Part 2 not as good as part 1

    by

The most disappointing aspect of this movie was the replacement of key actors. The part 1 cast was MUCH better than this cast. But I would recommend seeing this movie as it furthers the plot of the three parts and the whole is worth it. Now I can't wait for part 3.

    Atlas Shrugged 2

Another fantastic movie from the Atlas Shrugged group! different actors in key roles, but as compelling as before! Can hardly wait for the next installment! America is in crisis and this movie shows where it is headed if we don't stop this runaway train of our government!

    Unexpectantly Surprised

After the disappointing Part 1 of Atlas Shrugged, I wasn't expecting Part 2 to be much different. However, I was excited, amazed, and totally engrossed during the entire time. What a difference! We all know that Ayn Rand's book is a classic, and that bringing it to the screen would be a giant undertaking. But it was accomplished in part 2. My advice ... do not miss it!

You do not go here for special effects

    by Zoransa

Part 2 is somewhat better then part 1. Most of us who read the book will say 'book is better' but at least big idea was transferred to movie format.

    The train collision was intense!

Atlas Shrugged Part 2 was great, much better than the first! Jason Beghe is awesome as Hank Readen. His courtroom scene and "rigid principles" speech are highlights of the film. Esai Morales is fantastic as Francisco. His delivery of the "Money Speech" does justice to the drama, emotion, and ideas presented in the novel in a way I never thought any film adaptation could ever accomplish.
    _________________________________________

The crowning achievement of the film is the train collision scene, which was more intense than any Hollywood firefight or explosion scene I've seen in years! The philosophical message of the scene being clear: the consequence of mass unconsciousness - which is the result of corrupt government and corporate structures - is the destruction of innocent lives. The movie as a whole will probably be ignored by the masses, but the impact this scene will have on filmmakers - particularly those attempting to convey a humanitarian message - is inevitable.

Wonderful - if you know the book

As a fan of the book, I loved this movie. The acting was great, the characters had great depth, and the dialog confronted powerful human issues. It hit the high points of Part II of the novel well. I have some great images to go with the story, which is a joy and a treat for me.

And, If you don't know the story, it would be tough to connect to everything that is happening. It reminded me of Dune in this way - Great if you know the story - and only OK if you don't.

The scene with Sean Hannity, Juan Williams, and Bob Beckel was great. If you are into politics, you will find it provocative and unapologetic. As a cultural critique and conversation piece, it is a must.

    See it.

I liked the movie and it moved too quickly for me (over in no time!). I wanted a resolution, but not so with the center of a trilogy.

I wish they had used the cast from the 1st movie - they were more like the characters in the book. The costuming for Dagny was awful and my goodness but the actresses seemed a bit…overweight for their parts.

Please, please make the 3rd and final installment!

Ayn Rand Could See the Future

It's scary - she started writing this story in the late '40's and yet, she saw our future. Anyone can see how close we are to the dystopic society she portrays in this book and is expertly updated for the movie. Even if you missed part 1, you can still "get" part 2, though you should go back and see part 1.

The actors chosen work very well, even for long-time book fans. The director took a very large book and made skillful cuts to focus on the message. By tying in things like Occupy, it makes it feel more like a view into a future newscast - a future that is perhaps only a few years off.

If you care about America and where we are headed, you need to see this movie. This is our future, unless we act.

2nd installment a much stronger film, message as strong as ever.

I had hoped Atlas Shrugged 2 would be a more polished product than the first film and I wasn't disappointed. The acting and production are much improved. Personally, I found Dagny's character much more in line with the book in the second installment. Reardon was strong also. The theater was 80% filled for an afternoon matinee, a great sign. The people in the theater were energized at it's conclusion, many chatting with others afterward.

    More Powerful that Part 1

Atlas Shrugged Part 1 was a must-see movie. This one takes place several years later. The characters are the same, but different actors were used to make the characters appear older.

The message behind this film, as it was in Ayn Rand's classic novel, is one that every American should listen to. This film shows how socialistic policies as well as out of control government spending can and will bring the economy to its knees.

In this second part, the government is on a power grab and using the economic troubles as an excuse to seize private property.

This movie leaves you waiting for Part 3.

    Not For Entertainment

    by USA1752

The United States Constitution is specifically designed to protect against tyranny. It is the one and only document in the entire history of all mankind that prevents us from falling back into the dark ages. Without it we can look forward to scenarios such as this movie. Get a copy of the U.S. Constitution and display it proudly in your home. You'll be glad you did.

    Atlas Shrugged

    by

I think it is a good interpretation of the book. I enjoyed Part I and Part II although there has been no advertising of this movies existence I just happened to come upon it.

I don't think it will be appreciated unless you've read the book as it seems a bit campy and over the top. In context it all makes sense.

Didn't think I'd like it but It did--one scary movie

    by ptaz

My husband and I went to see this yesterday. I didn't think I'd like it and went along to placate him. I found it to be a good story and kind of scary because so much of what they talked about is already happening in our country today. Rising gas prices, taking for the people who produce to give to the people who don't produce is a scary thought. We've all been brainwashed to think that is the way to go, but it has to come to an end because the money will run out one day and our country will be destroyed. Go see it for yourself and compare it to what is happening today.

    Liked it very much

    by jude536

I like it even better than the first one. They were able to present Rand's long speeches with a few important lines. There were some exciting special effects. Esai Morales makes a good Francisco D'Anconia. It seemed very relevant to today.

So Much Better Than Part 1!!!

    by

I went into this movie with low expectations, but was so pleasantly surprised. Great cast! I was originally worried about Samantha Mathis as Dagny after seeing the trailer, but that was completely unfounded. She was perfect!

Even if you don't like the book, or haven't read the book, you'll enjoy this movie. It's fiction, but critically relevant to where we find ourselves and our country today.

Why do you suppose the journalists gave this movie a bad review? I'm sure you can answer that without me spelling it out, and I'm certain it has nothing to do with the quality of the movie.
