    Broken City - not bad.

This film included some of my fave actors/actresses, so I had high hopes. The movie was entertaining and had some intriguing twists along the way. I felt like some of the twists didn't add enough value to the film to have been included; however, they didn't take away from the picture, either. Great performances from Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe and supporting cast.
    Overall, an entertaining movie.

    Broken City

Very disappointed, boring and all over the place. With so many good actors you would think somebody would have said, "No, this sucks!" Just too much wasted time that lead to weak plots and predictable thrills. When the so call thrill builds up (lame), it leaves you wamdering now the real action is going to take place. Not! A couple of times when I looked around it seemed 40% of the movie goers were asleep. I feel cheated. All the hype for what? This so called movie should have never made it to the big screen. FLOP!

    Broken City, Broken Script

It was very predicatble and seemed to feed off of classic Walberg movies with a lot less action and not enough intrique to make up for it. Actors were great but the script was weak.. Directing was just above adequate.

Great acting by everyone, very worthwhile movie

Russell Crowe must have had coaching by ex Chicago Mayor Rich M Daley to be so versed in real estate deals. He was very convincing that he is actually the mayor. Might be his best speaking role. Mark Walberg is 2nd rate, one point he is very drunk then same night he is fully aware and handles someones head in the bathtub. Drama is continous, no boredom. Good ending. Waste of talent for Catherine Zeta-Jones, she should be playing lead roles. Overall very worthwhile.

    Tremendious

Very good movie, in Mark Walberg and Russell Crow + cast, perform to an excellence that truly carried beyond expectancy. It really held your attention from start to finish; because the characters all contribute to important roles that reflected where the movie want you (audience) to go. Great!!!!!!

    Broken City

Good Movie. Love the characters. Makes you wonder how many governmental officials are this corrupt. I would not take young children to see this movie. Fowl language. Don't think they would be able to follow the plot of the story. I would recommend this to anyone who likes suspense or thriller.

    Something's Missing

    by COVER4

Overall, it was ok. I went away with thinking that something was missing - either there were problems with the script or with the editing. The movie could have been great with better editing. In terms of the acting, Mark Wahlberg was good, Catherine Zeta-Jones was great although I would have liked her have a larger role - because she's so good. Russell Crowe's performance was lacking and the tan was both inexplicable and distracting. Alona Tal deserves recognition for a great performance as Katy Bradshaw opposite Mark Wahlberg's Billy Taggart. Jeffrey Wright, Kyle Chandler and Barry Pepper all seemed to be miscast in their roles. The ending did seem to set things up for a sequel of some sort. Maybe they can explain all of the missing details in the sequel - where I'd like to see the chemistry between Billy Taggart and Katy Bradshaw play out.

Could have been so much better

    by Kilgi

A great cast with a so so story. Crowe is underused and zeta Jones is there for window dressing. Its ok but I would wait for video.

    i liked it

    by mahdi

It was a god drama, kinda like a really long episode of CSI. It could've had a better plot on Russell Crowes crime, but it was good enough, not perfect

I think I saw Rob Reiner in a fight scene

I pretty sure Rob Reiner was in a fight scene in Broken city. He was the one in between a father and son fight in an office space. And the rest of the movie was really good too.

Not hard to sit thru, but nothing great

    by Gem1836

Standard TV style yarn with good acting, fair writing. Nothing bad will happen if you go. Nothing bad will happen if you miss it.

Nothing special about this movie... good if you have some time to kill

Nothing in this movie was surprising. You knew how it would end and took a twist or two to get there, but other than that it was kind of bla. Probably worth a Redbox rental if there is nothing else on your DVR

    Broken Movie

This movie had a lot of potential, with good acting and story line, but was limited by poor writing and by one thing that can make a good movie great - the music. There were also a lot of distracting technical errors and dialogs that weren't believable. 'Broken City' had the appearance of a movie made by someone who was either a novice, or someone who just didn't care very much about the final product. It's not a bad movie. Just not as good as it could have been.
