    Fantastic

    by kuhooe

Flight was amazing. I have never seen a movie where i have felt part of the movie - felt so much empathy for the character that i talked to them - don't take that drink - don't buy that bottle - don't pick that up. Throughout the movie, i could not stop talking to Denzel - what a fabulous actor.

    Flight

    by

Flight is well-acted, harrowingly realistic, and thoroughly entertaining. Most of us know and/or are related to someone who suffers from the disease of Alcoholism. Denzel obviously did his homework here; and the result is a portrayal that positively reeks of realism. All of the the cyclical hallmarks of the binge/abstinant alcoholic are on display. We suffer with him, his colleagues, loved ones, and legal team as he surfs a tidal wave of craving, ingesting, enabling, regret, and denial toward the inevitable wipeout that he- and to our great frustration, we- are unable to avoid in this excellent piece of storytelling. A truly great film, this!

    awesome

This movie really suprised me. I thought that this movie went way beyond the trailer. It went into dark areas I didn't think were possible. The acting was great! All of the actors were commited to their roles and played them with such intensity it was phenomonal. Denzel washington nailed it! The directing in the movie and was just perfect and I loved how they wrapped up the movie. Great acting and incredible directing is just the perfect formula for and must-go movie. I would buy this movie on blu-ray and give it 10 out of 10 rating.

    Excellent Flick

This is a great blend of action and study of addiction. Washington was brilliant. The cast was wonderful. It's a long movie...almost 2 and a half hours but I was so involved in the story, it seemed like a shorter movie. Great movie for the 13 and up age group.

    Flight

    by

This movie was not about how the lead character saved the lives of the passengers on a doomed filght by extraordinary airmanship; rather, it's about how he saves himself from crashing and burning at the hands of addiction, facing his demons, and atoning for years of destructive and toxic behavior.

Denzel Washigton's performamce is powerful and multi-faceted, as he shows both the caring responsible man, and the tormented, out-of-control alcoholic who estranges wife and son. As in life, his character comes to an impasse that will either deliver him or damn him.

Life is about the choices we make and how we deal with adversity. When we face tough times with truth and honor, we are defined as having character. When we refuse to confront our demons and our fears, we are labled as weak or lacking character. But it's easy to judge when you don't have an 800 pound gorilla on your back called alcohol combined with denial.

    Fly away to new heights

I took myself on a self-date and bought a ticket online to see Flight. Denzel Washington was terrific ~ no surprise to me! John Goodman stole every scene he was in (which was far too few for me!). Kelly Reilly was such an amazing counterpart to Denzel's addiction. Melissa Leo, though her part was small, was dynamic and engaging.

I don't belive this is a suitable movie for children under the age of 17.

The movie takes you on a rollercoaster ride at the beginning. The crash is suspensful and believeable ~ you feel like you are strapped into a seat right along with the passengers!

Sometimes you are not sure who is on Whip's side (Don Cheadle for instance). It is easy to get caught up in the struggles of the characters in this movie. The ending was unexpected. I will definitely make it to the theatre again to see this movie!

    Don't Miss This!

This was a different type of role for Denzel Washington, who is always a favorite. The movie had me on the edge of my seat at the beginning and you could tell the entire theater was completely involved with the movie. You could hear the entire theater reacting to key scenes...that made it even better~~
We don't go to the movies often but I am so GLAD we did...don't miss this movie, the end is as good as the beginning~~Denzel was brilliant and so was the supporting cast...go see it ...

    Flight

A gripping journey into one man's demise and out of it to redemption.
Mr Washington, as always it seems, has the right touch when it comes to nuanced performances. Perfectly believable as an alcoholic drowning in an assortment of intoxicants and in a sea of denial he first tries to stop his downward spiral by ridding his farm of all things alcoholic and then not so subtly fails in his mission and dives deeper into his sickness and dishonesty. Frankly, his charachter, Whip Whitaker, was disgusting yet one feels while watching a sense of wanting to help the man especially when he discovers an open door to an adjoining hotel room the night before his hearing.
Finally no longer able to keep up his ruse as a maligned hero, integrity slaps him in the face when he refuses to malign a now dead friend and accepts responsibility for all his trespasses.
The best line in the movie came when he said with his sobriety he was finally free even though he was in prison. John Goodman was a trip.

    Review For "Flight"

Boy - I really liked this movie. I only wish that alcoholics (both men and women) would just go see this movie, pay attention to it and see how their lives are just like this pilot's life - empty, and just "living for the ever mighty bottle". That bottle has the power to wreck your lives - it causes marriages and other relationships to break up, costs so much money to drink that people lose their houses, furniture, etc. I hope and pray that people all over this country that have major, major drinking problems., (i.e., they can't get out of bed without having a drink, they can't function or walk or talk without having a drink) - I hope they see this movie, and a big, big lightbulb goes off in their head and they "see the light" about how they are hurting themselves and others by drinking so much or by drinking at all. Denzel Washington played this part very well.

    Not about the Crash

    by Sandy22

The movie is not about the crash, but the airplane sequence itself was terrifying and realistic, made you hold onto your seat. It is about Whip, the pilot, and his personal demons and addictions. Can be seen as a downer kind of movie, as he struggles with booze, coke and relationships, but in a human way which addicts will understand. He trys to rescue another addict, but she ends up helping him. He doesn't think he needs the help and is in great denial. Denzel Washington does a tremendous job with this part. John Goodman plays Dr. Feelgood, Don Cheadle the lawyer you love to hate and Bruce Greenwood is the sympathetic pilot's union rep.

Redeeming yet depressing movie. Enjoyed it.

A MUST See Movie - and I don't say that often!

This show had such a riveting story, I left the theatre feeling like I had been run over by a dump truck. I was ready to take my family back to see it again - and I never see a move twice. Denzel Washington is at his best. The storyline really touched home with me and is so much more than an airplane crash. It is about the difficulties dealing with addiction and figuring out what you really stand for. I've been waiting for Hollywood to roll out a great film for many years - and they finally did it with "Flight".

    Fantastic Flick!

Amazing scenes depicting the crash. I felt like I had been in a plane crash when I left the theater. very real. Top directing from Robert Zemeckis Great performances from Denzel and John Goodman. Definitely not for kids due to R rating (nudity and language). Very compelling. I forgot that I was in a movie. A must see!

    Brilliant performance

This was a brilliant performance by Denzel Washington. The special effects of the crash was great but seemed so real. John goodman was played his role as only John could play it.
