    Thoughtful and suspenseful

Its a sad commentary when a movie isn't action-packed, like Transformers or Skyfall, that so many say it's boring. The movie builds thoughtfully, and starts to lead you down the wrong path. Twists and turns make this a smart movie. If you're looking for big action, skip it, but if you want a well-written, well-acted movie, go for it. But pay attention, and stay awake, if you want to get the most out of this movie.

    Enjoyed It

Great thriller, starts slowly then builds a tense mystery story. Jude Law and Rooney Mara are compelling leads, with Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones in strong supporting roles. Another good one by Stephen Soderbergh.

Side Effects wil pull you sideways!

I love movies where you expect something and find that the plot takes a dramtic turn. The events, as they unfold, will grab your attention and no let go until it ends. It's a story of how some depend on drugs to make them happy, how greed can keep the best treatment from happening, and how some can use deceit to get what they want. But be careful, the bad guys are not who you expect....

Read All Prescription Labels & Drug Warnings

    by winged1

I honestly LOVED "Side Effects"! It's quite a cerebral-type of thriller, and truly brings into question all those great moral and ethical dilemmas we see in the headlines today. Did the doctor exercise his best judgment? Is the medical community unduly influenced by personal gain due to their consultative relationships with the major pharmaceutical companies? Even more important, why is our society currently so prone to self-medicate?

The acting is great all-around, and I find it difficult to believe that director Steven Soderbergh claims this is his last film. Let's hope he's not quitting Hollywood and just taking a sabbatical. At any rate, "Side Effects" is a must.

Glad I brought my meds with me...

    by

Really good murder mystery thriller--or is it?. It grabbed me early on. I've had a few major side effects reactions in my life and a period where I was in medical limbo suffering and I think a lot of people will relate to the beginning of the story. Then it gets really engrossing. Great cast and I got my popcorn-worth with this one. Loved it. (where'd I put that bottle of Prozac?) what was I saying...?

    Well done thriller

This is a masterpiece of a psychological thriller. We loved it! There is a well written clever plot, fantastic writing and characters and top notch acting. Such a refreshing change from the non-stop violence of most thrillers.

    Decent Movie

    by Pat0211

A good movie with decent acting. I could somehow predict some aspects of the climax but all in all enjoyed the storyline.

From what I have read it's Soderberg's last movie and I think he goes out in style. Not my favorite movie by him though-I loved Traffic better- but again enjoyable experience.

It's not a movie I'd see again but if you're into thrillers you will most likely appreciate the denouement. And like Alfred Hitchcock used to say, don't tell the ending.

    utter garbage

if this is the level of sophistication soderberg has, and obviously it is, it is a wonder he was even allowed to direct a peanut butter commercial. this movie is more than ridiculous, it is insulting.

    Compelling !

    by savile

Very interesting little film. Great performances and twisting and turning plot.
Lots to chew on here, from insider trading to big pharma and its grip on
the medical profession. Really thoroughly enjoyed it, and am still thinking
    about it

If You Like Lesbianism - Go See It -- Otherwise Save Your Money

The movie had a lot of interesting twists and turns, but it really wasn't necessary for the movie to 'go hollywood' and add in Lesbianism. If you like that sort of thing, then you will like this moveie--- We thought it was tasteless. -- Save Your Money!!!!

    Excellent Murder Mystery

This was a really good film - one I want to go and see again before it leaves the theater. There was so much going on all the time, and the acting/script were really good. Good for murder mystery buffs, thriller-lovers, and anyone who wants a couples-night-out but not a chic flick.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Thefull personality imprints of all the characters is timed a little slow. But in the end, all the characters were well-portrayed. I like the entire cast in much that they do. This film shows off some of their better efforts.

    The movie just dragged

    by justnan

The beginning caught interest to see what would unwind in the upcoming scenes. Once it was revealed the movie dragged on to a point I dozed off a few times from utter boredom. I have to say I was disappointed.

As the storyline progressed, it was losing my interest and at most since falling asleep a few times just kind of went huh? Overall better waiting for it to come out on DVD. Not worth paying for. Certainly thought it would be better. Just saying.
