    Eye opening and suspenseful

Rooney Mara delivers a superb and believable performance. Jude Law is casted perfectly for this role. The movie itself has a slow start with some foreshadowing of whats to come at the climax of the movie. You cannot watch this movie at the midnight showing because you will fall asleep. The pace is very slow even when the movie reaches the turning point it still unfolds slowly. with plenty of medical jargon thrown your way it's hard to keep up if uninterested in this topic. Side effects delivers a nice turning point with a twist few see coming thanks too Rooney Mara performance if you keep up it turns into a satisfying movie.

    Side Effects

I found this movie very interesting and saw it as probably educational for all those who are on pscho-active medications. It appeared at first to be about showing how drug companies push their products, but the plot became darker and unexpectedly exciting. I found it extremely clever and fascinating, well acted, and worth going to see.

    Side effects.

If I had read the reviews before we went to the show I probably wouldn't have gone. My husband and i both thought the first half was boring but OMG when I finally figuered out the plot, several times actually gasping, I thought the show was actually good.Katherine Zeta Jones played a different role than I've ever seen her play before. Jude Law was fantastic and Channing Tatum looked good and his wife had a great role.
Depression is a horrible sickness and at first I thought I don't want to see this but I really did enjoy the final outcome and glad we went.

A great "what's going on?" movie

Very rarely are there movies where the audience is wondering what's going on. This movie has plenty of twists. All these twists also expose the relationship between the doctors and pharmaceutical companies. Thought provoking and exciting.

    Disjointed and Confusing

Away from the obvious talent of Rooney Mara, and Jude Law,
CZJ was miscast , as was Judes wife. When non-fiction mirrors
fiction, we still need some degree of type casting , and they missed the mark with these 2 roles. What was confusing ,was Jude Laws method and ultimate diagnosis of the "scam"...the foundation let one to wonder more than necessary, and it moved to conclusions and scenes that portrayed and confirmed his assumptions without the comfort of being our own investigators.

    OMG!

    by kwill1

I love Jude Law but needless to say, I was shocked how slow this movie progressed.....it was so slow I ended up falling asleep in the first 40min-- in the theater.....BUT I can say, the last 35-40 min I saw was great... they threw in a good twist that kept me awake but I could have waited for the DVD!

    Good somewhat odd movie

Intriguing storyline on this, some interesting twists as well as cliches. One best to stay awake or you'll really get caught off guard in trying to figure out the puzzle presented. Incredible performances by Rooney Mara and Jude Law, so perhaps worth the admission price for that. Somewhat of a swipe at the pharmaceutical industry and a dive into folks with drug dependencies. That being said, not sure how I really feel about this one. It's definitely "not" a 'must go' but if you happen to be at the theater and not sure what to see, worth a viewing i guess. But if you miss this one at the theater, it's aok, as catching it on VOD or Cable will save you some bucks.

Good Way to spend an Evening

    by lynnyb

Rooney Mara does an outstanding job as the main character. The story builds and keeps you guessing as you see Jude Law's life crumble after events that he could never have predicted.
The plot twists and turns and overall it was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

    Bet You Can't......

guess the ending, without help from someone who's seen it!!

Tight, well-written script, wonderfully acted by a talented cast!

The important question is: Is he good guy, or not?

    Go and enjoy the suspense!

    Pleasantly surprised

    by Sodium

My husband and I had a date night and felt there weren't many interesting choices this week. We settled on Side Effects because of the reviews. We were very pleasantly surprised that it was such a dramatic movie. The twists in the plot were totally unexpected, and left us talking about it all the way home. The story line was fresh, creative and unpredictable. The acting was excellent, and the characters believable. Because the plot was so well written, I'd like to see it a second time now after knowing the ending. It will keep you thinking for days.

Fabulous move. I recommend it in the theatre, but it will be a popular rental, too.

    Terrible & Totally Non-sense & Boring

You know the thing is with these movies, is, is that they make it look so damn good in the trailer, and then the movie itself is totally crap. This movie just blew it, totally boring and non-sense drama. Very confusing towards the end, not worth watching at all, dont waste your time and money on this boring movie. Really really stupid movie.

    Edge-of-your-seat thriller

wonderful acting, a strong screen-play, and terrific character development are the hallmarks of this terrific film. Roony Mara is spellbinding in her role as a severely depressed housewife coping with the recent return from prison of her husband after a four year absence and the attempts to re-connect and give meaning to a life interrupted.
Jude Law is wonderful as a seriously concerned psychiatrist attempting to help the young hose wife cope with her depression and challenges. The delectable Catherine Zeta-Jones is wonderfully smarmy and sinister as a colleague of Law's in their shared profession of psychiatry and the coincidence of having had the young Mara as a patient previously.
The tension mounts to a fascinating and truly unexpected conclusion that will keep you thinking long after you have left the movie theater. This is a terrific film; don't wait, go see it!

    Side Effects

    by ssm1212

This could have been a thought provoking movie regarding the ease with which anti-anxiety medicines are prescribed in the United States and the unforeseen "side effects" that can occur. Instead it took the easy way out veering off into a ridiculous over convoluted plot.
