    Don't put yourself through it....

I had high hopes based on the trailer. Really had my curiosity peaked. I was SO disappointed. It was really poor. It tried to mix a little Harry Potter knock off and a little Twilight but fell WAY short of both of those series (which I love). The story was ok but the dialogue kept slipping in to sillyness. Special effects were spotty and few and far between. Almost walked out...and I have not walked out on a movie since the 80's :) Don't go...

    More!

    by

Loved the movie, now I went out and bought the whole series in books. Leaves me wanting to read more!

I read many of the comments before I went and I was not happy that so many people said it was not as good as the book and gave it a bad review. These people dont seem to understand a) not everyone will have read the book first to compare it to and b) just because a movie is based on the book, it does not make the book the manuscript for the movie. Books will always be better than the movie, but that is no reason to give the movie a bad review. To those people - repeat after me - THAT is HOLLYWOOD!

    Great movie!

I haven't read the book, so that may be why I am not disappointed as many were. It was a great movie with a nice love story. Absolutely great actors! I doubted it a bit at first when I saw the trailers but I am sure glad I went through with seeing it. At no moment during the movie was I bored or felt disengaged. As the critic said, it was in my opinion, a bit better story between the two main cast members than Twilight. I definitely think it is worth seeing!
Other notes are it is something anybody can see and enjoy. It had some humor to it as well during several points and the graphics were really good.

It's Different Than the Books, But Just as Good

My 14 year-old daughter and I saw Beautiful Creatures yesterday and loved it. Honestly, I think they needed to "dumb it down" for a general audience but the dialogue was still fresh and fun, the characters were well-rounded, and the plot moved quickly and often unpredictably. We both cried several times and laughed a lot, as well. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

    Highly Disapointed

I read the book before the premiere and was extremyl disapointed to find that i did not recognize the story line. You would think that the movie was a pre-qual almost. i mean one of the major notions of the book was that Lena and Ethan could communicate telepathically. In the classroom, Lena was supposed to be sharpening her pencil when the windows broke and nobody but her was really hurt. not to mention there were more incidents like the Winter formal. And what happend to the Sweet Sixteen Party concert. and Ethan knew about Link and Ridley. So really what the hell did i watch yesterday cause that was not Beautiful Creatures. as for the Critic comments. I agree the accents were terrible. No cratch that they were etrocious. But for the most part i like the acting/ I just wished that the director stuck to the realy story cause the book was fantastic and i look foward to reading Chaos, Darkness, and Redemption.

    iovie of intrest

This movie was funny and witty. I love to see coming of age story and this is a great one at that. Its based off an awesome book series and I love how the actors really played each role well. I was an awesome movie.

    -_-

I remember watching The Hunger Games and thinking, wow, they did not stick with the source material and missing all the important stuff. Compared to Beautiful Creatures, that movie was a masterpiece. As a fan of the Castor Chronicles, I have to say DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. If you loved the books, you will HATE this movie. I know no book to movie adaption will ever be like the book. But this movie didn't even have the essence that made Beautiful Creatures such a good book. The direction is awful. The script is HORRIBLE. Just. don't see this movie. These people don't deserve your money.

Read the book, it's MUCH Better

I was beyond excited when I saw the preview for this movie. I decided I'd read the book since I love to read. After reading the book, my excitement levels sky-rocketed. Unfortunately, the movie did not live up to the book. The movie left out a lot of the little details that were in the book, important details. I did not like the movie!!!

    if you read the book...

    by

dont go! first of all, ethan looks way older than 16 ,there was no aunts ,macon had no dog and ethan's dad was left out and marian aswell which changes the story in the movie a lot than the book.there was no" mind talkin" between lena and ethan and the visions they had together had no point in the movie since they changed one important part!it was terrible.if u didnt read the book, i woul say it was okay but still not good.poor acting of the main characters.

    A Beautiful Film

I'll admit, I was expecting Twilight-lite when I bought tickets for my girlfriend and I. What we got was an imminently more believable and better crafted romance (and movie!). The two lead characters have incredible screen chemistry and the sleepy town in which the film is set comes across as some place you'd want to live. The music is absolutely phenomenal and the cinematography is top notch. A total pleasant surprise from front to back, including a twist ending that actually made sense and that I didn't see coming. I'm sure it won't reach Hunger Games or Twilight status, but not for lack of film here - this is easily the best of the "young adult" movies that has come out so far. Definitely see it in theaters.

    Beautiful Creatures

    by

I enjoyed this movie but was a little dissapointed. I had just finished the book so that colored my experience. There was so much less character development in the film that I really felt it was missing some of the most interesing parts. The bood had a recurring musical theme that was left out of the movie entirely. I really thing it would have enhanced the movie. I know that ti could have been much better.

    VERY DIFFERENT from the book!

I didn't like the choices of actors for the characters of the book. I really didn't like that they "merged" characters - the housekeeper and the librarian! Ethan's elderly aunts, the dog Bo Radley, and Ethan's father were never seen. That doesn't even cover so many changes that the screenplay made in the story. I'd really like my money back on this one.

What you would expect of a tween fantasy drama.

I took my younger sisters to see it. They of course loved every minute of it. I was a bit more skeptical going in after having taken them to all the Twilights. I think the acting in this was better than the Twilights. The story being told was also not as dry. There were definitely moments of teenage angst but they were not as over the top as in Twilight. It did have some timing/pacing issues but overall that didn't take away from the experience. I say if you're interested in this genre then go for it.

    Beautiful Creatures

I thought the movie was good. It was a bit long, but the storyline was good and I really liked the writers ideas for the story. I would say it is worth seeing!

    So disappointed

I have read the Caster Chronicles and was excited when they were making it into a movie. Only this wasn't a movie, it was a caricature. Fake, contrived Southern accents? Check. Over the top stereotypical witches? Check. I don't think Emma Thompson had even read the book because she ruined the character. Ruined. And I like Emma Thompson. She seemed to be playing Professor Trelawney without the gypsy clothes and with a bad accent. Sarafine is not manic.... she's evil. And Thompson gave us manic instead. Jeremy Irons did a great job as Macon, but I don't understand why they needed to make him a Dark Caster instead of the Incubus he is/was. Anyone who had read the books would also know that if you were hoping for a sequel/franchise you absolutely cannot combine Marian and Amma into one character. I just don't understand why they changed so much just for the sake of change. The movie turned the story into a bad combination of Gone with the Wind and The Craft.
