    Good Movie

    by

I missed Part 1; but for sure I'll see Part III when it comes out. This movie was well done. Now I'm interested in reading the book.

    Atlas Shrugged 11

What an appropriate movie for today's real life problems........an administration that is intent on convincing the average american that rich people are eviil and must be taxed out of business!! Ann Ryand couldn't have known she would be writing a classic that would span so many years yet be so up to date. Dagney Taggart and Hank Riordan are the last of the true entranapeurs who are bent on saving capitalism while everyone else is succeeding in taking huge bites out of americas free enterprise system. More and more successful people are disappeariing, the country is on its way to distruction under the (non) leadership of those who want to take from the industrious.
Contrary to most books made into movies, this movie is following the masterfully written prose of the author almost verbatum.

    Part 2 is right on

    by twojo6

I only cringed when she said "do not use that phrase", besides that I loved this film.
But then I loved Part 1 also. Perhaps I am biased having actually read and reread the book.
The actors fit the parts. Maybe Dagny's brother was a bit bozo'd too much. But I guess it's hard to squeeze 333 book pages into a 1:52 film.
My concern for non readers is they may not be as forgiving as me and will pass on the film as weakly done.
Whatever. I want to see it again, and recommend it wholeheartedly.

    It just keeps getting better!

This compelling story illuminated the true source of many of our modern woes: cronyism, backdoor politics, and the desire to bleed productive members of society to death. The new actors brought more grit and reality to the story and the film itself was highly entertaining.

    Atlas Shrugged

Wonderful re-creation of the book. And the message is so timely for the up-coming election. Given that the book is one of the most widely read, I don't understand why this movie is not at the top of the charts. In some scenes it is obvious that the small budget could not provide the best that Hollywood can offer, but the message is still as powerful as the book.

    Waking up the Nation

    by

Warning: This movie is not a must-see because of its whistles and bells. Special effects and Oscar award-winning performances cannot be found here. What is here is Part II of one of the most compelling "What if...?" scenarios were to ever unfold. It's the story, the mind-blowing philosophy revealed through the plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Yes the message is not very subtle, but it's complete. If you are into sci-fi sans aliens and green slime; if you are even remotely politically aware, it's a must see.
If you're not engaged in current affairs or politics but love the life you lead and the freedom you have, it's a must see...
In a era often devoid of messaging this movie is bound to do what too many of us avoid, think! ; )
Please see Part I first, available through Amazon and Netflix

Good movie, no match to the book

    by CCPLADY

The movie was enjoyable, however as I have just finished reading the book for the second time, the full details are too fresh in my mind. It's not possible to make this book into a great movie series, but they're doing a pretty good job at it.

Please don't "just" see the movies; read the book. Yes, it's long, but it is amazing, the characters, details, and nuances that just can't make it onto film.

FRUSTRATING....PART II IS NOT THE ENTIRE STORY.....THERE WIILL BE YET ANOTHER PART

    by DAGTAG

I'd have preferred the second installment be 3-4 hours long...to FINISH the book, I was disappointed where they chose to stop..... More confusion for the 'Atlas' novices.,
I felt cheated that I must go back again, (without warning), making it a total of $60 for 2 people. I've read Atlas Shrugged 5 times. It's my favorite book, but not everyone has the luxury of spending so much to see ONE story during these economic times.

Part one needed some work, part two was better, but for someone who didn't read the book (like my husband)....my giving him the backgroundl, as the movie progressed, STILL made it very complicated for him to understand.
There were only 6 people in the entire theater on the second night after opening. The continued confusion for"'Atlas" novices, does not bode well for the reception of the final chapter.
It should have been made for HBO....,with several re-runs., giving ALL a chance to see and understand this complicated story.( Acting, Directing etc. good)

    Atlas Shrugged Part 2

Thought it was great and looks like must be going on today in businesses and depending how the election turns out, it could be an indicator of what's in store the next 4 years.

Excellent even with new cast of Actors

My husband I thought the movie was excellent. We were a bit concerned when we learned the roles had been recast but the new actors were terrific. And the movie so good. Now we are anxious for the Atlas Shrugged Part III

    Atlas Shrugged Part 2

Fast paced. Great flying scenes. Covered the bases in part 2 of the book; however, it did seem to run from one action point to another. Not enough character building for my taste. Not enough of history with Fransico and no sight of Ragnar, the pirate. I preferred the first Dagny but until they merge all three together for a big DVD it does not really matter. While it is not perfect, I still say go see it.

Great sequel, can't wait for the final part

    by

This was a great sequel to Part I, and it's definitely worth seeing for its message and if you're an Ayn Rand fan. It stays true to the book, and conveys Rand's message beautifully to a new (and existing) audience. The release is very timely and appropriate given our current economic and political environment, so I recommend seeing it before the election. Be sure to watch Part I first for the back story, even though all the main actors have changed (bigger names, better budget).

    Better represents Ayn Rand's points

    by Law2001

What can I say but this movie is an improvement to part 1. It has better acting, better special effects, is longer, and better represents Ayn Rand's points. Stay to the very end past the credits, there is a little bonus.

The Intrigue Builds...And The Story Continues.

This film series is not for the "Scott Pilgrim" crowd. Neither is it for anyone who cannot connect cause and effect relationships, which when coupled with political and economic nuances, redefine the boundaries of societal normalcy. If you saw the first film, this one won't disappoint you, as this chapter segues nicely into the next installment. Since today's audiences are "we need conflict resolution in the moment" types, they're not all that "buzzed" about cliff-hangers, which is basically what you get here but again, if you saw the first one that should be expected. This installment is as worthy of a ticket's price as the last. See it. You won't be disappointed.

Love the story, better production values than Part 1, cant wait for Part 3...

I love the book, so I pretty much knew going in that I would love the story line. I was concerned about the fact that the actors/actresses playing the characters were changing from Part1, but you are over that very quickly as you fall right back in with the new characters. I really cant remember who played them in the first movie now.

You can tell the overall level of the acting, as well as the production values, camera work, etc have all improved from Part 1 as the budget increased as well.

If you are a "producer" or a "looter" who would like to become a "producer" go see it and get the flame burning...
