Great effects, but WAY off the story
I'm a long time Ender's Game fan, loved the book so much I've read it half a dozen times, and was really looking forward to an adaptation of the book. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. Major parts of the novel were glanced over in the blink of an eye, and none of the actors portrayed their characters properly. The acting itself was near flat, and lines seemed forced, especially when they tried to excerpt them from the book. If you want a true experience of what this phenomenal book has to offer, read it. The movie does not deliver on the story.
One thing, however, that this movie does excellently would be the effects. The Battle school games and fleet sequences are artfully done and look amazing. They are near exact recreations of what I visualized (with a few minor differences) while reading the book.
Overall, I would give this movie a 6/10, however as a book adaptation, it is closer to a 3 or 4/10. Ender lovers, beware, this is not going to make you jump for joy.
