    To Kill A mockingbird

    by

Saw this last night. This is a favorite, both as a book and movie. Absolutely loved it on the big screen, the way movies were meant to be seen. The back stories were interesting too. What a daring movie for the 60s but still powerful today.

    SO happy

I was thrilled to see that i would have the opportunity to watch what i feel is one of the best movies ever made on the big screen. This was a wonderful event and the opening bio-pic was great at giving some unknown insight into the movie. Keep up the good work TCM.

    To Kill A Mockingbird

This drama is AWESOME ! I have always seen this movie on television however seeing this movie on the silver screen was truly a treat. Gregory Peck in the title role of Atticus Finch could not get any better. I understand why he received an Oscar for this role. This drama takes us to a time where people were just plain prejusticed and bigoted, but not Atticus Finch. He was a single father of two children and trying to carve out a living as a southern lawyer. The story really gets started when Atticus Finch is asked to defend a negro man accused of raping a white woman in Alabama. The lies continued to the very end. This was pretty groovey to see. Loved it ! Lovedit ! Loved it !

    Gets better every time

It sounds so cliche to say they don't make movies like this anymore but when was the last time you saw a move that didn't have special effects and computer generated stuff. This is a movie about people and the emotions that we all share, The close ups of the actors faces which you don't see on a tv screen are central to the appreciation of the story. The music tells a story itself and is perfect as Elmer Bernstein always is,( Magnificent Seven.. The Great Escape among many others) The chemistry among the actors is perfection and what more can be said about Gregory Peck. He is Atticus Finch. Go see this on the big screen if you can. It is a totally new experience . It will stay with you forever. Thanks to TCM and please do more on the big screen.

To Kill a Mockingbird at Plaza Bonita, CA

To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite films, and I was eager to see it on the big screen.

I enjoyed the event tremendously, although the restoration on portions of the film gave it the fuzzy look of a 60's television show shot on video. I am not sure if this was due to its being transmitted via satellite, but it left me feeling as if the theater were a big television screen.

I saw the film with a friend, and we both noticed that Mayella (the supposed rape victim) did not touch the Bible when she was sworn in to the witness chair. This was something we probably never would have seen on a smaller screen. It is a detail that seemed to explain the character's willingness to lie on the stand.

    To Kill A Mockingbird

This was a great experience. Totally enthralling. You become totally involved in the plot and live the experiences with the characters. The acting is impecable. The filming techniques are so much better than computer animation, there is no comparison. A movie of this calibur is a rarity and belongs on the big screen.

MOCKINGBIRD Still Sings After All These Years

    by Deanie9

It was great seeing TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD in pristine black-and-white again, as I had not seen it on the big screen since it opened in 1962. As it tackles racial issues that still resonate today, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD remains a lyrical evocation of childhoods shaped by both the joys and the harsh realities of life.

    All time favorite movie

To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite movie. I've seen it many, many times on TV, but seeing it on the big screen made me appreciate it even more. And the behind the scenes info shared before the movie began was great. So much I didn't know! What a great idea to bring this classic film to theaters to be appreciated by so many of all ages!

The acting is superb. Everyone is perfect in their role. Being a native Atlantan, I have always appreciated the authentic southern accents. Especially Scout, Jem and Dill's. Great story and character development. To Kill a Mockingbird has it all, humor, sadness, an understanding of the human spirit and the power of a child's words. All in all, a great way to spend an evening.

    Powerful

I have seen To Kill A Mockingbird on TV before, and it is a wonderful movie. However, you do not get the full impact of the movie until you see it on the big screen. At the theatre, you see so many details otherwise missed, and you feel the characters so much deeper. You experience the total silence of the audience as Atticus gives his closing argument. His words are a powerful message about humanity that captivates the room. As he walks out of the courtroom, you admire his dignity and it feels like you are in that courtroom with him. It was an unforgettable experience that I recommend to everyone.

Awesome Movie - Better on the Big Screen!

To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite books of all time. While I've seen the movie several times, and even own it, it was so much more compelling on the big screen - particularly the trial and Gregory Peck's closing argument. I'm glad for the opportunity to have seen it the way folks originally saw it (actually, probably better since it had been digitally remastered).

Great story and film. Great restoration. Bad presentation.

To Kill A Mockingbird is both one of the greatest books and movies this country has produced. I had never seen it on the big screen.
But last night's screening had some unfortunate shortfalls. The left/right edges of the film were off-screen thus losing some of the title words and some scene's composition and, in one case, a character (the judge in the verdict scene). Worse, in three places more than half-way through the screen went blank and silent.
Sorry Fathom and Universal, these gaffs greatly reduced the enjoyment of this special viewing.

Does it really need to be said?

This story is a classic; always has been, always will be. IMO, anyhow. I have loved the novel since I can remember, and the film leaves nothing to be desired. It is one of my favourites, so of course I took the opportunity to see it on the big screen--something I have never had the chance to do.

This ensemble of actors is simply outstanding. The direction, the cinematography, the acting--brilliant. Almost throughout the whole film, I actually felt like I was there with the Finch family, and that I was witnessing everything as if it were happening right in front of me.

Atticus Finch is probably the closest thing to a perfect role model, which to me almost emanates from Peck himself. With so many touching and emotional scenes in this film, I often found myself tearing up. This is a story everyone should take the time to experience.
