Great CGI, But
...Do we really need another Super-hero/Action Movie? I'm probably the only person in America who was disappointed with this Filck. Other than the first scenes with Smaug, the movie is a total departure from both the content and the spirit of J.R.R. Tolkien's work; which was about cleverness, intelligence, and performing above one's abilities; not a thinly disguised martial arts fest. Yes there is a lot of action in the book; but there is much, much, more Cleverness/Intelligence. The screenwriters also screwed up the timelines of the happenings that are in the back-story of the Hobbit (i.e. outside of the specific book). And, yes, I know we need to add female characters to the all-male fest that is The Hobbit (novel); but the Elf/Dwarf 'romance' that was concocted for this movie was sappy and even stupid.
To those who haven't read the book(s) (including the appendices in 'The Return of the King'); enjoy yet another Martial Arts/Superhero movie...And, everybody, Smaug was awesome
