    Terrible save your $$

This movie was so boring I almost feel asleep. I thought they were spiking my soda with Anti -Depressant because I was in such a stopper from boredom. Catherine Zeta-Jones is the worst ******* ever, she was so unbelievable. It was like watching a virgin portraying a hooker.

    Fantastic!

Plot twists I never saw coming! Very unlike the predictability of most Hollywood movies. So well done and riveting! Very intriguing story line. I can't recommend it enough.

    Meh

I don't Catherine Zeta Jones believable in her role, and I found the audience torture part a little dragged out. It did trick me though - best not to know anything at all about what is going to happen before you go so you'll enjoy that part. It's been done before though.

    Side Effects

According to reviews, sounds like this film should be titled: "Cheap Effects". Don't want to be disappointed as I was with "Promised Land" which should have been titled: "Empty Promises". Apparently, the film industry is using current controversial issues to make phony/hyped movies to make money and exploit filmgoers. I'm tired of paying good money for movies, only to be let down by unfulfilled expectations of serious themes. No wonder Hollywood is going belly up. So glad I read the reviews first this time.

    Soderberg strikes again...

    by

...with an extremely smart and sexy thriller.

All the players are perfectly cast, the performances spot on and the plot secrets revealed with great skill.

I want to see it again to catch what I missed the first time.

    Eye opening and suspenseful

Rooney Mara delivers a superb and believable performance. Jude Law is casted perfectly for this role. The movie itself has a slow start with some foreshadowing of whats to come at the climax of the movie. You cannot watch this movie at the midnight showing because you will fall asleep. The pace is very slow even when the movie reaches the turning point it still unfolds slowly. with plenty of medical jargon thrown your way it's hard to keep up if uninterested in this topic. Side effects delivers a nice turning point with a twist few see coming thanks too Rooney Mara performance if you keep up it turns into a satisfying movie.

A great "what's going on?" movie

Very rarely are there movies where the audience is wondering what's going on. This movie has plenty of twists. All these twists also expose the relationship between the doctors and pharmaceutical companies. Thought provoking and exciting.

    VERY good surprise!

It's always a treat to see a good movie; good acting, excellent plot, fast paced. We loved the little twists & turns in the story. Wish there were more movies like this one.

    Side effects.

If I had read the reviews before we went to the show I probably wouldn't have gone. My husband and i both thought the first half was boring but OMG when I finally figuered out the plot, several times actually gasping, I thought the show was actually good.Katherine Zeta Jones played a different role than I've ever seen her play before. Jude Law was fantastic and Channing Tatum looked good and his wife had a great role.
Depression is a horrible sickness and at first I thought I don't want to see this but I really did enjoy the final outcome and glad we went.

    A superb suspense tale

    by pburris

If director Steven Soderbergh truly retires from the Hollyewood movie business permanently, Side Effects will prove he left at the top of his game. Credible characters, chilling secrets, and a gripping story combine with perfect pacing and a lethal atmosphere that grips the viewer by the neck. Only, I hope Soderbergh *WON'T* retire from movie making -- I think he's hit his stride for some time, now, and he has a lot more movies in him.

    A Near Miss

The professional critics who likened this to Hitchcock's psychological thrillers were obviously on crack. It has a great cast, and the story is good, but the movie suffers from a general lack of tension. I figured out quite early what was really going on, and from there on, and ... ho, hum. There was no sense of menace or danger or even empathy as Jude Law slipped into obsession and watched his life escaping from him.

This movie had great potential and could have been so much more than it was.

It was a very powerful and serious movie. Everyone should see it, except for children under the age of 13, in my opinion. There were surprises in the movie which kept me interested.

    So - So

Was not thrilled with this movie. It had been hyped as "Hitchcockian" - far from it in my opinion.
Sir Alfred Hitchcock would roll over in his grave to have his name/style associated with this film. There were perhaps 2 saving graces in this movie: its length - 105 minutes - thank God it was not one minute longer; and Jude Law. I could certainly have done without the scene towards the end that added nothing to the movie except nausea.... I give it 2 thumbs down.

    Disjointed and Confusing

Away from the obvious talent of Rooney Mara, and Jude Law,
CZJ was miscast , as was Judes wife. When non-fiction mirrors
fiction, we still need some degree of type casting , and they missed the mark with these 2 roles. What was confusing ,was Jude Laws method and ultimate diagnosis of the "scam"...the foundation let one to wonder more than necessary, and it moved to conclusions and scenes that portrayed and confirmed his assumptions without the comfort of being our own investigators.

    OMG!

    by kwill1

I love Jude Law but needless to say, I was shocked how slow this movie progressed.....it was so slow I ended up falling asleep in the first 40min-- in the theater.....BUT I can say, the last 35-40 min I saw was great... they threw in a good twist that kept me awake but I could have waited for the DVD!
