    Twisted and good

    by

The story unfolds in an unexpected way about halfway through, and you have to pay attention to keep up with everything. There is a lot of content about depression and drugs, and a little bit of violence, so be ready for that. Overall it is a very good movie and I'm glad I saw it.

Great cast, but did not really like the story. A little confusing at times. How in the heck could be married to Channing Tatum and (not going to spoil it for others). I would wait for the DVD.

    Really bad movie

    by timkell

I love Steven Soderbergh. This movie stinks.

The one redeeming quality is that it's short, so you don't have much of a problem getting through it.

Other than that it's terrible. It starts off seeming like a potentially interesting examination of the pitfalls of the pharmaceutical/medical industry when it comes to psychiatry. And it ends in some whacked out conspiracy seemingly developed by strangers over a several year period while a husband was in jail.

Not believable and too shallow. Skip this one.

Terrible movie. Weak. Catherine Zeta's character unbelievable. Lead female, mumbled through you the entire move. Waste of Jude Law's talent. Sound in the movies was terrible and every realistic outside noise was brought in for realism. I wanted to shut the window so I could hear.

    SEE THIS MOVIE!!

    by Miss JD

This movie is full of intrigue, twists and turns. Rooney Mara did an outstanding job. I highly recommend it. This movie is not for kids. No explosions, no profanity, just a plain, good storyline. It should put the pharmaceutical industry on notice.

This is an engrossing and disturbing film with interesting plot twists. Not recommended for those drawn to fluff, special effects and vampires, but strongly recommended to those drawn to a good plot involving complex human beings and excellent performances. Definitely not for children.

    Side Effects

I actually had some negative side effects from wasting my money and time on this terrible movie. The trailer made this movie look more like a psychological horror pic but instead we got a typical murder mystery which was badly acted (except for Rooney Mara, who was excellent) and boring. You can see the plot lines a mile away through thick fog. The so called twists weren't very twisty but were predictable. The first half of this movie was like watching a documentary on how bad the pharmaceutical industry is and it is pretty bad so good for the producers to bring some light on the criminals in that industry. The second half was the predictable part with no real surprises. When my popcorn was gone, I should have left. One bright spot to note. Rooney Mara's performance was so good, it almost made seeing this horrible movie worthwhile.

    Side Effects

I enjoyed the film, however it seemed like it was a remake of another movie. The plot lacked depth as to why a career/life was ruined. There was something suspenseful about the movie because it kept my interest throughout but the why of the storyline again makes the movie a little boring and predictable.

    Good - not great.

    by feeby64

Most of the cast was replaceable. The ******* stuff was unnecessary & didn't work for me. Actually, now that I think about it - it was mostly boring.

    by jimt222

NO SPOILERS: Tightly directed and fast paced. Stellar performances. Very stylish and modern NYC setting. Hugely entertaining!

    Edge-of-your-seat thriller

wonderful acting, a strong screen-play, and terrific character development are the hallmarks of this terrific film. Roony Mara is spellbinding in her role as a severely depressed housewife coping with the recent return from prison of her husband after a four year absence and the attempts to re-connect and give meaning to a life interrupted.
Jude Law is wonderful as a seriously concerned psychiatrist attempting to help the young hose wife cope with her depression and challenges. The delectable Catherine Zeta-Jones is wonderfully smarmy and sinister as a colleague of Law's in their shared profession of psychiatry and the coincidence of having had the young Mara as a patient previously.
The tension mounts to a fascinating and truly unexpected conclusion that will keep you thinking long after you have left the movie theater. This is a terrific film; don't wait, go see it!

    What a surprise!

I went in thinking I knew what kind of movie I was seeing... then it turned into another kind! We liked it very much. But don't think about it or try to learn things in advance... just walk in and see it.

Worth a trip to the theatre

This was a good movie with a surprise ending. I like the characters and the actors they had portray them. It almost puts you in the frame of mind of Malice! Great movie.
