    Live a Little

    by

I didn't want to see this movie at all. The previews for it looked decent, but the advertising for the movie, overall, was terrible. They could have done so much with advertising, but I get that they spent fifty to sixty million on the movie--wowza! The two main characters weren't well-known, which was taking a risk, but the story was sweet and quirky, sometimes sexy and dangerous. This movie lets the lady take control and leaves the guy trailing behind, something that doesn't usually happen in movies; I really appreciated the female-driven plot. At first, the accent killed me, but I didn't really notice once the movie got going. It's a good movie to see, end of story. I just hope that viewers will give the two lead characters a chance and actually get to theaters, even if it's only because they were drawn in by secondary characters. Let's hope for more of the series!

    Better Than Expected

I get why people don't like it, because it missed out on lots of vital things from the book... But to be honest, I didn't like book and I really enjoyed the movie. It was funny, but dramatic and all around not at all as ridiculous as I thought it was going to be. Great movie, and good way to portray witches in a new way that appeals to teens. I'm not a fan of romance anything and I will probably end up going to go see it again. I suggest you go see it in the theaters for the full experience while you still can.

Sleepy at times, but well done overall

    by

I enjoyed this movie. The plot was interesting, and the actors were fantastic. If you have read the book, keep in mind that novels and cinema are two different genres. This movie was visually entertaining.

    I really enjoyed it

I have never read the book and I absolutely loved it! After seeing the movie I immediately googled the nearest Barnes & Noble so I could read the next book in the series because I want to know what comes next ASAP.

    really loved it.

    by

This film was very Twilight/Hunger Game/Harry Potter-esque. It's the new novel to film franchise that could blow up just like the previous mentioned. However the story is told from the male's point of view and it's kind of refreshing to see things switched up. There's still the mystical element, witchcraft but the way its done kind of cheesy but nothing we've seen before. I also really enjoy the Southern element, the film takes place in a fictional South Carolina town, filled with overly religious townspeople. Typical love story, some clever comedy and very intriguing use of word play. Overall, see it, I really enjoyed it and I hope they can make the sequels, I'd love to see another franchise pop up.

It was actually a good movie

    by

I wanted to see this from the start. I was pleased with the script and content. I would definitely recommend this movie to any one who loves witches and wizards (or Casters :)).

    Not like the book

Both my 11 year old daughter and I have read the books. While I was disappointed with the many differences between the book and the movie, my daughter still thought it was pretty good. If you love the books, I think you might be a little disappointed.

    A Pretty Good Movie

    by

First off, No, I have not read the book. But, take that with a grain of salt. No movie is ever going to be like book. You can't have successful adaptations from a book to a movie because the movie would be too long.

At first, the movie took a little bit to take off, but once it did take off, I wanted to stay in my seat and not miss a thing. As today's science fiction movies go, it wasn't up there with Twilight and Harry Potter, but it did rate in my mind as movie go to. As for a movie that I'd watch more than once- ehhh. Maybe not. But, I certainly don't feel like I wasted my money either.

So, go check out Beautiful Creatures and judge for yourself.

    Beautiful Creatures

    by

Well Although I went into the theater excited to see the movie. I left utterly disappointed. I have read the entire series and couldn't wait to see the story brought to life. Now I understand the movie will NEVER be as good as the book. I know this as fact. But I have never seen a movie that has strayed this far from the book. For me it ruined the movie. I found it hard to like it at all.. If you haven't read the book. you may love it.. IF you did be forewarned.

If you loved the book, you may be disappointed.

I was entertained, but truly disappointed to see that some of my favorite characters from the book had been omitted all together. Marion was missed at the expulsion hearing, and then in the library. Amma as the librarian didn't even make sense. I don't know why they wouldn't find it important to include the best friend of Ethan's mother. In the sequel, will Amma then train the new keeper? Silly.

    A Total Abomination

Let me start by saying I had no issues with the cast. The young lady who played Lena was very good, Ethan was totally adorable, and Viola Davis and Jeremy Irons were magnificent, as always. If you are a fan of the books like I am, you will find this movie appalling. Some idiot took a lovely, intricate story of life, love, and loss weaved together over the course of 4+ books and turned it into an hour and thirty minutes of pure crap. So much is wrong in the movie that it would probably easier just to indicate what they got right, and even that is a stretch. I hated this film and I sincerely hope they don't add insult to injury by making a second.

It hurts me to say this about a movie about a book i really loved

    by kellyg7

I have two main things to say. 1) not like the book. And i dont mean ok they left out some stuff just to simplify things. They left out marian. Really? And just went ahead and made Amma the Keeper? Ugh... And the ending of the movie - HOW COULD YOU DO THAT?!?!? 2) that absolute darling of a nerdy-but-hot beatnik-y boy/man was wonderful. i cannot wait to see him in other things, he's going to be great. i dont think his portrayal of Ethan was necessarily true to the book. He came across as charming, outgoing, etc. Ethan in the book seemed much more introspective, quiet. But i liked it. Like REALLY liked it. He was perhaps a more likeable Ethan than the character in the book. Kudos to him.

I need to read the book..

So based on other reviews the book was better than the movie.. well arnt they all :) The movie was okay.. rather long but that left room for details. The main characters were great actors and the special effects were okay not fantastic to the point were I would want to buy the blu ray but good. Sometimes I got the feeling the movie producers and directors were expecting this film to be epic.. Twilight epic. But not quite there.. nice try though. Cute love story and little to unrealistic for a 15 and 16 year old.

Disappointing, regardless if you read the book or not.

This was disappointing all the way around, I havn't read the books but the movie lacked in all areas, it was too short to cover the type of story they wanted to convey. It was a waste of money, save yourself the time.
