    The Impossible

    by 1stock1

Excellent movie.I would give it 3 stars for adults. Some of the scenes were very realistic and somewhat gruesome. For those of you who have a tough time seeing people suffering and dying on screen, this is a film you may want to take a pass on.Therefore, I would not recommend this film for anyone under 13 without parental permission and/or supervision. The cimematography and special effects are seamless and the film puts you right in the POV of those trying to survive a tsunami near a coastal shore in Thailand.Casting was excellent and even the children's performances were top notch.

    Oscar Worthy

Originally, I had decided not to see this movie. After hearing what great performances were delivered I changed my mind. It is a "sit on the edge of your seat" movie. Tears, yes. Tears of pain, sadness, and great joy. There are many stories that came out of this great tragedy, this is one that tells the tale of the worst of the worst and best of the best. A story that deserves telling, one certainly worth seeing. Your only disappointment will be if you don't see it.

Wait for it to come to cable

Was just a so-so movie. The story line is interesting. Parential choices made by "true story" actors "impossible" to believe. Ms. Watts gives a good performance. Not a bad movie, just so-so.

    Super Intensity

Since this was a true story and you know what's going to happen, you brace yourself from the start..just waiting. Once the waves roll in and the family drama begins you are breathless. Incredible acting from the entire cast. The kids are so moving. You feel everyone's pain. You really need a big cocktail after just to calm your nerves...a must to see!

    B-

The first 30 minutes were mind-blowing as the Tsunami, and the ensuing events, were shot impeccably. Unfortunately, I found the rest of the movie ho-hum. Ok acting all around and some harrowing moments throughout, but couldn't match the first act. Worth seeing for the cinematography.

A Testament to the Human Spirit

    by KEAL04

Just got back from seeing The Impossible - an excellent movie. The acting in it is fantastic especially the boy who plays Lucas. I could have used an entire box of Kleenex; the emotional tribute to the human spirit is deeply moving. The musical score definitely enhances this. Several people who attended the same showing were as blown away as I was. All we could do was sit there watching the credits roll as we tried to return to everyday life. Three thumbs up!

    Amazing!

    by MissB08

This is one of, if not the, best movie I've seen this year. That's really saying something, because I go to a lot of movies. Do yourself a favor and go!

    Incredible

Overall, I thought it was a great movie. My sister and I both enjoyed it and went through a gamete of emotions. However, there were a couple of things missing.- first, no mention is ever made of how the father and the two younger boys survived - second - what was the outcome of some of the other people shown in the movie? In particular, the guy in the truck with the father - what happened to his family? Also, instead of the credits at the end, I would have preferred to see a memorial to the 230,000 that didn't make it.

the best movie I've seen recently

    by bgalaev

Really good movie, from technical point of view and from emotional, family relationship point of view also. The main idea is that whatever disaster you can meet, you should not forget to think about your family, other people. I think it is especially helpful for new jerseyans who recently survived Sandy disaster, but were not very helpful to each other, especially in gas lines. Waiting for help from government is sometimes Ok, but to be more tolerant and helpful to your neighbors is more valuable behavior.

    The Impossible

Very good movie, makes you appreciate the simple things. Acting was very good, made you feel that it was truly happening to them. "Lucas" was fantastic young actor.

    Movies are for entertainment

I love movies that you can really sink your teeth in. This is not one of those. Very good effects, acting, editing, cinematography.......but it is a movie of survival, and it gets to be pretty disturbing.....I didn't see much entertainment element to it, but many disturbing images.

    Great story

You really get a sense of how awful the devastation was after the tsunami. Very moving story with excellent acting, especially Naomi Watts and the boy who played her oldest son. I cried a lot - it was a very moving story and well worth seeing.

    The Impossible

    by wohl62

Despite knowing the story line, it seemed realistic enough. However, the screams and howls and the loud yelling for the "missing people" were a little too much for an older person's ears. The acting was fairly good but, frankly, I thought the oldest boy should have been nominated for an Oscar and not the female lead. It's something to be seen but, if you miss it and pick it up on Netflix, you wouldn't lose too much except, possibly, the expansive scenery.

    It was breath taking

Any time you see something like this it takes your breath away. What a strong young man who played the oldest son. And the one who lived through this, I know from things in the past that you are never the same.

    Stunning

We saw this film mostly because it was something to do, not expecting too much. We were so wrong. It was filmed beautifully with horribly realistic effects and wonderfully portrayed characters. You really feel them rise to their highest level as they struggle through truly Impossible challenges. It was such a surprise and just stunning. All I could say when it was over was "wow". Of course, highly recommended.
