    Side Effect-an excellent Movie

I read the movie reviews before I went to the theater, a secondary and cheap theater, only costing 1.5 dollar, haha. A deal for such an excellent movie. Overall the movie exceeded my expectation. I was late for the picture for half an hour. The movie is thought-provoking. I wish I was not late, and wanting to wait for the next round in this cheap theater.

Jude Law is amazing in his role. Channing Tatum was impressive although his role is short. Catherine Zeta-Jones played masterfully. The whole story is thought provoking, and made me to watch it again.

    A memorable movie to go.

    Disappointed

    by

I expected this to be better after reading a critic's review in the local paper. The first half was extremely slow. Better the second half, but called my Mom and said "Don't go see it".

    Fun and Thrilling

Very enjoyable and a must see! I loved Rooney Mara in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and I loved her in Side Effects. Perfect casting and a great story from Soderbergh.

    Side Effects

Walked out during movie. Dark, slow, depressing! This movie is based around a girl taking the current anti-depression drugs and the side effects. If you want to listen to someone's problems with depression -- then this movie is for you. The anti-depression drugs, Zoloft, all the SSRI's mentioned, a lot of people take today. These drugs say "may cause suicidal thoughts, dry mouth, nausea, etc......". Do not send a child to this movie if they are taking any SSRI meds or even ADHD meds.

I do not recommend this movie.

    Side Effects

Once again Rooney Mara steals the screen in the much anticipated film Side Effects. Playing the role of Emily, Rooney Mara showcases her acting genius as a mentally unhinged patient desparate to find a pharmaceutical remedy for her sporadic episodes of depression. After a failed attempt to commit suicide, her character becomes the subject of a new experimental treatment dubbed Ablixa. With her spirits at an all time high, her character appears miraculously cured by the miracle drug until a cruel act of fate turns her world upside down. It's a film ingrained with explosive plot points and heart wrenching sequences that is sure to entertain moviegoers of all ages.

EXTREMELY WELL ACTED AND DIRECTED. HAS MORE TWISTS AND TURNS THAN A CORK SCREW. EVERY TIME YOU THINK YOU'VE GOT IT FIGURED OUT, HERE COMES AN OTHER TWIST OR TURN. EVEN THE CONCLUSION, WHEN YOU ARE SURE ITS ALL PLAYED OUT HAS ONE SURPRISE LEFT

    DON'T MISS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Smart, well-made psychological thriller

    by jwis

This is a smart, well-made film and Rooney Mara is great as the fragile wife. The first half of the movie moves a lot slower than the second half, but there's a lot to pay attention to. It's much more of a psychological thriller rather than an action thriller. It would definitely take a second viewing to catch everything that's in there.

    Fabulous!

I was a bit skeptical about this movie -- BH really wanted to see this for some of the "dreamy" actors -- but it was way more than pretty faces. What I thought was going to be a "ho hum" movie caught me off-guard with the multiple plot twists and the great story line.

This script attracted four top-notch actors for the lead roles. Rooney Mara (recently "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") shows that her her nomination for an Academy Award for TGWTDT was no fluke. Zeta-Jones is, of course, predictably fantastic. Jude Law gives a performance that may well earn him another Academy Award nomination.

This is one not to miss.

Terrible movie. Weak. Catherine Zeta's character unbelievable. Lead female, mumbled through you the entire move. Waste of Jude Law's talent. Sound in the movies was terrible and every realistic outside noise was brought in for realism. I wanted to shut the window so I could hear.

...finally!; a drama that you know has to have an explanation for the events, but you are not sure. Spoiler alert!=It reminded me of Edward Norton in Primal Fear.

    Well worth the time!

Mara does a wonderful job!! Very well constructed movie with lots of plot twists. Really don't want to give away the movie, but pay attention to the details. Thinking back it all adds up.

The commercials give nothing away !

I love to be in a theater when the entire audience gasps at once. This movie was only what I expected on a very basic level. From the commercials you can tell that someone is on medication and they may or may not have murdered someone. Yep, that much was true. What actually happened in the movie was a big surprise to me. Neither the good guy nor the bad guy were who I thought they'd be, based on what I'd seen in trailers. I definitely want to see this again. There were a couple things I've been thinking about since I saw it last night and I'd just like one more look at them.

I highly recommend this, if you're into psychological thrillers.

I liked Jude Law's performance. But the film was rather lowering generally. Not a 'feel good' or thrilling experience. Kind of interesting ... Sorry, that's the best I can say about it

    Edge-of-your-seat thriller

wonderful acting, a strong screen-play, and terrific character development are the hallmarks of this terrific film. Roony Mara is spellbinding in her role as a severely depressed housewife coping with the recent return from prison of her husband after a four year absence and the attempts to re-connect and give meaning to a life interrupted.
Jude Law is wonderful as a seriously concerned psychiatrist attempting to help the young hose wife cope with her depression and challenges. The delectable Catherine Zeta-Jones is wonderfully smarmy and sinister as a colleague of Law's in their shared profession of psychiatry and the coincidence of having had the young Mara as a patient previously.
The tension mounts to a fascinating and truly unexpected conclusion that will keep you thinking long after you have left the movie theater. This is a terrific film; don't wait, go see it!
