    intense! you'll need kleenex

knew it would be intense but wow! it's just emotional...especially the kids who were great. you know 'the story'. tsunami comes and leaves destruction in it's wake. reminds you how small we are in relation to the earthly forces. special effects/set were amazing. cant figure out how they did all that water creation. you feel like you're on the journey with them. defintiely go see it

    the impossible

Should be the number one movie of the year from the story line(true) to the acting ,photography, special effects . The older brother and family savior is incredable. Despite all of the great nominees for the Academy award, this young man(I do not know his name) age about 12 or so, deserves the Oscar. Get out the hankies you fathers and mothers...Tom Holland is the young actor.

'The Titanic of the 21st Century'

    by

So, I watched Juan Antonio Bayona's (The Orphanage) 'The Impossible' in English (not that it made a big difference after watching it in Spanish), and once again, never has a drama movie moved me like this one. What James Cameron did with 'Titanic' (1997), Juan did with this film. In both cases, the films are based on real events. The film centers around one family, who miraculously survived the ordeal in real life, and how they fought to survive the tsunami. The whole cast who portrayed the family members were incredible with their respective roles. It's a must see. How far would you go, if you were in their situation? I can easily call this film 'The Titanic of the 21st century', one of the most powerful films I have ever seen. An emotional roller coaster.

    Emotionally Gripping!

    by

From one of the earliest scenes, you are thrown directly into the tragedy that starts the emotional roller coaster you will endure throughout the film. The sadness and fear that I felt were overwhelming in the beginning!! From devastated, to hopeful, to elated, you are forced to FEEL SOMETHING from beginning to end with this movie, and that is what makes a film great in my opinion! A must see, highly recommended, but don't be surprised if you shed some tears. Also, I can't forget to mention the INCREDIBLE acting done, particularly by Naomi, as well as the young boy who played the oldest son Lucas. Loved it.

    Amazing!

    by kahanu

The story is amazing, that this family could have been torn apart like this and still survived. It's really amazing anyone survived.

The crew did a great job of recreating the events and atmosphere of the aftermath. I used to be in the film business and know all about special effects and it's mind-boggling what they did here.

    You should definitely see it.

    Incredible

Overall, I thought it was a great movie. My sister and I both enjoyed it and went through a gamete of emotions. However, there were a couple of things missing.- first, no mention is ever made of how the father and the two younger boys survived - second - what was the outcome of some of the other people shown in the movie? In particular, the guy in the truck with the father - what happened to his family? Also, instead of the credits at the end, I would have preferred to see a memorial to the 230,000 that didn't make it.

A Testament to the Human Spirit

    by KEAL04

Just got back from seeing The Impossible - an excellent movie. The acting in it is fantastic especially the boy who plays Lucas. I could have used an entire box of Kleenex; the emotional tribute to the human spirit is deeply moving. The musical score definitely enhances this. Several people who attended the same showing were as blown away as I was. All we could do was sit there watching the credits roll as we tried to return to everyday life. Three thumbs up!

    What incredible story

I just saw The Impossible. What an incredible true story. Can't imagine experiencing anything like this. The acting is superb. I was really impressed with the young actor who plays the oldest son. Take your hankie with you, it's worth it.

    THE IMPOSSIBLE

Outstanding movie in every way. Naomi Watts gives a spectacular and stunning Oscar style performance. The cast is perfect right down to the littlest child. The special effects are wonderfully done in a way that you feel you're right there yourself. It is a moving and emotional film that will bring a tear to your eyes in parts. I can't say enough good things to you that would convince you to go. This is a true story about a real family and how blessed they were to survive the hell of that day. The makeup is so realistic you believe their injuries are real. Wonderful story line and every actor gave a superb performance. Other than one other movie this year, the best assembled cast in a movie. I can't see how the director or the screenwriter could have made this film any better. It is as close to perfection as any movie could be. PLEASE go and see this film. You will be moved and see what true dedication and love is between a mother, father and their children. Again, a spectacular movie

    A Gripping Tale of Survival

The impossible is a true survival story revolving around a family of six who become the untimely victims of one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history, the 2004 Tsunami of Thailand. The film opens with a local family lounging on an island beach resor when the impossible occurs, a freak tsunami wreaking havoc and destruction. In the wake of the aftermath, the family finds themselves on a perilous journey to reclaim what is lost. It's a hearbreaking tale of lost, tragedy, and triumph against the odds. For those seeking a tearjerker genre, this film is the place to be.

    Moving and realistic

Loved the movie. Seemed very realistic, had to fight back tears. Extraordinary famly love depicted convincingly. Was suprised to see family looked a bit different than the family in the movie.

    An Awe Inspiring Story

    by

Only God could have made this happen and apparently HE did...It's a TRUE story. It makes me want to thank and praise God all the more. Great acting and the re-enactment was too true to life. I cried and my husband...O well, he's a man.

    Powerful gut wrenching film

    by

Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts delivered superb performances supported by a great cast. The special effects are very dramatic, causing many in the theater to jump or spill drinks on others. Once again, my apologies to the crusty curmudgeon next to me who apparently did not like Powerade on his trousers. But, perhaps you should not have spilled your nacho cheese onto my jeans. Special note- Tom Holland stole the show as Lucas, their rebellious teenager who came of age during the tsunami, thinking more of others than of himself. A must see film!
