    Could've Been a Greater Flick

    by

I love interweaving stories and this takes it to another level entirely. The only thing that bugged me was the interpretation of the BIG message of the film being that " we are all connected somehow, somewhere." A more thoroughly thought out screenplay would've benefited the film itself. Instead, what's left is just a mock up of the same actors, playing different roles, attempting to relay that BIG message. And in short, it makes this film a bit flat.

    Loved it - time flew!

I wanted to be there ... and I felt like I was!

Didn't realize it was 3 hours long til I arrived to this website to add my positive rating

The book didn't get such good reviews, but this movie is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The casting, acting, cinematography, music, ... are superb!

If the idea of reincarnation finds you fearful, and believe me when I say I am 100% Christian, look beyond your fear and just understand how we are all connected. Think why we were put on this earth, why we were born into the families we were, how our spirit is different than our body/personality/values.

Also in this movie is a "Stick it to da' man!" which is always good fodder.

I say GO GO GO! Can't wait for the DVD!!!!

    Tom Hanks does it again...

...another must see film! Amazing. It may be close to 3 hours; however, it does NOT feel like it. It's a ride and an enjoyable one.

What you should know before seeing this film.

-There are 6 different story lines, follow them separately and the movie will be easier to watch

-These story lines connect in ways that are usually subtle but have a deeper meaning

-I believe this is a film that requires at least a second viewing, so don't try to catch everything all at once

-ENJOY the breathtaking visuals, relax and enjoy the show

    Nonsense

Made no sense whatsoever. Should go back to the editing room. Worst film of the year. The actors must've needed $$ and something to do in order to have agreed to work on this film.

    out there, loved it

Cloud Atlas took me way out beyond the box, the building and the world. It's a movie that you want to see again after a week or so of processing. It's not for those who need to be spoon fed ideas, as it challenges one to be open to possibilities to follow the quantum jumps. I hope this movie is the start of a trend, loved it.

    Cloud Atlas mesmerizes!

Hubby and I both LOVED this flick.

The acting, makeup and costumes of Cloud Atlas are outstanding. Fantastic script. I can't wait to go back to the theatre and see this movie again! And did I mention that the costume and makeup were fabulous?! Not for children.

This film does homage to lots of other sci-fi flicks.

    Very entertaining movie!

    well worth it

    by cwmayle

The move starts off fast, seems confusing but then there is a POW moment and everything falls into place and the movie is incredible. Makes you think, stimulates your imagination and leaves you sitting there thinking; wow.

    Must see Cloud ATlas

This movie begs you to focus on the characters as they move through time, changing their Karma. Evil begets evil and good begets blessings. There aren't any predictable plot twists and letting your senses flow with the story reveals and unwraps the treasure within. The beginning and end meet and all points in between show the continuity of existence. Above all, it is escapism at it's finest.

    Absolutely Amazing

    by

A creative and original piece of cinema that delves deep into the human condition and exposes us to the pain we can cause each other. A combination of romance, science fiction, thriller, mystery, comedy, and action this movie goes beyond the limitations of genre. Thought provoking and insightful it brings to life a story that transcends time; weaving a web of interconnected experiences that come together into a single, beautiful masterpiece. The scenery was beautifully done and the emotions so intense you could feel them in the very fabric of your being. At first, the viewer is immersed in scene after scene that leaves him or her confused but you quickly adapt to the presentation of the plot and understanding soon follows. Definitely not a movie for children as it depicts violence and disturbing imagery but those scenes are essential. If you're looking for a mindless film don't waste the seats on yourself; but if you enjoy substance and thought then this is the film for you.

    Cloud Atlas

    by

Be prepared to spend some time, but if you're like me, you won't mind at all. Stunning visuals, somewhat confusing stories, and accents that take some getting used to, but I plan to see it at least a couple more times, and I'm not usually one to watch a movie more than once or twice. Go, suspend your disbelief and just soak up the experience.

Maybe after seeing it again I will be able to follow it better.I got the idea but following it was a bit difficult.a great story but hard to put on film and they did a great job. One must pay 100% attention to stay with it.

    Breathtaking

    by

I hate to admit, but I had never heard of the book or this movie (I don't watch much TV), but saw a preview while seeing another movie and thought it looked intresting. The cast alone was enough to draw me in for a look!
Can I just say how much I LOVE this movie! Amazingly breathtaking! The story is just right in my opinion. It has a good mix of humor, romance, conflict, and action! The cinematics were beautiful and the story, while told interweavingly, are poignant and easy to follow if you have any measure of intelligence.
Yes this movie has lots of hidden detail, but for me, that is a sign of a good movie. One you actually want to see over and over to catch all those little hidden gems! I have seen it twice all ready and would readily go see it again!
This is a movie for people who think deep and search for equality in life. If you are a Scary Movie type this is NOT the movie for you! If you enjoyed movies like AI, The Matrix, and the like, you are sure to love this

    Must go, with proviso

If you've never given any thought to the possibility of having lived more than once, or the direct relationship between your actions and their effects, then this complex, compelling and well-delivered film of David Mitchell's novel won't make as much sense to you. Its complexity mirrors life itself, and its hovering perspective demands concentration. Thank goodness. Yes, we watch film for entertainment. It entertains. Yes, we watch to be kept on the edge of our seats. There are big enough question marks and action sequences to satisfy. Too many films only entertain, only titillate. The huge themes that are visited through a well-written screen adaptation, excellent cinematography, superb acting, and stunning FX, are meant to be thought-provoking, to rattle the cage. This is not pablum. It's hearty food for the inquiring mind. A more than worthy effort of the Wachowski siblings and Twyker to continue to address the larger picture of life in our amazing cosmos. I loved it.

    A great movie.

This one is not for everybody. Some people will think it's weird and out there. But it IS a great movie and I am so happy that Hollywood finally came out with something deep and meaningful.
