    Such an unexpectedly wonderful movie

When it was first suggested by one of our group of 20 that we go see a movie about a man who lived his life in an iron lung who is a guilt ridden Catholic who sees a sex therapist, I thought it was a joke. As other members of our movie group chimed in that they had heard it was a great movie, and I realized that I would be going to see this movie with the others, I started planning a way to discreetly walk out and sneak into another movie.
But I stayed put, enthralled, for the whole movie (and even though the credits cause I didn't want it to be over, its one of those), From the opening scene (funny and interesting) until the very end, I loved this movie. We all did. It is hard to explain why. But we left feeling really good about life and I woke up thinking about things I should think about more often. Like gratitude.

    The Sessions

Really touching and beautifully acted film. A difficult topic with a beautiful storyline. My husband and I both loved it and so does everyone else we know who has seen it!

    Go see The Sessions....

    by RADDAD

The is a beautiful but, emotionally draining film.

It deals with very real, very difficult topics of the human existence and does so in a profound way. It is truly a must-see for emotionally mature individuals and couples.

    WONDERFUL!

    Incredible

What a beautifufl and moving story The two leads are brilliant in their roles. So emtionally involving. The real Mark O'Brien must have been an amazing person to know. Lots of humor as well.

    The Sessions

This had the potential to be a wonderful story and with skillful acting instead of repeated nudity of a very nice looking Hunt, I would have rated higher. Little is left to the imagination of creativity. I'm sorry, but I would be embarrassed to recommend this to my friends. VERY awkward. Felt like I was at a soft core porno.
As wonderful as John Hawkes portrayed his character, he was overshadowed with mediocrity. If you can't act, get naked.
Forest Gump, House of the Flying Daggers, heck, even soaps portray sexuality with much more class and intimacy. A lot to be said for leaving the act to our imagination. We could of figured it out. Don't you think?
    Very Poor presentation.

    Incredible!!!

This is a beautiful, heart warming movie. Made more so as it is based on an actual like lived in an Iron Lung. The acting is terrific. It is joyous, sad, and hopeful.

    Sessions

A true story about the meaning of passion and true love. Because of the writing and sensitivit;y of the story, the nudity seems incidental.

I loved It.. but not for everyone

I very much enjoyed this well-written and touching story. You have to get the humor right on this film and they did. Very strong performances throughout the cast. The subject is tastefully treated, but there's explicit nudity and the frank sexual content make it not the perfect holiday choice for everyone. I rated it up a bit because I think it deserves everyone's consideration.

    Unexpected and Beautiful

I loved this film, I laughed, I cried...it was a poignant slice of the life of Mark O'Brien.
Helen Hunt and John Hawkes were phenomenal! The writing and directing were fantastic! This film is for adults only, besides the nudity of Ms Hunt (who looks incredible for any age) the subject material is beyond the interest and appreciation of most kids under the age of 14-17 anyway. The story is slowly and perfectly unfolded and beautifully told. It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.

    Good story, but...

    by vmkd55

The story line is fascinating, and most people who have read the reviews will know what it's about. What was strnage was the constant nudity of Helen Hunt. Some reviews have said, "At least it was relevant." Really? I thought the story line was about the sexual issues of the MALE character. Yes, nudity was relevant here, but why was it relevant only for Helen's character? I don't recall a single shot of John's private parts. It always fascinates me when actors say they get naked as part of the "art" of their movie, yet it's almost always the female actors who are the ones who get naked. And even though nudity was relevant here, did we really need to see so many shots of Helen's landing strip?

    The funny,heartfelt,loving sex sessions

    by seecofj

What a remarkable movie about a truly wondrous man. An ode to the human spirit under such bizarre circumstances. Anyone who who is bored with life should see it and perhaps not in a preachy way (no pun intended) rethink his or her own approach to sex, marriage, disability and the idea of life worth living. This movie stays with you for a long time. It's fun, quirky and thought-provoking. The music, actors direction and subject were so well done. Bravo!

    sweet sessions

I liked this movie because it showed people who were kind to the man who was unable to survive without help. ( Isn't that all of us? ) . I loved the heart and courage of this man. I did not believe that the experienced sex therapist would fall for him. I did not believe that the therapist's husband would be jealous.
    The acting was great.

    Great movie!

Story development was excellent, and that is was based on a true story made it even better. It was very funny, sad and happy all at the same time. Definitely recommend it!

    The Sessions

Outstanding acting by a terrific cast. Delves into the complexities of all types of relationships. Smart script. Went with friends - we're all in our 50s. We all felt like it was well worth the time and price of the ticket.

pauljordanjr Watched "The Sessions".Great film that shows love (sex) is even handicapable. However Helen Hunt's pubes and fake Boston accent are weird

PeterPragnell Watched 'The Sessions'. As well as the "she's naked for 90% of her screen time" thing, it's a beautiful, moving, life-enhancing film. #fb
