The Intrigue Builds...And The Story Continues.

This film series is not for the "Scott Pilgrim" crowd. Neither is it for anyone who cannot connect cause and effect relationships, which when coupled with political and economic nuances, redefine the boundaries of societal normalcy. If you saw the first film, this one won't disappoint you, as this chapter segues nicely into the next installment. Since today's audiences are "we need conflict resolution in the moment" types, they're not all that "buzzed" about cliff-hangers, which is basically what you get here but again, if you saw the first one that should be expected. This installment is as worthy of a ticket's price as the last. See it. You won't be disappointed.

    It just keeps getting better!

This compelling story illuminated the true source of many of our modern woes: cronyism, backdoor politics, and the desire to bleed productive members of society to death. The new actors brought more grit and reality to the story and the film itself was highly entertaining.

    Great Movie!!

I loved this movie! Of course I've read Atlas Shrugged at least 3 times and every time I re-read the book I get something new from it. This movie shows what would happen if the producers of the world (scientists, engineers, artists, judges etc - anyone producing a service for others in return for value) go on strike. The term Atlas shrugged refers to those who hold the world up actually shrugging under the load - in fact they go permanently into strike into Galt's Gulch and the rest of the world starts to fall apart. A radical idea in its time and quite relevant to today. In fact, in the present time, Atlas has already shrugged - witness the thousands of jobs that have been outsourced away from America - instead of a single Galt's Gulch and a single John Galt there are already hundreds of Galt's and hundreds of Gulches overseas!! Google "Startup Chile" for example and you will see what I am talking about!!

    Atlas Shrugged: Part 2

In comparison to the first movie, this one followed the book closer. It was much better organized and easier to understand the plot. Very good. Suggest every one see it. Excellent!!!

    Screen Play Shrugged?

    by Ronbo12

We understand the idea and have read the book, however the screen play is awful and a couple of the main "actors" were just bad actors.

the script is just gawwwd awwwwful.

    Better than the first.

You can tell part 1 was a financial success because the production value, acting and scripting was much better in part II. Can't wait for part III. I'm sure Ayn Rand would approve if she was still here.

    Everybody should see this movie

    by cris662

It's unusual these days to see a movie and spend hours afterwards talking about something besides which characters you liked best (though there are some good ones). Not for those seeking a pure and simple adrenaline rush (though there are some hair-raising scenes), but rather a fresh look at the world around us. The ideas presented in this movie should not be ignored. Love it or hate it, the idea that the people in power will use their position to loot the productive base of civilization cannot be ignored. If you agree, this movie will strengthen your spirits. If you disagree, you will appreciate an opposing viewpoint that is stated with the utmost clarity in the screen version of a book that has captured the hearts of millions.

ATlas Shrugged - Almost as good as the book

    by rogers1

The book changed my life 50 years ago...made me realize that we deserve to keep what we earn and should never steal from others; ideas, talents, etc.....and the movie is upholding all of Ayn Rand's ideals. The actors are superb and so believable. Wish everyone would see it. Maybe it would help change a few minds and help our entire country.

    Atlas Shrugged 2

Another fantastic movie from the Atlas Shrugged group! different actors in key roles, but as compelling as before! Can hardly wait for the next installment! America is in crisis and this movie shows where it is headed if we don't stop this runaway train of our government!

So Much Better Than Part 1!!!

    by

I went into this movie with low expectations, but was so pleasantly surprised. Great cast! I was originally worried about Samantha Mathis as Dagny after seeing the trailer, but that was completely unfounded. She was perfect!

Even if you don't like the book, or haven't read the book, you'll enjoy this movie. It's fiction, but critically relevant to where we find ourselves and our country today.

Why do you suppose the journalists gave this movie a bad review? I'm sure you can answer that without me spelling it out, and I'm certain it has nothing to do with the quality of the movie.

My first thumbnail review of Atlas Shrugged Pt 2

It wasn?t as pure as Pt 1 ? the desperate circumstances of 1's production gave a clearer flow. This is more hectic and colored. The thriller aspect and econ-political passion of the book still shines through. A number of unfortunate continuity errors ? some quite severe. The Richard Halley sequence was bad. Dagny seems overly tired even with a world collapsing, but Rearden?s character was more or less successfully updated for 2012. His clotted marriage makes more sense given our times. Some very interesting adaptative decisions (e.g., giving TT a central nerve center and Dave Mitchum working there). Eddie Willers is stronger, seems a better match for Dagny. Francisco stands out ? he has the burning passion (almost mystical) of someone who's seen another world. Not much like the Francisco of the book ? the Zorro-inspired D?Anconia has become more an avenging/liberating angel, but through him we hear some of the purer moments of Rand?s voice come through.

Great Story. Good movie. I hear the book is Great... but long

    by GrizzTx

Apparently, the book is one of those MUST READ books that I have not read.... yet. But the movie I did see. In fact, I saw both 1 and 2. I think I liked 1 a bit more because I got attached to the actors being so good at their role. It took a while to get used to the new cast. But once I did, I got back into it. It is such a relevant story for our time... as it has been all through history. It just brings back that old truth: Those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it... The movie is well done, even though it is a bit slow a times. The story is great and interesting depth in all the characters, dialogue and plot. I look forward to 3... I assume there will be one.

    A big step forward

Atlas Shrugged Part II removed a lot of the problems of Part I. They've smoothed out the somewhat choppy editing of Part I. The story comes through sharp and clear, now. Critics claimed in Part I that everything happened at one cocktail part after another. That was never true, but there's almost none of that now. What appears in Part II is a strong story that supports the producers and not the consumers, the innovators not the parasites. The essence of the novel shines through.

I think they got it right this time, and Part III should be very strong as long as they don't try to show Galt's 100-page speech.

I didn't have any problem with a different actress playing Dagny. Samantha Mathis does very well, and Esai Morales is very compelling as Francisco D'Anconia.

    This is definitely worth seeing.

Part 2 not as good as Part 1

I think dividing Atlas Shrugged into 3 movies was a mistake. 2 long movies with the same cast would have been better. I liked Part 1 and was looking forward to the next installment. But the plot for Part 2 is just too thin. It just shows how the US is continuing to degenerate, but we already know that from Part 1. In Part 2 the protagonists mainly spend their time verbally abusing people they dislike but not doing much else. At least in Part 1 our 2 main protagonists where creating the John Galt Line and overcoming ninnies trying to stop them. Basically, we need to get to the climax of the story more quickly. In PArt 2 Dagny gets to John Galt's haven in the mountains, and the movie ends without telling us anything about Galt's alternative community. That's fine if I can see the next installment on TV in a week, but not if I need to wait a year or 2 for PArt 3.

I will see Part 3 if it is made. But Part 2 is so weak I fear that might not happen.

    Atlas Shrugged Part II

At first I was upset with all new actors. However, after getting to know the new actors, some of them did a better job playing their characters than the previous movie. I really miss Dagny though. I really enjoyed the story and can only say if you are a Ayn Rand fan, then you NEED to see this. I am going to see part 2 again this weekend and cannot wait for the third installment.
    WHO IS JOHN GALT?
