    Amazing!

    by kahanu

The story is amazing, that this family could have been torn apart like this and still survived. It's really amazing anyone survived.

The crew did a great job of recreating the events and atmosphere of the aftermath. I used to be in the film business and know all about special effects and it's mind-boggling what they did here.

    You should definitely see it.

    Super Intensity

Since this was a true story and you know what's going to happen, you brace yourself from the start..just waiting. Once the waves roll in and the family drama begins you are breathless. Incredible acting from the entire cast. The kids are so moving. You feel everyone's pain. You really need a big cocktail after just to calm your nerves...a must to see!

Impossible to watch and have dry eyes!

    by

This movie was a heavy one. You really got a sense of what it would have been like to experience a tsunami. The acting was superb. The boy who played Lucas should get an academy award. He stole the movie. Don't see this if you want a fun movie, but don't miss it either.

    real deal

The ultimate survival. A truly miraculous recovery from the depths of oblivion. The most inspiring true life story to the silver screen that could possibly be.

    great and amazing

This movie was everything I hoped it would be. Amazing footage of getting caught in tsunami. I really could almost feel being tossed by the waves. Great personal story that we all can identify with. Hard to find words.

    Movies are for entertainment

I love movies that you can really sink your teeth in. This is not one of those. Very good effects, acting, editing, cinematography.......but it is a movie of survival, and it gets to be pretty disturbing.....I didn't see much entertainment element to it, but many disturbing images.

    the impossible

Should be the number one movie of the year from the story line(true) to the acting ,photography, special effects . The older brother and family savior is incredable. Despite all of the great nominees for the Academy award, this young man(I do not know his name) age about 12 or so, deserves the Oscar. Get out the hankies you fathers and mothers...Tom Holland is the young actor.

    Sad but Uplifting

I wish I could give this a "must go", but I can't. There were some aspects of this movie that could have been done much better. I hate to sound like the PC police, but I did find it odd that so many of the faces in the movie were white. I've never been to Thailand, but at times, it looked more like New Jersey based on the background faces. I couldn't help but let that throw me off just a little.
Naomi Watts was great, but I saw one other performance last year that I thought was more Oscar worthy (SLP). The little boys in the movie are outstanding.
Overall, this is a sad movie. The sniffles all around the theater were very audible. However, the uplifting parts are what I took out of the movie with me. These kind of movies make a person realize just how fleeting life is for EVERYBODY.
Good movie. See it, but be prepared if you, or anyone you go along with, are already overly emotional.

    Great story

You really get a sense of how awful the devastation was after the tsunami. Very moving story with excellent acting, especially Naomi Watts and the boy who played her oldest son. I cried a lot - it was a very moving story and well worth seeing.

    The Impossible

After reading all of the reviews I decided to take my teens to see this movie. I was hoping for a true inspiring movie. My teens and I were sickened by all of the blood and gore constantly displayed on the screen. This movie should have been rated R for Blood and gore. Hard to follow the story line when your sickened by watching people vomitting blood clots and looking at people with bloodly flesh hanging from thier bodies.

    An Awe Inspiring Story

    by

Only God could have made this happen and apparently HE did...It's a TRUE story. It makes me want to thank and praise God all the more. Great acting and the re-enactment was too true to life. I cried and my husband...O well, he's a man.

    intense! you'll need kleenex

knew it would be intense but wow! it's just emotional...especially the kids who were great. you know 'the story'. tsunami comes and leaves destruction in it's wake. reminds you how small we are in relation to the earthly forces. special effects/set were amazing. cant figure out how they did all that water creation. you feel like you're on the journey with them. defintiely go see it

    True Family Devotion

Excellent story of people and family coming together. What an amazing story. How they survive is nothing short of "impossible". I love how the family was connected with their devotion to one another. Very well done.
