    The Impossible

ive never posted prior, but felt compelled to join just to try and warn others.

it was horrible. it was the most long dragged out borefest that i have ever seen. it was a challenge sitting through the whole movie waiting for it to get interesting. we were ready to leave many times throughout the movie but didnt, i wish we had.

the storyline was there, but just got dragged on, and on and on and on and on, get it?

the length could have been cut in half and it still may have been too long. bad bad bad. you will lose an hour and 40 minutes of your life if you go to see this movie.

    The Impossible

J.A. Bayona directed one of my favorite horror movies of recent years, The Orphanage, and being unaware this was his film, I was a bit surprised to see his name scroll in the director credit for this true story tsunami drama. His melodramatic approach here is typical of disaster films and though it's better than most in that grain, it ultimately felt too tidy for my taste. I liked Ewan McGregor's performance as much as Naomi Watts' but wouldn't say either was exceedingly deserving of an acting nomination. Oh and what's with the subtle yet pointed anti-Americanism? I get that most of the world has a general dislike for the U.S. but what is its relevance to this tragic situation? Was there heavy criticism for our relief efforts with this particular disaster of which I was (blissfully) unaware? 3.25 stars (out of 5)

    Great movie, but not PG-13

    by jh354

This movie was very heart- wrenching and the acting was fabulous. I brought my 13 and 14 year old children and it was not appropriate for them. There are 3 unnecessary boob shots of Naomi Watts (one where her breast is completely bare) that I was not prepared for. There are some shots of open wounds that they turned their heads away from as it was so graphic. I can understand that the director wanted to realistically illustrate this tragic disaster, but it should have been given an R rating.

The best movie you'll see in 2013

    by

Gut-wrenching and utterly moving, this film is a beautiful account of a real families strength and struggle during the 2004 Tsunami in Thailand. It's amazing to see how this family endured such a massive tragedy, and eventually overcame and became reunited.

    first 15 minutes riveting

went with 4 teenagers thought the movie was intense and at times more gory then expected but all around loved it and over 2 hours flew by, bring your tissues even if you are a guy.

    A Bit Predictable

I'm a Naomi Watts fan, so I was hoping for a better film. The story is bit predictable, so there's not a lot of tension. The acting is first rate and the special effects are very well done, but the film was tedious in parts. Go if you are into disaster films.

    Sad but wonderful

The acting of this movie is AWESOME! (Except the 2 seconds that Chinese nurse ruined) but seriously you will feel every emotion during this movie I felt like I needed to get up go to Asia and help! It was so sad and honestly I probably will never watch it again because it was to emotional but it was good and realistic!
