    Yeah.

Just a solid all around good movie. Nothing incredible but everything it does, it does well without getting cheesy or over the top. Dredd is the bad*** he is supposed to be, and its brutal!

    Lots of Action but...

I was unprepared for how gory it was. Violence is once thing, but tons of blood splatter and guts, gets a little old (especially in 3D). Otherwise the movie was good and I enjoyed it. Definitely earned its R rating (please don't bring your kids to this one until you've seen it first).

    Awesome movie!!

OMG! This movie was totally AWESOME!; and I am a very HARD person to please when it comes to movies; not one dull or boring moment. I just want to thank who ever was responsible for directing , producing, editing etc; this movie and for finally giving me a real non perdictable action movie to watch and enjoy. I can't wait for Dredd 2 to come out. Good job guys and keep it coming.

    Just ok

The action sequences were just pure gratuitous violence almost to the point of unnecessary. There was hardly any story line at all. No back story. You don't understand why Dredd is legendary or why he's so dedicated. The rookie's story was at least a little better. I love action flicks but this one was just ok. Frankly, the original was way better. Just like Total Recall. The original was much better. If it weren't for the 3D, it wouldn't have been worth seeing at all,

    Strong action, weak storyline

    by SeVeN36

No question that the action was entertaining, even if the slow motion effects became tired and repetitive. Major complaint is the storyline, or lack thereof, that wasted a good cast and an opportunity to reintroduce Dredd and the surrounding characters. The plot seemed like it was written for a first person shooter video game, and played out accordingly. Overall, save the money on a theater viewing and wait for home release or inclusion in your cable package.

    dredds assessment

wig splittin dome crackin body manglin top notch 3D entertainment...i dont even know who played dredd...which is perfect cuz it dont matter...only judgement matters in Mega-City One...

do not sleep on this movie cuz the 95 one was booty...dredd was as he shouldve been...R rated...no obnoxious comic relief or overblown villiian...

2 judges vs. 80 stories of crime and villains...dopeness!!!

minus one star for lack of a cameos

This erases the bad memory of Stallone completely - true to source, great if you aren't familiar with the source

Great movie, its a shame it had to go up against end of watch. I'm sure that as with myself, it was a coin toss between the two. Luckily Dredd won last week's coin flip. Now its EOW vs. Looper. My only disappointment with the film is that I did not see it in 3D and this looks as though it wasn't supposed to be viewed any other way. Do yourself a favor, skip the MB like stuff and see this film.

    Bloody good

Unlike the original attempt at bringing Judge Dredd to the screen this film stays closer to the source material. Great action scenes with just enough character development to bring it above other ultraviolent fare. The violence is very abundant and bloody but it serves the story being told and the background of the character. The story itself doesn't try to be much more than what it is: a day in the life of Judge Dredd. It stays simple but that's not to say it is stupid or dumbed down. Overall I really enjoyed this movie. The 3D was great as well. I thought it might end up being gimmicky being an action movie or just bad considering the dark scenes but it really did add to the movie. If you like action movies and aren't skiddish at blood then you should like this.

You don't have to know the comic, & the Judgement is..., AWESOME!

Being a fan of the 2000AD series, DREDD made me happy, & I want to see this movie again, really soon! Karl Urban & Olivia Thirlby did awesome jobs as Dredd, & Rookie Judge Anderson. I don't want to describe too much here because you really need to "see" their performances. Their adversary is the drug kingpin, MA-MA, ptayed by Lena Headey.I would've liked to see a bit more of her backstory, but there was enough to give her the reason for being the film's main Bad Guy".The Special FX were top notch, with nothing ridiculous. The 3D aspect was used mostly to give a sense of "expansive depth" while still showing the cramped living areas of a "Block". Sure, there were some slow motion scenes/fights, mostly to show the effects of the Slo-Mo drug, but they were well done. DREDD will be the "District 9" of 2012. Another awesome movie with lots of word of mouth, but not enough viewers. I hope that I'm wrong with this prediction, & that it gets the viewership it so deserves!

    Blood, Guts and Gore Galore

"America is in a radiated wasteland. Outside the walls a barren desert, a cursed earth. Inside the walls a cursed city stretching from Chicago to Washington DC. The only thing standing for law and order amid the chaos are the men and women of the hall of justice." The opening sequence tells much about the intriguing nature of the film known only as dredd. It's a film ram packed with explosive shot sequences amid a future laden with chaos and corruption. A rookie cop possessing psychic abilities and a seasoned veteren are forced in a duel to the death with the ultimate evil MAMA, a criminal mastermind in possession of an illegal narcotic slo mo. The two find themselves in a playhouse of horror when a megastructure is seized by the MAMA clan unleashing a wave of destruction and death. This is a must see film for die hard fans of the classic genre.

I have not seen a 3D movie sense i worked at a theater in the late 80's. I can say there has been no improvements sense then. I can live with out 3D movies. Oh by the way Dredd was a great movie.

    Unapologetic Genre Movie

This is 100% awesome. You're not going to be blown away by lifetime achievement award winning acting, but really, that's not why you're considering seeing this movie anyway. You're coming to see a nigh-unstoppable, morally ambiguous murder machine tear through the drug-addled gang members in a 200 story slummy apartment mega structure. And that is what you will get. In SPADES. How it manages to do this without being cheesy you ask? I'm glad you asked. No irony. No poking fun at how violent it is. No breaking the fourth wall. This movie is smart enough to assume that you're smart enough to know why you came to see it. Also of note: Gravity has the fourth biggest kill count in this movie, and that IS AWESOME. If you even have an inkling that you want to see Dredd, DO IT. Impossible to be disappointed.

    Amazingly Spectacular!

    by

Not like the campy film with Sylvester Stalone. Karl Urban really delivers an amazing performance as Dredd! This movie is so dark and stays oh so true to the comics.I would pay to watch this in 3D ten times over. The special effects were phenomenal ,the acting was superb and the over all essence of this movie leaves you wanting a sequel. You can appreciate this movie even if you haven't read the comics.

I like this film alot. Much better than the Sylvestor Stallone version.

To me this film was more to the comic book. It was dark and violent and more serious. Urban is a better Dredd. Kind of Eastwood like in his acting. He also showed no remorse when he killed people either. A must go.

aard7ark Watched #Dredd tonight and found it to be a damn fine action film. Too bad it tanked at the B.O.; Popcorn films need to be more like #Dredd.

charlieloft77 Watched #Dredd thought it was brilliant! #theraid is faster paced but if Dredd is given the chance of a sequel it could kick ass #iamthelaw

jasonramasami rfto3: although I ‘liked’ Dredd (well - thought it captured MegaCity perfectly) I felt that Avon Barksdale was out of place somehow.

Hello_Tailor Appropriately enough, the court where I'm doing jury duty looks like a building from Judge Dredd.
