Cameron-quality 3D at the service of Cirque du Soleil magic

    by ppeyret

Extraordinary 90mns of the most acrobatic and visually stunning numbers by the Cirque du Soleil in multiple Vegas venues. All filmed at creative angles and close ups by James Cameron's team of 3D wizards.

Perfect also for non-English speakers, if you have family visiting from abroad during the holiday.

    Crrque du Soleil Worlds Away

Absolutely spectacular. A visual masterpiece and a joy to listen to. Being able to see the performers up close and watch their facial expressions is something you never get at an actual Cirque performance. Loved every minute.

Where is the 3D effects ?

A nice story line with parts from several shows highlighted to complete the movie. The costumes were original & fantastic throughout. The colors were vibrant, the action acrobatics were excellent. James Cameron did a good job bringing the ( Avatar Effects ) to the screen, but we were waiting for the 3D effects during the whole movie!!!

    Don't Believe The Hype

Colors and costumes, not as vivid as advertised. Many scenes filmed as if you were sitting in the "cheap seats", so you lacked that "front row" and/or "up close" experience... even in 3D! My fam & I have seen live performances and thought the theatrics were good in the movie, but the visual was a little janky.

If you're even remotely interested in Cirque du Soleil this movie is completely worth your time and money.

    by

The two best things about this movie were the closeups and the slow motion, the third best thing was several of their shows were incorporated into one story for the movie. The action in a live show is very fast and dramatic, it was wonderful to see the foot placements, the hand holds and releases, the seemingly physically impossible feats up close and slow enough to grasp the action.

The viewer who may not be familiar with Cirque du Soleil gets a terrific opportunity to see the amazing costumes and hear the original music from several shows. Of course visuals leave you breathless as is true with the live shows.

The only negative was having to wear the 3D glasses which are uncomfortable for me, and overall we were of the mind that the 3D did not enhance the movie enough to make it worthwhile.

Other than that this show is a must, children and adults together will be mesmerized.

    A sampler of Cirque

You do not have to have seen any other Cirque shows to enjoy the movie, but if you have seen any I think you may enjoy the movie more. For me,too many of the Cirque de Soleil shows are very impressive circus shows. It's shows like Ka that I like the most because of the story line and the action around it. In Worlds Away there is a story that links the action and gives it a goal. Parts of various shows are woven around the central story line. These are performed on the specialized stages built for the various shows. One of the significant differences between viewing the movie and being in the audience at the various shows is that in the movie you get camera perspectives you do not get in the auditorium of the show--close-ups and views from above. But, from the auditorium the size of things and the control of sound in the room (as in Ka) are not reproduced in the movie. The duet, between the girl and the Aerialist, at the end with the forest scene from Ka was very moving.

    Great experience

    by

I have never been to a Cirque du Soleil show in person before, I have seen documentaries and HBO specials. This was truly a nice escape from reality. The storyline set a nice tone as the two main characters walked you through various acts. Seeing it in 3D made for an inspiring experience. I went with my parents, who have been to a live show and they both agreed that this was a great way to experience Cirque du Soleil because it really allows you to appreciate each act from various perspectives.

Cirque du Soleil in 3D - very good movie

Although nothing on a screen can compare to seeing the shows live, especially in Las Vegas, this movie does a very good job of nearly recreating the experience of the live shows, particularly since it's in 3D. If you can't get to Las Vegas to see KA, Mystiere, LOVE, or "O", this is a pretty good approximation.

    A Taste of Las Vegas

I am so happy that the wonder, beauty, and unbelievable technical stage wizardry of the Las Vegas Cirque shows has been captured and made available to a larger audience! When I went to see Ka, it broke my heart that it was not available as a DVD. The obstacles of getting to Las Vegas combined with the ticket prices being pretty stiff made the show unapproachable to all but a few. At least this way many, many people have an opportunity to enjoy these folks' art!

Cirque, there is nothing like it!

3D is always fun, and so is Cirque so you can't beat this combo. Nothing compares to a live Cirque show, but this is the next best thing. Very affordable way to see Cirque if you haven't been to a live show and would like a fine sampling of what you will see at one. The cool thing about this movie is that you get great close-ups of acts and performers that you could never see in even the best seats at a real show. The artistic element also pops even more so than a live show. Each has their advantages. It's my goal to see everything Cirque during the course of my lifetime so I couldn't miss it and you shouldn't either. Cirque Du Soleil is simply the best. Why are you still sitting here reading this, you should be ordering your tickets !

    more theatrical than amazing

    by ksc_jnc

I saw a cirque show recently so I couldn't wait to take my kids. Although a few parts were neat, it was like a combination of several shows and was much more gothic and theatrical than it was amazing. disappointed..

    Breath taking

    Music captivating.
    Visual beautiful
Did not like the Beatle section. Personally did not think it went with all the other beautiful parts.
    Would love to see again.

    Beautiful Escape

I loved this movie. It was basically what you'd see in a stage show, except with a stronger story and a few extra things you'd expect in a movie. Seeing it in 3D is definitely the best way to watch it, as you feel much closer to all the action, although there were sequences where I felt very strange. Sort of unreal. It can definitely be trippy, so if you have problems with anxiety or anything like that, 2D may be a better option for you. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves Cirque du Soleil or just likes a good show. Great date movie too!
