    Great movie. Rank it up there with Argo. Didn't think I would like it being a female, but it's a terrific eye opening true story about what brave people are out there protecting our country and our lives.

    It brought real life to the story.

    I don't know about you but even though I knew the story of the death of OBL (I thought) this movie helped provide a visual and emotional conclusion. The beginning recordings of actual 911 calls on 9/11 was the perfect back drop and set the scene for the rest of the movie. You can viscerally feel the chopper blades and explosions. This lends to the total movie and story telling experience. Excellent movie. Jessica Chastain does a great job, but not sure it was Best Actress worthy.

    Intense

    Well done documentary of the nitty-gritty work it took by a single person, but --- whoa! --- spoiler alert! We know how it ends. Bigelow should have gotten a nomination for an Oscar!

    Well made. Worth some awards.

    Saw this movie last night. It is well made and worth seeing. Even though we knew the outcome, it has some very tense moments and surprises for the viewer throughout.

    Awesome

    Even though we all know the ending it's still a great ride.
    Jessica Chastain is simply outstanding.
    If you are expecting a Bourne style - balls to the wall from beginning to end - that's not what this is. This is the way it happens in the real world - slow and steady.

    Really good movie, the best of the year?, probably not.. But it's a good casting, Jessica Chastain is excellent.. good timing, and the scene at osama's house, is wonderful!

    Zero Dark Thirty

    A very interesting and in depth look at the the actual events that lead to killing Bin Laden. Fascinating. The torture of the captives is very controversial but this is not the focus or point of the movie. This is the story of the killing of an evil, hate filled human being who was responsible for the murder of 3000 Americans on September 11.

    Zero dark thirty

    Good movie - not great. I have no idea how close to the truth the story was but it was interesting. The film delved into enhanced interrogation and the CIA personnel behind the scenes. The lead character of the film, Mia, was a bit over the top in her behavior and I found her interactions with CIA supervisors ridiculous (I guess you have to have a brash, foul mouthed female in every movie these days.) I would give it a 7 out of 10 stars.

    Very good movie, but maybe a tad long

    It's as good as they say. My only issue is that it didn't need to as long as it is. It was definitely more slowly paced than I thought it would be.

    Just an amazing movie

    This is a very exciting, very suspenceful movie and will keep you on the edge of your seat and even make you jump off your seat a few times. The movie covered September 11th and you get to live through all the attacks al over the world and watch as we try to find and hunt down our number 1 enemy of the state.

    You have to see this movie!!!!

    There is a lot of violence so it might not be for the kids. This was a very violent time in our history and this movie covers it very well.

    I thoroughly enjoyed Jessica Chastain's perf in 'Zero Dark 30'

    I thoroughly enjoyed Jessica Chastain's perf in 'Zero Dark 30'. I thought her character reminiscent of Al Pacino's Vincent, in 'Heat'. Except, more than Vincent, Maya is fairly devoid of any social life. Like Vincent, she lives for the hunt, and she's good at it. Part of the film's irony being that a woman was responsible for Ladin's demise, in the midst, of an emotionally reactive, male driven society. In a time and place where Truth seems fleeting, hidden, repressed censored, for sale, she looks down at the body and knows the truth is that she caused this to happen whether the universe knows or not.Though some of her intel is obtained through violent interrogation there is also the point made that she's pieced this puzzle together through not just research and analysis but with a fervor that goes, what could be considered, beyond the requirements of the job. Maybe she is the female 'Bourne'. She wrestles a different kind of wolf, but with a similar ferocity.

    It could have been better

    Hollywood. Focus too much on the girl by portraying what we see in most movies: girls kicking asses and be the heroine. I wish they would have focused more on the Seals and more action but oh well, that's Hollywood!

    A great movie

    After seeing The Hurt Locker i was convinced Zero Dark Thirty was going to be great just because Kathryn Bigelow had her hand in it. And it turns out i was absolutely right. I enjoyed every aspect of this movie. It was very interesting to see the main character get invested in finding Bin Laden after everything that happened to her. Definitely go check it out.

    Great if taken on its own terms

    As others have written, the film is not perfect. Some aspects seemed unbelievable. It was not clear which parts were 100% factually accurate, and there was little exploration of cultural/moral or other themes or dilemmas. However, the aim of this movie was to tell a particular story and it is fairly realistic. I am not sure it is a fair critique to say they should have made a different movie. Themes such as how individuals with deep expertise get their views through organizations with multiple and often politicized objectives rang true to me. The depiction of the tremendous difficulties involved in just getting and following a specific lead and the dangers that individuals faced in doing so were fascinating. Of course there is more to the story and there are useful debates to be had about torture, revenge, etc., but most of the public criticisms are motivated by ideology and politics. Taken on its own terms, the movie is great. The final raid sequence was fantastic.
