    Excellent

An outstanding movie. Stayed pretty true to the book. Preferred the Dagney in the first movie, but this one acquitted herself well. Interesting to know how many of the actors/actresss understand and believe what their characters are espousing. Acting was good; cinematography was very good. I'm still amazed at how prescient Ayn Rand was, writing this story in 1957 that's completely applicable to today. I strongly recommend everyone see this movie - especially so prior to November 6!

The movie is well worth it. The showing I attended only have 4 people (Wednesday afternoon at 4 PM. I suggested you watch the first part that is available on video before going. If you have not read the book do so.

    Great Movie

Excellent effort to translate a complex book into a movie. Acting was superb, a bit better than the first movie, part one. Did a great job of modernizing it as well.

Should have seen the first one.

It was ok. I should have watched the first one. I was completely lost on what was going on. And at the end I was like...What just happened? It's over? But it had a lot of action and the actual film was done well.

    Relevant Right Now!

Read the Ayn Rand novel back in the '60s, read it again when I heard the movie was being produced. Part I opened in limited venues, and I had to wait for the DVD to see it. Part II came to a theatre in my city and I couldn't wait to buy tickets ASAP! This was relevant when it was written, but amazingly applicable to the current situation when updated for the movie! AS Part II was better than Part I--buy or rent the DVD for background, if you can. The cast was changed for the 2nd movie, but I think these actors generally fit their roles better. A blockbuster of a novel over time, still in print and selling, and studied in university philosophy classes, Atlas Shrugged needed to be filmed in 3 parts to be as true to the novel as possible and get the entire message across. The subject is deadly serious, but there is love, adventure, fun, and at times a sense of the ridiculous that made me and the people around me laugh. This is for adults, no CGI or comic book characters. Go! Worth it!

    ATLAS SHRUGGED

    by wjs1418

I read the book more than 30 years ago and couldn't wait for a producer and or studio with enough courage to make it into a movie. Well I'm glad that the group did finally raised the money to make part 1, I went to see part 1 and then I purchased the DVD. I then had to wait for part 2. I just went to see part 2 and now I wait for the DVD. I wouldlike to be notified when the part 2 DVD is released. I'm very hopeful that part three will be filmed in the very near future so that I can complete the trilogy set.

    Atlas Shrugged: Part 2

In comparison to the first movie, this one followed the book closer. It was much better organized and easier to understand the plot. Very good. Suggest every one see it. Excellent!!!

Atlas Shrugged is so relevant to our current state of government

Loved seeing Part II and can't wait for Part III. I'm not sure why it was necessary to change all of the actors from Part I, but will definitely see Part III when available. We are not a bottomless moneypit for our dear leaders. If you didn't see Part I it will still bring you up to speed.

    Breaking points

    by

We all have our breaking points. So does a society. Atlas Shrugged, Part 2 brilliantly shows you a society breaking apart, because that society breaks men.

One woman doesn't want to break. She thinks she can fight back. But someone else has decided to hasten the breakdown: when other people break, he's there. And, poof! A pianist walks off the stage and misses his curtain call. An inventor walks away from his achievement just as he got it working. And you go on a wild ride that ends in a plane flying a slalom chase through a rocky valley, after another plane that...well, that would be telling.

The writers cut to the chase and knew just how much to leave in. So it's never boring.

Adults will understand this best of all, but it has a train wreck and that plane chase that make for cool action. (Some of the subjects might be a little sensitive, though.)

    Atlas Shrugged 2

Excellent movie, I am now waiting for the DVD to become available. A pity the movie is not being shown at more local theaters. It needs to reach a wider audience.

Love the story, better production values than Part 1, cant wait for Part 3...

I love the book, so I pretty much knew going in that I would love the story line. I was concerned about the fact that the actors/actresses playing the characters were changing from Part1, but you are over that very quickly as you fall right back in with the new characters. I really cant remember who played them in the first movie now.

You can tell the overall level of the acting, as well as the production values, camera work, etc have all improved from Part 1 as the budget increased as well.

If you are a "producer" or a "looter" who would like to become a "producer" go see it and get the flame burning...

    Waiting for Part III

Atlas Shrugged, Part II was a fantastic movie, and generally true to the novel. I was very impressed with it, great action scenes, major characters had some depth to them, the story was fairly understandable, even if you hadn't read the novel. I would definitely see it again, and I can't wait until Part III comes out to see how they conclude it.

So much of what Ayn Rand spoke of in this novel is, unfortunately, very true today in this country. It's almost a cautionary tale for our time. However, Ayn Rand isn't for everyone. Many find they don't "get" it, others disagree on either the basic premise or on various points with her philosophy. It doesn't change the fact that there is still an "aristocracy of pull" which is prevalent, even in the past two presidential administrations, and many before. It goes to show what unintended consequences can arise from such activities.

I want DVD copies of Parts I and II, and eagerly await to see how they conclude the series. BRAVO!

Great sequel, can't wait for the final part

    by

This was a great sequel to Part I, and it's definitely worth seeing for its message and if you're an Ayn Rand fan. It stays true to the book, and conveys Rand's message beautifully to a new (and existing) audience. The release is very timely and appropriate given our current economic and political environment, so I recommend seeing it before the election. Be sure to watch Part I first for the back story, even though all the main actors have changed (bigger names, better budget).

    Atlas Shrugged P2

If this movie were of the quality of "Ciizen Kane" or "Schindler's List" which it certainly is not, the mostly liberal crictics and their Hollywood chums would find it unacceptable by the nature of it's message. It's message being that no man was put on earth to be the sacrificial lamb of the mob and the individual, providing he is honest and moral in his business dealings, should be permitted to live life for his own pleasure not others. I think that is what rubs the crictics the wrong way either consciously or subconsciously.

That said there are plent of flaws in the movie mostly due to it's obviously low budget. The producers were not able to get traditional financing because the message is not what Hollywood wants to sell. Had any well known actor or actress appeared in the movie, they would most probably find it hard to find new work.

As the heroes in the movie did, the producers made the movie FOR THEIR OWN PLEASURE.

    Atlas Shrugged 2

Another fantastic movie from the Atlas Shrugged group! different actors in key roles, but as compelling as before! Can hardly wait for the next installment! America is in crisis and this movie shows where it is headed if we don't stop this runaway train of our government!
