How Can So Much Talent Make A Viewer Squirm?

Messy, messy, messy! Despite Melissa McCarthy's hilarious physical gags and Justin Bateman's honestly innocent charm, this film was disappointing on so many levels. The story line was so flawed...it was impossible to develop any empathy for such a despicable and callous "thief" when her softer side didn't shine through until the last few frames of the film! It was like watching a live-action cartoon for potty-brained adults with over-worked, cliched slices from older movies and genre patched together in an almost disturbing way. It was fun, however, checking off how many character stereotypes could be forced into one movie. Only worth watching on Netflix.

    Identity Thief

Really enjoyed the movie, well written, kept the funny stuff going throughout and
had a good ending, great actors and funny lines. Lots of cursing so not for younger kids.

    Worth a rental

    by

My wife and I both are big fans of Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy but the movie was just OK - definitely amusing at times but not very often laugh-out-loud funny. If we had to do it again we would wait for it to be on Netflix and see something else more worthy of the movie cinema.

    Guilt free fun!

I love Melissa McCarthy, but I feel that most times she just plays the same one dimensional slap stick role. This was different. While there was plenty of slapstick and truly funny moments, the role actually had some heart to it. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Bateman also frequently plays the same role, and I thought this one was pretty much on par with the rest of his work: Solid, but nothing exceptional. I give it a must go, simply because i was just a good time, not necessarily because it was an exceptional addition to Hollywood Cinema.

All the funny parts are in the previews

    by

As is always a big fear with going to see a comedy, all the funny parts are in the previews. While there are a few hysterical one liners, I was disappointed that there weren't any ridiculous scenes like Melissa McCarthy's scene with the principal in This is 40. I would pass on seeing this in the theater. It is maybe a rental, which is disappointing to me because I absolutely LOVE both actors.

If you want a lot of good belly laugh's and ;I can't beleave she said that.
This is a great comedy that delivers Laugh's from start to finish. You'l talk about it on the way home and you may talk about it again before you go to bead. It's just about the funnest movie we've seen in a very long time.

    Identity Thief

The film tries to mix comedy with crime and deviant sex and that, a good combination does not make... Hollywood tries too hard to appeal to too many audiences with this film. Either make a good comedy or a good hard core, gritty film. This movie just doesn't do either well.

    Hilarious

Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Love Jason Bateman and love Melissa McCarthy. They are a great combo and deliver plenty of comedic relief as well as some serious moments. I laughed out loud many times during this movie and will probably see it again.

Good - Glad to see such a 'funny' movie

    by Lsavan

What is there not to like? Melissa McCarthy as Diane/Sandy), Jason Bateman (Sandy) and Amanda Peet (the good wife) all did a great job in their roles! McCarthy truly pulls it out of first gear and becomes the 'funny-girl' in this role and Bateman - just the perfect gentleman. The outlandish scenes at the bar, motels and the car chases were great. The snake scene a bit over top and yes scary....ugh!
Good fun, good laughs - truly a fun movie. Too bad this stuff about stolen identities is true.

    Funny. Ending Predictable

    by

Cute movie, some funny parts. But the end seems to come to a screeching halt and then predictable. But I like both actors and there are some really funny parts. Justin Bateman steals the funny lines in the hotel scene.

    SO Good!

This actually was a pretty awesome movie. Yeah the premis isn't anything any of us would wan to face, but it throughout Jason and Melissa play off of each other fantastically. Expect some crude humor, and to be laughing throughout,I know I did...A MUST see if you love these type of comedies!

    Predictable, but worth the laugh

    by

Identity thief was a good movie. It's a predictable movie, but it's certainly worth seeing for the jokes. I love Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy. They are both hilarious actors and I like watching any movie they are in. It's certainly not a movie for kids, but that's self-explanatory in the rating.

    by LeeFeed

This movie was very funny and actually informative about the ramifications might be if a person had their identity stolen.
Melissa is hilarious in the movie.
