    Very Interesting

It was what I expected. It was good movie. Kinda needed a bit more action but overall it was good. I would love the next book made into a movie too.

    A Total Abomination

Let me start by saying I had no issues with the cast. The young lady who played Lena was very good, Ethan was totally adorable, and Viola Davis and Jeremy Irons were magnificent, as always. If you are a fan of the books like I am, you will find this movie appalling. Some idiot took a lovely, intricate story of life, love, and loss weaved together over the course of 4+ books and turned it into an hour and thirty minutes of pure crap. So much is wrong in the movie that it would probably easier just to indicate what they got right, and even that is a stretch. I hated this film and I sincerely hope they don't add insult to injury by making a second.

    Didn't Want it to End

According to the people who read the book this doesn't follow the book; however, it was a great movie and I was startled when it ended because I wanted to see more of the story. The cinematography was pretty intense in some scenes. All the actors were great characters and brought the story to life - looking forward to the next one!

    Not much going on...

    by

It wasn't a bad movie per se, but it wasn't great either. I was constantly waiting for something exciting to happen and then the movie was over. I guess I just expected more magic action, as it was almost nonexistent.

I need to read the book..

So based on other reviews the book was better than the movie.. well arnt they all :) The movie was okay.. rather long but that left room for details. The main characters were great actors and the special effects were okay not fantastic to the point were I would want to buy the blu ray but good. Sometimes I got the feeling the movie producers and directors were expecting this film to be epic.. Twilight epic. But not quite there.. nice try though. Cute love story and little to unrealistic for a 15 and 16 year old.

Worth Seeing if You Like This Kind of Thing

    by

While Beautiful Creatures was certainly better than I was expecting, it was still not as good as it could have been.

The story was the typical supernatural Romeo and Juilet that we've come to expect from teen paranormal novels, though there were a few pleasant twists.

And while the styling was absolutely stunning, the best part of the film really was the costuming and set design, I really wish that film makers would spend more time on their CGI effects if they insist on using them. There were some really beautiful or disturbing moments in the film, only to be ruined by cheesy visual effects.

I very much enjoy paranormal romance, so I enjoyed this mostly by default, but if it's not your thing, you could probably skip this with no trouble.

    Beautiful Creatures

If you like fantasy and mystery, you are in for a treat! This was a wonderful whimsical yet at times sinister movie. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it and would see it again.

    This was Beautiful!

Not your typical supernatural movie; it's more like a romantic drama with it's own family issues. And I heard a rumor it's a series ... I think I'll go read this book while waiting for the other movies to be released.

Fairly relevant if you haven't read the books...not so much if you have.

While most of the story line was preserved in this rendition of Beautiful Creatures...I was greatly disappointed that one of my favorite characters from the book series, Marian Ashcroft (The town's librarian in the book versions), was left out. Most of the story held up, with a few changes to shorten the flow of the story...but that is the one thing I still find unforgivable in this movie. Otherwise I might have voted it closer to the 'Go' side. It is adequate for viewers of a younger age of course...but encourage your kids to read the series...many relevant ideals behind the story were skipped over in order to prepare it for a presentation on film.

    Lost

This movie was an okay movie.. but the problem was me and my friends were like lost the whole movie. The ending started to make since but overall not the best movie to go watch. Unless your a good thinker. The setting and fantasy things were amazing!

    It was pretty good, considering.

Having never read the books, I can't say whether or not it's a true adaptation. Personally I liked aspects of the movie but hated others.
Most of the actors were really good. Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson were spectacular as always. Emmy Rossum was a scene stealer. The girl who played Lena did a very good job as did the guy who played Ethan. The imagery was incredible from the sets to the costumes.
However, I feel that some parts of the movie were really choppy and not too well explained or slow. I honestly didn't want to see this movie at first. My friend dragged me to it, but it wasn't too bad. I've been dragged to other movies that were way worse (Twilight). This movie was infinitely better than Twilight because the characters were real and more believable and the actors were more talented. All in all it was a pretty good movie

    Don't put yourself through it....

I had high hopes based on the trailer. Really had my curiosity peaked. I was SO disappointed. It was really poor. It tried to mix a little Harry Potter knock off and a little Twilight but fell WAY short of both of those series (which I love). The story was ok but the dialogue kept slipping in to sillyness. Special effects were spotty and few and far between. Almost walked out...and I have not walked out on a movie since the 80's :) Don't go...

    The book was much better

    by

If you read the book and then went to see the movie, you will be disappointed. I went with about 50 people from my school and not one said the movie was better than the book. They took out key details that they had in the book. If there hadn't been a book, it would've been a lot better.

    waste of a movie

    by

At first I was pleased...the casting seemed perfectly done in this movie. But as it wore on, it became clear that they so severely butchered the story line from the book to the point of making the plot weak and pointless and really not worth sitting through. Its such a shame as I really was excited to see this movie. I'm sure it was a budget issue, but this book coming to life provided so many exciting possibilities of using special effects to really bring the story to life and the result was just lackluster. Disappointed fan here.

    Beautiful Creatures

    by

It was a pleasant surprise to find that the movie was pretty humorous along with being kind of dark. This is definitely a good movie to see. :0)
