''I share my award, as I have my life, with her.''

    by

Hitchcock is a fun movie going experience for fans of the master of suspense, or just fans of film in general. The Pros: Anthony Hopkins, a brilliant actor who portrays Alfred Hitchcock without flaw. Definitely should be an Oscar contender for best actor. The Scenery, from the houses to the 1959 Paramount Pictures studios, the scenery added to the realism of the film. Helen Mirren, a strong actress and very believable in the role of Lady Hitchcock, the struggle between the two and also the love creates an undeniable chemistry between Hopkins and Mirren. The Cons: Scarlett Johansson, I love her as an actress, she wasn't terrible at all, but she was very unconvincing in the role of Janet Leigh, perhaps this was on the filmmakers for not centering the film around the production of Psycho. The Direction, The direction of the movie was great, but jumped around a lot between the love story line and the production of Psycho. Overall a fun and very enjoyable film with great performances. 3/5

This is a must see for Hitchcock fans

    by

Even though it has not received a lot of nominations, Hitchcock is one of the finest works of this year. With a great cast, the story of the making off of Psycho is relevant to every person who says is interested in movies. Hitchcoc was one of the best directors in history, and its passionate work should be known. Eventhough the plot about the making off is really interesting, which is really revealing is the love story between the two main protagonists. If you are a cinephile you HAVE to see it, if you are a Hitchcock fan, you will be in AWE all the time. And it does not surprise that it didnt receive any nominations: Hitchcock himself never won an Oscar (just an Honorary). As we can see, the critics are still afraid of him...

Love Hitchcock And Hopkins Is Always Good!

    by

Very good movie. Hitchcock is a movie that takes a look at an extraordinary director from an unexpected angle. I was expecting more of a documentary film, and was surprised when I realized it was actually a love story. The movie portrays Hitchcock during the most stressful time in his life making Psyco. The story focuses on the stress in Hitchcock's marriage as he struggles to create his greatest movie of all time. Definitely not what I expected. Still a very good movie. Recommend to all Alfred Hitchcock fans. Anthony Hopkins is always on the top of his game when acting.

    Quite entertaining

I went to this movie because the cast is so good, but I didn't expect much. It turned out to be much more amusing and lighthearted than I expected. Well-paced, and the movie just zipped along cheerfully. Anthony Hopkins was a little odd in the part, but Helen Mirren was terrific.

    Thank God for the Mrs.

    by

This might make you dislike fat people -- Anthony Hopkins' Hitch, while a genius, is also portrayed as pretty gross: tearing through all the SPAM in the house in a late night snack, leering at every pretty blonde on the lot, and slurping booze like a ten year old with a glass of Kool-Aid.

It makes Alma, played by the spectacularly subtle Helen Mirren, that much more appealing.

Their relationship is the heart of the story, and it's really quite beautiful.

    Hitchcock - an excellent movie

'Hitch' as he liked to called was an odd duck. He had a gift for presenting intrigue and suspense. Basically, this movie shows his emotional ups and downs in the creation of the masterpiece and classic, "Psycho". Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren were both great, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the movie.

    Hitchcock Kills It

    by

Very well done look at the making of PYSCHO.

Hopkins and Mirren are extraordinary in their respective roles, and it's fun to the see a stellar supporting cast re-create PYSCHO.

The make up on Hopkins is incredible. It's worth seeing for just his transformation.

My only complaint is that we didn't get to see enough re-creations. I could have sat throw another 20 minutes easily.

    Overall, it's a fun ride.

    Hitchcock's a Hit

Two award winning actors, a fantastically done biography about the great one-what else is there to say? The movie is most definitely worth your time and consideration. Mostly about Hitch's trails and tribulations making the movie Psycho, but goes in good depth about the man, and also the very important woman behind the man. Totally recommended!

    Good Not Great

Usually movies made for the Big Screen are better than TV movies. This is not the case for Hitchcock. After seeing "The Girl" on HBO I was intrigued by Hitchcock, the man. "The Girl" was about the making of "The Birds" and Hitchcock's obsession with Tippi Hedren. It is a must see. This was a good follow up movie, but not the best. As wonderful an actor as Anthony Hopkins is, his portrayal of Hitchcock does not hold a candle to the HBO version. If you are a fan of behind the scenes looks at high profile people, as I am, see this movie. But be sure to add "The Girl" to your must see list. You decide which is the more compelling story, and better portrayal of the characters.

    VERY ENTERTAINING...

    by DBee

It's no surprise that Anthony Hopkins does such a great job, as does Helen Mirren...but it is the script, direction and editing that really makes this so worth seeing!

    Wonderful Surprise

Why is it when critics say something is excellent I am far more disappointed than when they give something an average review.
It was clear that this film was about a turning point in a great film maker's career. Hitchcock's shifting from the suspense and intrigue to the suspense with horror. Anthony Hopkins does an excellent portrayal and is outstanding!
The casting of the film over all was wonderful. It gives you the amount of insight you need about the man and his personal life, and his passions at that juncture. It is humorous, and playful, just as he was when he introduced his show on the "Alfred Hitchcock Hour". His struggles with Paramount and the censor board were reminisce of those scenes with Howard Hughes in "The Aviator" but far from a hack. It is Hitchcock dealing with censorship and the Studio not Howard Hughes. A phenomenally entertaining movie, that keeps one smiling and curious. A wonderful tribute to a wonderful film maker!

    Why Cut Me? Ahhhhh!

    by

This is the best movie I have seen hands down. The shock, suspense, the love story, the things we didn't know about Hitchcock. What a wonderful film.
One of the best I have seen in forever. I truly mean that.
This movie has some awards coming it's way.
Anthony Hopkins is brilliant as always, and Helen Mirren shines, and is as beautiful as ever.
Spine tingling fun, and bone shattering laughter will be yours this holiday season if you see this film. I promise you. With some terror in your eyes, with shame you should be stabbed and murdered on Que if you don't see this film, because you would truly be missing out.

    Hitchcock

For those who saw the original "Psycho" in the late 1950's this movie is completely capturing as Anthony Hopkins portrayal of Alfred Hitchcock is spellbinding. The story of the making of the movie great. Including the dark side of Hitchcock's personality drew on the human side of the master and showed some of his frailties. Helen Mirren is perfect as Hitches wife and partner. Cudos to those who made this movie.

    Hitchcock

Probably age-limited to those who saw the original Psycho in 1960, and there were plenty. With such an acclaimed film, it was interesting to learn how very difficult it was for its release!! An inside view of Alfred and Alma's troubled marriage well acted by all of the actors. I would rate this as a so-so movie.

For the serious Hitchcock fans only...

Just checked out Hitchcock last night. I for one loved it but I am a big fan of the director the subject of the film, so I went in with excitement. As a stand alone film I thought the story could have been a little stronger but overall the performances were spot on and amazing. Anthony Hopkins & Helen Mirren hit the mark and became the couple that ruled suspense and macabre film kingdom as the time in hollywodd. And the supporting cast was amazing! I came away satisfied that I step into the voyeristic view of the great director and his wife in a pivotal time in his movie career. It was fun to see how Psycho came to be. I was inspired.
