    Another New Yorker

This movie was really slow and boring, its the same ol same ol, beating up people, etc. It seems like all films about New York City now are just out of line and have gone astray from making the film interesting and fun to watch. Although it shows how powerful ignorant, arrogant, and hypocritical people in power eventually fall into ruins with great humiliation, embarrassment, and distress. Fiction in movies like this are a reality in the real world now a days. Theres no escape for justice, eventually the criminal will get caught. The saying goes "you can run, but you cant hide." Two great actors (Mike Whalberg, and Russell Crowe), however this movie was pointless to watch, I was having doubts about this one before watching it. Its hardly even worth watching it just once if anything at all. The best film that I know of filmed in New York, was "The Interpreter," with Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn.

    by i_marty

THE CAST WERE GREAT, BUT IT WAS SOO LONG AND I WAS LEFT WITH WANTING MORE. NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. MARK, RUSSELL AND KATHERINE WERE GREAT, THOUGH.

    Great cast, but so-so movie

    by JAL46

I went to see Broken City based on the outstanding cast, especially Mark Wohlberg, Russell Crowe, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. They were wonderful. However, the picture itself was not as good as I expected. I had difficulty following parts of the story, and it did not hold together at times. However, overall it was a worthwhile experience. Not for kids - too violent.

Russell Crowe from Brooklyn I think not!

So the story was very thin. It did not keep you guessing, it barely kept you interested. There just isn't enough movie here. And I just couldn't get over Russell Crowe's horrible Brooklyn accent. Skip the box office and wait for redbox on this one.

    boring

    by belkis8

I was so excited to see this movie due to some of the actors.. However, the whole movie seemed to drag. It was a good plot, but I wish I hadn't wasted my money.
    YOU be the judge!.

    Broken City

I liked it. The acting was great. The movie had a few twists that I didn't expect. Didn't have the usual expected ending so it made the movie seem like it was based on a true story. Which It wasn't, All said and done it held my attention the whole time, I'd see it again.

Could have been so much better

    by Kilgi

A great cast with a so so story. Crowe is underused and zeta Jones is there for window dressing. Its ok but I would wait for video.

    Broken Dreams

Actaully did enjoy this film, but for some reason I could not get past Russell Crowes doo????
Although I love Catherine Zeta-Jones, I think she should have had more presence on screen.
One scene that I found to be somewhat far fetched, was on the train to Montauk when Mark Walbergh and the campaign manager have their banter back and forth, I found it unbelievable since it was supposedly such a big deal when Walbergh had his high profile trial, that this guy would not have recognized him?
Quite the cast of Great Actors, just seemed like movie was produced quickly to make a quick buck.

    AWESOME MOVIE!

I consider myself a movieaholic and can be quite critical. I went into this movie having no idea what it was about or who was really in it, never saw a trailer. Man oh man, what an AWESOME flick! A nice political/murder thriller with lots of twists and turns. Love that kind of genre, gotta use your brain. Well scripted and acted, very entertaining. Totally blown away by this surprise gem!

    Something's Missing

    by COVER4

Overall, it was ok. I went away with thinking that something was missing - either there were problems with the script or with the editing. The movie could have been great with better editing. In terms of the acting, Mark Wahlberg was good, Catherine Zeta-Jones was great although I would have liked her have a larger role - because she's so good. Russell Crowe's performance was lacking and the tan was both inexplicable and distracting. Alona Tal deserves recognition for a great performance as Katy Bradshaw opposite Mark Wahlberg's Billy Taggart. Jeffrey Wright, Kyle Chandler and Barry Pepper all seemed to be miscast in their roles. The ending did seem to set things up for a sequel of some sort. Maybe they can explain all of the missing details in the sequel - where I'd like to see the chemistry between Billy Taggart and Katy Bradshaw play out.

    Ehh...

Broken City was very slow in parts, especially making it to the climax. It was hard to keep up with all of the characters by name because they weren't explained enough or their parts were too insignificant to pay attention to. I was particularly disappointed with the ending - it definitely could've been better. The actors were played pretty well. All in all, I would recommend waiting until it comes to Redbox.

    i liked it

    by mahdi

It was a god drama, kinda like a really long episode of CSI. It could've had a better plot on Russell Crowes crime, but it was good enough, not perfect

    BROKER CITY

I liked this film a lot. Wahlberg gives an excellent performance. This movie has a good Perry Mason type plot that keeps you guessing who is the real bad guy. I thought the director did a fine job of keeping the story moving along at a good pace. I never lost interest throughout the film; which is a major plus for me during any movie that I see. This one is well worth your time and money.
