    Beautiful Creatures

    by

I liked it very much. I had not read the book, nor knew the storyline beforehand. Plot was good. Editing was not good. Things seemed to be happening out of sequence. Some of the charactors story lines/personalities needed to be expanded upon, such as Amma, and the cousins (Emmy Rossom's character) and other family members. Special effects were very good.

It was actually a good movie

    by

I wanted to see this from the start. I was pleased with the script and content. I would definitely recommend this movie to any one who loves witches and wizards (or Casters :)).

    Beautiful Creatures Review

    by grejon6

This movie was actually very good. I thought that you would just get kind of lost by looking at the previews, but amazingly enough Emmie Rossum came through and blew me away again. Being a very talented actress she's played the Southern Dark Caster very well. I think people who can watch movies hard and follow them, and of course like drama's would love this movie. This movie is not really for kids, not because of violence or language but because it's hard to understand. This movie get's a 4 stars out of 5 for me.

    Not much going on...

    by

It wasn't a bad movie per se, but it wasn't great either. I was constantly waiting for something exciting to happen and then the movie was over. I guess I just expected more magic action, as it was almost nonexistent.

    Worth Seeing

    by graydd

I haven't read the books, which is unusual for me, I will be buying them next week & am anxious to read. I thought the movie was very good, I enjoyed it and will buy the dvd when it comes out. Oh and not for kids.

    The book was much better

    by

If you read the book and then went to see the movie, you will be disappointed. I went with about 50 people from my school and not one said the movie was better than the book. They took out key details that they had in the book. If there hadn't been a book, it would've been a lot better.

Disappointing, regardless if you read the book or not.

This was disappointing all the way around, I havn't read the books but the movie lacked in all areas, it was too short to cover the type of story they wanted to convey. It was a waste of money, save yourself the time.

    So-so

I have seen the movie and rate it as so-so because the acting was so horrible it could have been real life instead of just a movie. People go to the movies to lose themselves in the story behind the movie and what's going on within the movie. The actors horrible accents and lack of chemistry on set through me off. But at the same time if you like feeling as though this could have actually taken place then this is definitely the movie for you.

    Beautiful Creatures

I rather liked it. It was not at all what I was expecting. The previews made it sound like it was going to have more angsty teen drama, and family politics, but it was really just a nice, if odd story about a boy and a girl. The casting was great, and the story moved along quite nicely.

Horrible adaptation, sequel would be abomination

This movie will upset anyone who read the book series. Changing the characters, changing the story and changing key scenes?
    Ethan never forgot Lena
Lena never sat there and read the book of moons
    Amma was not the librarian
(Amma was my favorite about the book, and that she cared so deeply about Ethan and cared for him like a grandmother would, cooking meals ect)
    Blonde Ridley? Lollipop?
    Reece?
    The sisters?
    Marian?
    Basketball?
    The song?
    GREEN EYES?
Macon being an incubus? Dark caster my ass
    Boo Radley!
    Going to NYU? Wth?
NO, NO,NO! Do not see this movie, and I will not be buying it on DVD. I want my money back

    So So

Special Effects were great - the story line needs help- who came up with the name, "Casters" Some people don't speak well with a southern draw!

    Nothing like the book

This film is a mess!!!! I'm a huge fan of the series but the director of this film butchered this film. The characters back story was cut out, poor Amma's character was cut out and ya'll know she played a big part. This movie was completely different than the book. I can't believe the authors allowed there work to be destroyed like this. I hope the franchise ends here because I don't know how they'll be able to clean up the mess this first film has created.

I was an extra in this movie.

    by

So, I am in extra in this movie. After I played my part in this movie, I bought the series and read all 4 books. Last night, I saw the movie and I did like it. But... I will say that it is completely different from the book itself. I am not sure how they will have a sequel because it is impossible with the lack of characters in the movie that play a big role in the next books. The movie was very humorous.. such humorous that it reminded me of a parody. Personally, it was a little insulting the fact that the director felt he had to change so much, but the writers seemed to like the movie so I am content with the movie. Anyways, good movie.. funny. Loved the chemistry between the actors/actresses.

If you have not read this book, you will find the movie to be hilarious, cute, and touching.

If you have read the book, you will either hate it or love it.

Run away if you enjoyed the book even a little.

When reading the book, I couldn't put it down, but almost every part of the movie was awful. I have always thought of Emma Thompson as a very good actor, but with what she was given for her role, even she couldn't make it work. I actually ended up leaving during the last scene because it was that bad. Other than the actress who played Lena, the acting was TERRIBLE, the writing was terrible, the directing was terrible and I am just honestly saddened by the injustice that was done to such a good book.

The movie is NOT the book!

I read all the negative reviews on this movie and it just rehashes the age old question regarding movies based on books. How close should a movie be to its book that it's based on? We came across this question with Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and now Beautiful Creatures. Movies are the interpretation of words on pages. It seems when the movie changes the book in any way, fans of the book feel cheated somehow. I'm reading BC now and I'm telling you, if they made a movie EXACTLY like the book, it would have to be 4 hours long. I saw the movie before I started reading it and, yes, there are differences in characters and motivations of some characters. Changes are needed for a different media.
The movie keeps not only the dark mystical tone of the book, but also its humor. It's almost as if the movie KNOWS it's high camp. Unlike a certain teen/vampire romance. You'll have fun at this movie. That's what movies are all about. If you feel the book is better then go back and READ THE BOOK!
