    Not funny

Melissa McCarthy was great in Bridesmaids and she brings the same character to this movie. Unfortunately the gags that worked in a brief scene don't make for an hour and a half film. She's simply vulgar, un attractive in personality, and its hard to find the pushed upon sympathy the film tried for at the end. Supporting cast is great and Jason Bateman makes any film worth seeing. I tried to like this movie but it simply wasn't funny: it was vulgar. A decent Redbox rent but I'm disappointed we spent money to see this at the theater.

    Identity Thief

If you're looking for a romp with multiple "laugh out loud" scenes, good coherence
of plot and a bit of appropriately placed sentimentality, this is your film!
Melissa McCarthy is brilliantly funny using both her physical comedy and her well-honed
stand-up ad lib skills to supply the films biggest laughs; this only works playing off Jason Bateman's straight man act, whcih is the best in the business after Ben Stiller.
T.I,, Robert Patrick and Eric Stonetreet all deliver good performances in supporting roles
with some character depth, while John Cho and Amanda Peet, good actors in thier own right, cannot overcome the shallowness of their scripted roles.
All in all this is a fun movie I would highly reccomend.

Very Funny ... Melissa makes the movie!

Not every movie is an Oscar contender... This movie delivered plenty of laughs and some heartfelt / tender moments. We are already big fans of the cast, most especially Melissa .... She is a great physical and visually expressive comic. Yes, these movies are a bit predictable, but there is enough fun here to make this a very enjoyable movie.

I would rather have my identity stolen than watch this movie

I am joking of course, but I just can't believe how people on this site review and rate movies. How can people rate this movie as a Go or Must Go? There is nothing good to report here. The majority of the funny scenes were already spoiled by the trailer, and I can count them on one hand. Other random things - all negative: Jon Favreau is noted as one of the lead actors but his appearance is mostly cameo for all of about 30 seconds; follows the same theme as Due Date but nowhere as good or funny (this movie has a been there-done that feel); I noticed very few people laughing - the almost full theater was eerily quiet throughout the movie. Frankly, this movie is just not very funny, and it was 2 hours of my life wasted. .

    Save your money

Bateman plays a moron who gives his SS # to a thief ignorant enough to broadcast her location. I found this movie boring, with only a few chuckles; hardly worth the ticket cost.

This movie is not suitable for children. For that matter, it's not fit for adults.

    Was not disappointed

Love Melissa and Jason! The whole audience was laughing along with this movie. I do admit that it dragged just a bit in a couple of places but, all in all, well worth the trip and money. Be advised that there are a couple of areas unsuitable for the very staunch or young persons, also.

    Identity Thief

I laughed till I cried, Very good chemistry between Bateman and McCarthy and the rest of the cast. SOOOOOO funny would recommend this movie to all my friends and family. Wish Amanda Peet was in the action she is really funny as well. Didn't even recognize that was Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family that was funny and Melissa McCarthy's husband as the hotel clerk their timing was awesome

    Identity Thief

Just a good escapist movie with humor and sweetness. Of course the excellent perfomances carry the ok script. The bonus for me was that a lot of real issues are dealt with, i.e. predudice against large, women, foreigners and African Americans.

    Hmmmmm...

    by

It was funny, I will give it that.
What I like to do when rating movies is to use a scale like "Must see" and "Wait for Video" and "No Way In Hell". This movie is a solid "Wait for Video". Although I enjoyed the film, laughed quit a bit, it was kinda predictable. Melissa McCarthy stole the main role from Jason Bateman in this film by just plain being funnier. Jason had his moments and you do feel for the guy but Melissa was a riot.
I think I will create a new category just because of this film - "Definitely Rent It When It Comes Out For Video".

    Identity Thief

It was funny and cetainly gave me some laughs but I would not recomment bringing children as some of the scenes are very graphic and not for youngsters. I saw people there with kids and thought to myself that was not a very good idea. I have a friend that went to see it with her 12 year old daughter and she said she never should have taken her.

On the end family visting while in prison. Told the girls not to go in the wood or forest because of a bear with cornrows. This is a radical slur. Bad

    Identity Thief

I loved the movie. At first I didn't know what to think but the minute the movie starting I couldn't stop laughing for an hour and a half. It was the best movie I have seen in theaters and the best comedy I have ever seen. I recommend to anyone who wants to see a good comedy or just a great movie.

    Identity Thief

This is a comedy/road trip movie . It's also Melissa's first big role since she was in 'Bridesmaids' [she was in 'This is 40' but she was not the main star] . Jason plays a regular working guy ; trying to better his life , both at home and work . He gets his identity stolen by Melissa and things get worse [he could loose his job and go to jail] . Jason lives in Denver , Colorado and Melissa is living it up [on Jason's credit cards] in Miami , Florida , so the police are no help [something about jurisdictions] . Jason decides to go and bring Melissa back on his own ["How hard could it be ?" he says] . That is where the road trip comes into play . Eric plays a man Melissa meets along the way and Patrick is a bounty hunter that is looking for Melissa [she is a popular girl] . I enjoyed it .
