    Unexpected surprise

I was very excited to see this movie but only because I thought it looked cute. To my surprise this fantastic production had me crying, laughing and on my seat with suspense. Love the mystery and twists. GREAT GREAT STORY!!!

Too many differences from the book

If you haven't read the book don't bother seeing the movie, because it will make no sense to you. It jumped around way too much and was impossible to follow. If you have read the book it will be incredibly disappointing, so many things were changed it was almost like a completely different story. I doubt they will be making the rest of the books, because this one just did not live up to its potential.

    Beautiful Creatures

This movie was well scripted. The characters and events were believable. My daughter and I were "glued" to the screen the entire time. We already have plans to see it again and look forward to a sequel.

It was decent but expected more

It had all the good features witches, magic, spells, and of course a love story. I wanted to see more. Battles and forbidden secrets but it was another teenage story that didn't have too much suspense. It was okay but if they make another one, please make it more towards adult audience.

    Highly Disapointed

I read the book before the premiere and was extremyl disapointed to find that i did not recognize the story line. You would think that the movie was a pre-qual almost. i mean one of the major notions of the book was that Lena and Ethan could communicate telepathically. In the classroom, Lena was supposed to be sharpening her pencil when the windows broke and nobody but her was really hurt. not to mention there were more incidents like the Winter formal. And what happend to the Sweet Sixteen Party concert. and Ethan knew about Link and Ridley. So really what the hell did i watch yesterday cause that was not Beautiful Creatures. as for the Critic comments. I agree the accents were terrible. No cratch that they were etrocious. But for the most part i like the acting/ I just wished that the director stuck to the realy story cause the book was fantastic and i look foward to reading Chaos, Darkness, and Redemption.

It hurts me to say this about a movie about a book i really loved

    by kellyg7

I have two main things to say. 1) not like the book. And i dont mean ok they left out some stuff just to simplify things. They left out marian. Really? And just went ahead and made Amma the Keeper? Ugh... And the ending of the movie - HOW COULD YOU DO THAT?!?!? 2) that absolute darling of a nerdy-but-hot beatnik-y boy/man was wonderful. i cannot wait to see him in other things, he's going to be great. i dont think his portrayal of Ethan was necessarily true to the book. He came across as charming, outgoing, etc. Ethan in the book seemed much more introspective, quiet. But i liked it. Like REALLY liked it. He was perhaps a more likeable Ethan than the character in the book. Kudos to him.

    if you read the book...

    by

dont go! first of all, ethan looks way older than 16 ,there was no aunts ,macon had no dog and ethan's dad was left out and marian aswell which changes the story in the movie a lot than the book.there was no" mind talkin" between lena and ethan and the visions they had together had no point in the movie since they changed one important part!it was terrible.if u didnt read the book, i woul say it was okay but still not good.poor acting of the main characters.

The books are great but the movie was OK

If you have read the books then you will not be pleased with the movie at all. It hardly follows the story line and even takes out main caracters from the book. I was so excited to see the movie and left even more dis appointed.

Sorry but recreating a book into a movie means sticking to the book.

    Romance the modern way

While Beautiful Creatures might not be for the arthouse crowd, it certainly accomplishes what it sets out to do. Classic themes are played out here with new twists but no big surprises. However! That being said, Emma Thompson delivers a masterful performance and Jeremy Irons is delightful as always. Our young couple puts in an emotional and believable boiling romance and you'll find yourself highly engrossed (if you're in the mood for a teen, paranormal romance, mind you).

Definitely see it if you like: 1.) Emma Thompson 2.) Cheesy but undeniable teenage love 3.) "Magical" fiction.

    Disappointment for Book Fans

    by

When any film is adapted from a book there are going to be discrepancies and scenes left out, but the Beautiful Creatures film was nothing like the book. First, there is no Marian. She is an essential character and would not have been that hard to include. The film does not include or even explain Ethan's dad. Ridley's character is supposed to help Saraphine during Lena's claiming. In the end Lena is supposed to have one green eye and one gold eye. Finally, I had a huge problem with Lena wiping Ethan's memory of her in the end. Where did that come from?

The film itself did have good music, and the special effects were really good. However, as a fan of the book, I was disappointed that the film didn't follow the story line more closely.

It was actually a good movie

    by

I wanted to see this from the start. I was pleased with the script and content. I would definitely recommend this movie to any one who loves witches and wizards (or Casters :)).

    So much more than Twilight!

We were very entertained the entire movie. The cast is very good. The lead boy is absolutely worth watching. He steals the movie with his southern charm.
Came right home and downloaded the first book of the series.
    Highly recommend.

    Live a Little

    by

I didn't want to see this movie at all. The previews for it looked decent, but the advertising for the movie, overall, was terrible. They could have done so much with advertising, but I get that they spent fifty to sixty million on the movie--wowza! The two main characters weren't well-known, which was taking a risk, but the story was sweet and quirky, sometimes sexy and dangerous. This movie lets the lady take control and leaves the guy trailing behind, something that doesn't usually happen in movies; I really appreciated the female-driven plot. At first, the accent killed me, but I didn't really notice once the movie got going. It's a good movie to see, end of story. I just hope that viewers will give the two lead characters a chance and actually get to theaters, even if it's only because they were drawn in by secondary characters. Let's hope for more of the series!

    Beautiful Creatures

    by

I liked it very much. I had not read the book, nor knew the storyline beforehand. Plot was good. Editing was not good. Things seemed to be happening out of sequence. Some of the charactors story lines/personalities needed to be expanded upon, such as Amma, and the cousins (Emmy Rossom's character) and other family members. Special effects were very good.
