    Flight

    by ednzory

As a recently retired airline employee, this movie hit home. The crash scene was the most frightening I have ever witnessed. It brought back horrible memories. In May, 1979, I was taken out to try to assist survivors from the crash of flight 191 at Chicago's O'Hare airport. There were none. This movie brought back all the horror passengers must have felt prior to the crash. The movie crash scene set up the perfect allegory for the rest of the film. The captain's ability to control his aircraft but unable to control his life. The only questionable scene was at the beginning of the film where he (the captain) does a walk around the aircraft. Captains do not do this, this function is left up to the first officer. Also, the relationship between the flight attendant and the captain should have been developed more to justify his decisions at the hearing held by the NTSB. Aside from those two issues, this was an outstanding movie delving into the human spirit.

This is serious really good movie. While the flight scene is intense, the movie really takes off when you get down to the real life drama of addiction, alcoholism and lies. Denzel AT HIS BEST! A Must See!

    Denzel at his best!

My mom, best friend and I went to see this movie tonite. Suffice it to say, we all loved it! My heart was in my throat during the first ten minutes. Denzel's acting was worthy of an Oscar nomination. It was interesting, sad, funny at times and truly depicted the horror of an alcoholic/drug abuser. We gave it a 9 out of 10...truly enjoyed it!

This is a movie you can sit on the edge of your seat. Denzel was fantastic in the role of the pilot that landed the plane like no one else could. I love this movie and would recommend this to everyone!!! Great MOVIE!!!! :)

    Made me feel

Really good movie. Made me uncomfortable, mad, disgusted, sad. Well acted with an excellent cast. Very realistic and not a typical Hollywood ending, which I really appreciate. Sometimes the best ending isn't a happy ending.

    Denzel Washington soars in "Flight"!

The movie "Flight" is the tale of a tortured soul and how he succumbs to his weakness while he tries desperately to maintain a facade of strength and control. Denzel Washington is superb in this role. He elicits feelings of contempt as well as sympathy for his character from the viewer. The many layers of what is initially seen as a one dimensional character are delicately peeled away as the story unfolds.

    Flight: A first class movie

    by

Ive gotta say, the only reason I decided to see this movie to begin with is because Lincoln wasn't in yet andI wasn't in any mood to see the seven billionth James Bond movie. Ok, first of all, what I expected was a complete boring movie about a fantastic pilot avoiding a catastrophy. But, that assumption turned around, and here's why. The movie started off just as I suspected. The pilot did some crazy piloting. But, then they tested his blood, and found out he was realy drunk. It caught me realy off guard when the movie started focusing more, and more on all the bad things his bad alchohol addiction was for him. It showed me how addicting it can be, and that it's never too late to get help. It also reminded me that lieing never helps your situation, and can only add on more bad. The movie FLIGHT was a phinominal movie and I give it "5 out of 5". No movie has greatly impressed me like the movie FLIGHT did.

    Flight

Once again Denzel Washington shows his ability to take on another dramatic role superbly. This is much less the story of an airplane disaster and much more a story of a man fighting his inner daemons, many times. It's tense, at times frightening and riveting, and at times injected with humor to bring it out of the darkness. John Goodman plays the comic relief and the drug supplier to a scary reality. The metaphor of an airplane in a headlong spiral and the pilot's life in a similar spiral is not missed. ?Flight? is another excellent vehicle for its star with a gripping ending. It's at least a go and for Washington fans, a must go!

    Another awesome performance!

Saw Flight last night (always go to Denzel's movies on opening day) and it was amazing! He gives a multi-dimensional performance as a troubled yet heroic yet brave character. In some parts of the movie you hated him, then felt sorry for him, then admired him. A MUST SEE!!

    Intersting

    by

An interesting chracter analysis. A hero that saves so many lives, while at the same time he's a functioning alcholic and drug user. He's not a very likeable character, and yet he accomplishes something amazing. All in all worth the price of admission

    FLIGHT

Denzel deserves the oscar for this performance. His portrayl of a drunk pilot was so believable, it was scary. If you only see 1 movie this year, this is it!

    Flight = 5 Star Performances

Didn't read any of the reviews or watch an previews beforehand. We went because of the actors (Denzel & Cheadle) and we were greatly surprised, not really surprised, but gratified by the quality of the production. The acting from all the characters was superb; the script is fantastic, as is the direction. It's a movie that deals with adult subject matter, quite contemporary and relevant, and the film expertly avoided a whole bunch of clichés, which it could've just as easily fallen prey to. A fabulous balance of pathos and humor; there wasn't an empty seat nor dry-eye in the house! The applause at the end said it all. Highly recommend it.

Worth a 60-mile round trip to the theater

The story here is important. From what I saw in the trailers, I thought the plot would have something to do with sabotage. It does, but not at all in the way I expected. The story may be fiction, but the truth in it is hard fact. This is serious drama with a heart, and a message that can save lives. You will hear a lot about Washington's performance--his power is awesome. He doesn't just play the role, he makes it come to life with a reality that hits hard. It was thrilling to watch him.

    Lots to like about Flight

    by

Few actors completely embody a role quite like Denzel Washington and Robert Zemeckis weaves the story to a fascinating yet predictable conclusion. You can depend on Washington being able to pull you in and as always you become totally invested in his character. You simultaneously pull for him and hope for his success despite his incredible flaws.

There may have been a little too much backstory in the Kelly Reilly (Nicole) role that doesn't move the story along. We can completely grasp the fact that she is 'damaged' without all of the details of that damage. The story could have been enhanced better with more details and story of the the plane, the accident, and the subsequent investigation, but seemed as though the Directors decision was to concentrate on Washington's turmoil and fight with his own demons.

Don Cheadle was great in his fairly small role, but he is the kind of actor that can stand out in a seemingly second tier part.

We Can All Learn A Great Lesson In This Movie

    by

Not to many movie producers make a good movie that someone can actually learn something from but this was one of them and they picked the best actors as well as actresses to play the roles in this movie. I would suggest everyone seeing this movie because not only did Denzel make you feel the heart of this movie. He did an amazing job as always, but he played the character above and beyond. I believe this man should win an oscar for the character he played. This movie was more than the character because it was more about the message the producer and actors sent out. Watch it because it will change your life or have you thinking about your life in a way you never did before.
