    Cloud Atlas-GO

I thought it was an interesting movie. I loved the move through time and it seemed almost a love story. The amazing look through time with the vast characters each actor /actress played was many stories within one main story. It was friendship and love courage and battles. It's definitely a "GO SEE" The almost three hours passed by without one look at the time.

    Great Movie

This is an epic film by the Wachowski Bros! It helps if you've read the book (which I have), but I feel this is one of the rare cases where the movie stands out in comparison to the book. Yes, it was better than the book, but it was also very different than the book. You can see where they would have to rearrange quite a few things to make the movie work, and they did that from the book, and I think it works well. It is worth going just to see Tom Hanks' performances; they are creative and memorable. My favorite thing about this movie is that story remains much more about the characters in the movie and their humanity, and not about the time period in which they are living. Don't be afraid of the length of the film; for me, the time flew by and I still wanted more! Also, some critics reviews said that the movie was hard to follow and disjointed. I feel that if you pay attention, and especially if you've read the book, you will have no problem following the film.

    A Beautiful Movie

I personally think this movie was very creative and beautifully written. The actors were wonderful and it kept my attention for 3 hours. I love the use of each actor in different roles. This thought provoking film makes you think about how our lives are possibly interwoven throughout the different ages before meeting our maker.

    Cloud Atlas

So other than having actors play different parts, which didn't advance the story or concept, this was not a movie about cosmic connections. Just six stories and not necessarily that interesting.

    Cloud Atlas

Absolutely fabulous! I want to go back over and over and I never feel that way about a movie. Once is almost always enough for me. I also plan to get the book, I was so intrigued with the story.

    what a fantastic film!

    by alixer

What a shame Cloud Atlas didn't do well in North America. What a fantastic film! Go out and watch it while you still can. Given its scale, budget ... flop, there may not be another like it for a long time - at least not from a US studio, and let's face it, only US studios spend $100 million on movies.

There is never a point when you are scratching your head. It has great pace and you're constantly glued to the plot. Definitely one of the best films of the year!!

    Cloud Atlas

Very well made movie. Interesting use of characters and stars. A little long, could possibly be about 20 minutes shorter. Took a couple of scenes to make the initial connections. Not the type of movie you want to walk away from or you will lose continuity. Great effects and make up.

    Thought-provoking!

Visually stunning movie with some really big names. Unfortunately my friends and I stopped trying to follow the plot lines after the first hour and just sat back and enjoyed the action for the next 2 hours. We were talking about the movie afterwards for a good hour trying to figure out how the stories were connected, the characters each actor played, which soul was which, etc (with a little help from the wiki summary of the book). Even though the movie had to leave certain parts out, I think the final piece was well worth seeing in theaters. This movie really is one of those that you have to see a number of times to fully "get" so if that's not your cup of tea, then I guess this movie will leave you scratching your head. Go see this with friends so you can enjoy discussing it afterwards!

    Tiring but beautiful

    by tomhat

Having to go through 3 hours of switching between 6 stories is kind of tiring. The directors did a great job in keeping those transitions smooth. However, you won't be pushed to the edge of your seat in this movie, but you'll enjoy it.

    Worst Movie - True True!

    by

Disjointed nonsense. Didn't do a good job of tying the characters together. I was able to follow most of it and at other times it left me wondering what the heck? I'm sure the stars had a great time with each of their parts but I didn't buy their characters. Will probably be nominated for makeup and costumes but definitely not worth the price of the ticket. The dog scene was totally unnecessary and only made me hate the movie more. Wish I would have left after the first hour. Worst movie of the year! True-True

    I just don't get it

Some great acting, scenery, costuming, makeup, special effects, cinematography, etc. but the movie doesn't make any sense. It's a montage of scenes intercut from six story lines. There's a claim that the stories are all connected in some way, but except that they all feature the same set of actors I don't see any connection. I've read plot descriptions that say "one act of kindness ripples down through history" but I did not see that. I could not recognize an initial act, or see how it (or much of anything) carried over from one historical period to another. Somehow it wasn't boring, although I often found myself wondering as I watched when I was going to walk out on the movie.

    It's not for everyone...

    by

But, everyone should go and take the challenge of opening their minds to new ideas of what life is all about... especially that of helping one another, whether to better your time in this life, or to carry you into your next, if you believe that kind of thing. The cinematography is amazing, and when you don't listen to the critics "jaded" and "cynical" viewpoints about who played what, and how each character was or was not developed and enjoy it for the STORY that is being told in "their way", then the various "versions" become a challenge as to when, what and where things are happening. And, much of it is SO relevant to today's world and where we are headed if we don't get our heads out of our... well, you know. GO, enjoy, laugh, cry, scream! It's not all pretty, but it is pretty awesome!

    CLOUD ATLAS

A REALLY GOOD MOVIE. MUST PAY ATTENTION BUT IT MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT THE AFFECT YOUR ACTIONS HAVE ON YOUR LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHERS. IT DID NOT FEEL LIKE A 3 HOUR MOVIE. TRULY AMAZING! SOMETHING FOR ALL OF US TO THINK ABOUT.

2 hours and 44 minutes of my life I'll never get back

    by bwil76

Cloud Atlas - I saw the names Tom Hanks and Halle Berry. I saw from the trailer - it was kind of a science fiction movie. That's fine. So, I bought tickets and we saw it last night.

Remember the first time you saw 2001: A Space Odyssey? Remember how confused you were. Everything after the monolith was utterly bwildering, especially at the end. Cloud Atlas is like this with the exception it starts out very confusing, seemly running about a dozen disjointed story lines. It goes that way for over two hours and at the very end they try to tie all of the story lines together. But, by then, I was listening to my iPod. I didn't care how it ended.

A few other things. Tom Hanks plays many characters in the film, and it's hard to understand what he is saying in most of them. I didn't check the rating of this film. Should have. There is a lot of violence and sex in the movie. Totally disappointed with the movie.
