    An Awe Inspiring Story

    by

Only God could have made this happen and apparently HE did...It's a TRUE story. It makes me want to thank and praise God all the more. Great acting and the re-enactment was too true to life. I cried and my husband...O well, he's a man.

    Absolutely fantastic!

This was an amazing movie! It grabbed you from the minute the wave hit the resort. Extremely emotional and powerful. If you don't leave that movie with a new appreciation for your wife and children, then you don't have a heart!

    The Impossible

This was a great movie. My husband and I both enjoyed it and would see it again. The action was so real and the actors did a wonderful job. This was a true story and it seemed as if it was just happening as everything was so real.

    As real as it gets...

    by mavram

This movie is extremely well made. You actually feel/believe that you are there with this family and go through all the horrifying experiences they went through. You can feel yourself experiencing the terror of that Tsunami. It is gut retching at times.
The cast is superb and do the experience justice. This is a must see... you will plead with a higher power to never ever be near anything like this when you are done watching this movie. Very much Oscar worthy.

    intense! you'll need kleenex

knew it would be intense but wow! it's just emotional...especially the kids who were great. you know 'the story'. tsunami comes and leaves destruction in it's wake. reminds you how small we are in relation to the earthly forces. special effects/set were amazing. cant figure out how they did all that water creation. you feel like you're on the journey with them. defintiely go see it

    The Impossible

    by

Tragic story- but important depiction of what a family experienced. Naomi's performance is amazing. Direction/screenplay & the reenactment of the tsunami is terrifying to watch, but the best of all that has been produced.

Ewan McGregor never fails to bring his best and the kids in this movie are completely amazing little actors. This movie is exhausting to watch, but should not be missed. This is one film that you should see in the theatre! Don't wait for it to be release to DVD/Cable.

The special effects are amazing. I can't imagine how difficult it was to film.
I hope that Naomi and the young cast receive special recognition for their hard work to shoot this film.

    B-

The first 30 minutes were mind-blowing as the Tsunami, and the ensuing events, were shot impeccably. Unfortunately, I found the rest of the movie ho-hum. Ok acting all around and some harrowing moments throughout, but couldn't match the first act. Worth seeing for the cinematography.

    iMPOSSIBLE

iT WAS OK. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE MORE OF THE SCENERY OF WHAT THE ACTUAL AREA LOOKED LIKE WHEN THE DISASTER OCCURED. I ALSO WISH THERE WAS A FOLLOW UP STORY AT THE END TO TELL US WHAT THE FAMILY HAS DONE IN THE EIGHT YEARS THAT FOLLOWED, ESPECIALLY THE BOY LUCAS

    The Impossible

    by RNfan

It is amazing how the actors were able to convey so much emotion and "fill the screen" with very little dialogue....the director was able to move from TV coverage to filming almost seamlessly...it was a miracle of a movie about a real-life miracle of one family surviving such complete devastation.... agreat film, but not for young children who would react to the obvious scenes of death and mangled, bleeding people...

    real deal

The ultimate survival. A truly miraculous recovery from the depths of oblivion. The most inspiring true life story to the silver screen that could possibly be.

Naomi Watts may have the nomination, but this is Tom Holland's movie

The Impossible is about the 2004 tsunami and one family's struggle to survive and reunite. Naomi Watts has a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her portrayal of the mother, but it is16-year-old Tom Holland who matches her in every scene they share. He should have a Best Supporting Actor nod. The first half of the film revolves around these two, while Ewan McGregor's father and his two younger sons take up most of the second half. It's in this second half that the film seems to lose focus, and this second half is a bit weaker than the first.

Still, it's a film worth seeing. Keep in mind, this is about the greatest natural disaster in modern times, so it's no date-night movie. Oh, and bring plenty of hankies. I give it ****.

Great film of survival midst such devestation

This is a heart-wrenching movie. Not one to see if you have recently lost a loved one. The trauma and stress that this family endures is remarkable. Such strong characters. You will want to hug your spouse and kids after this one.

Impossible to watch and have dry eyes!

    by

This movie was a heavy one. You really got a sense of what it would have been like to experience a tsunami. The acting was superb. The boy who played Lucas should get an academy award. He stole the movie. Don't see this if you want a fun movie, but don't miss it either.

    The Impossible

One of the best pictures I've seen in a long time. You really feel that you are a part of this movie. You will talk about it for a long time. Perfectly scripted, acted, and casted. Kudos to everyone who had a speaking part in that movie.

the best movie I've seen recently

    by bgalaev

Really good movie, from technical point of view and from emotional, family relationship point of view also. The main idea is that whatever disaster you can meet, you should not forget to think about your family, other people. I think it is especially helpful for new jerseyans who recently survived Sandy disaster, but were not very helpful to each other, especially in gas lines. Waiting for help from government is sometimes Ok, but to be more tolerant and helpful to your neighbors is more valuable behavior.
