    Zero Dark Thirty

I went expecting to love this movie...but I found it to be extremely boring. I have read that it is slow-moving, but trust me, it is simply a very boring and drawn out storyline.

    Historically significant but tedious

I cannot say that this film is "good".
Being based on a true story makes it significant, but also tedious and too long.
Tha acting is competent but not outstanding . I feel like, because it covers such sensitive material, people are judging it to be better than it is. If had not been based on truth it never would have been a movie. I understand the director's quest, and it is a noble one, but the result is not satisfying.

    better than I expected

    by ajibaji

I enjoyed very much how the two women tracked down the information and painstakingly built a case while the torture and hard interrogations yielded either wrong or no information. It was like a detective story unfolding. The acting was wonderful and the actual raid and escape the last half hour of the film were hair raising even through you knew the outcome. Very good film, well directed. I recommend it.

    SRQ Review

I understand why Argo won the Critics Choice award for Best Director/Picture. There was a tension and heart throughout that was missing in Zero Dark Thirty. It was a good film though and worth seeing to remember the men and woman who die in the name of Terrorism and the people who keep us safe.

    Excellent docudrama

    by jhs39

What could have been a dry two and a half hour exploration of the hunt for Osama Bin Laden over more than a decade was a gripping and surprisingly fast paced film. It's a shame Kathryn Bidelow didn't get an Academy Award nomination for director but Zero Dark Thirty was easily one of the best films of the year.

    Patriotic Thriller

You know the outcome but the movie keeps you at the edge of your seat throughout the film. It doesn?t matter if we know for sure certain aspects of the accuracy of all events, you get the idea however. The 2.5 hour movie concerned me before the movie started, but when it ended it didn?t seem like 2.5 hours. The movie not only kept moving but kept me on the edge to the end. Not for kids, and those who have issues with the language, but a must see for patriotic film goers.

    Do not waste your money

    by hueyak

This movie is really bad; it's long and boring. It's not about the Navy Seals, they're hardly in it. It's all about a CIA woman taking credit from someone else for finding Bin Ladin. I find it hard to believe that she didn't write the script because there is definitely some delusional narcissism. If I had been by myself I would have walked out early.

Zero Dark Thirty Lived Up to the Billing!

    by

My first real introduction Jessica Chastain was an interview she did on Charle Rose about a month ago. If you go to the Charle Rose site and search with her name, you can watch on your computer or tablet.

I don't know who the real Maya is or what she looks like, for obvious reasons, but she really fulfilled my expectations of the role she played in the mission. The story is about gathering together small pieces of information from many sources, which, in the end, leads to the demise of Bin Laden.

The film seems very realistic, full of suspense, very entertaining and leaves some pretty interesting open questions at the end. It's a must go!

    Zero Dark Thirty

Very long, disjointed movie...all over the board and could not understand the point. The last 25 minutes were interesting but it took way too long to get to the last 25 minutes.

    Intel bubba's wet dream...

    by

Zero Dark Thirty, is a good movie, not great, but good. We all know what happens.

It is a Hollywood portrayal of the hard work of intel gathering, a part of military life, not glorified by movies. As an Infantry Marine, and vet of OIF, I understand the importance of intel, and this movie gave me more of an insight on why our intel was always wrong. The tactics are wrong, the acting is....ok. But a movie based on a blatant opsec leak made by the president is always going to be over the top.

All in all I liked the movie, its long, and obviously long. Some parts are slow. But a story about the man hunt to kill the trash responsible for 9/11 will always get my money.

    Zero Dark Thirty

The torturing went on for way too long, and we are not convinced it is a true depiction of the facts. Did torture have anything to do with the information that led to Bin Laden, I think not. The movie clearly shows that the most pertinent information came from those who openly gave up the goods, rather than be tortured, so why the need to spend the first hour torturing people seemed more for reaction than anything else. Having said that, the acting is very good, the scenes with the Navy Seals are incredible. It truly felt as if we were there with the Seals, taking every step toward the amazing moment of "finally" finding and killing Osama Bin Laden. Overall, a good movie, and I recommend to all.

Greatest movie for the late and earliest of the 2013 season.

Enjoyed this movie from the beginning to the end. Good story lines and some true facts mixed very well. Great to have in your movie library to watch over and over again; as well as to share with your family, friends as well as guest at your home.

    Zero Dark Thirty

    by jeaniel

Very gripping! Gave a real sense of what it is like as a CIA operative (mostly tedious work and a lot of waiting) and as a member of a Seal team on an operation. Night vision scenes were, no pun intended, illuminating. Actors were unselfconscious and seemed real. Knowing the end of the story did not prevent this from being an "edge of the seat" experience. I found it difficult to understand all of the dialogue at times, but this, too, gave a sense of reality because I felt the characters sometimes had trouble understanding or hearing well. We may not ever know whether the depiction of these events is true to what really happened, but it's a very good movie experience.

    Sluggishly slow

    by

This was harder to watch than a documentary you were forced to watch in junior high history class...fighting to stay awake and find something interesting. the news was more entertaining... Looked very forward to seeing it, was VERY DISAPPOINTED...

    Weep for the next generation

I just watched this movie last night on opening night. The movie was scarcely packed, which was a surprise considering the amount of positive buzz surrounding this movie. The majority of the film goers in the theater were 18-22 year old college students. Now, personally, I loved the movie. I was enthralled with the slow burning dialog and the drawn out suspense of a story most only know the finish of. I was expecting the typical chatter in the rows exiting the theater of praise and adulation. Instead, as the screen went to black, a young hipster proclaims 'Finally! Worst movie ever!'. This was coupled with the agreeing remarks from other young people surrounding us. Myself, 29, and my two friends, also 29, were shocked. We came to the conclusion, that although this movie may not be for everyone, you can't deny the powerful tone behind it. I guess if you were under the age of 10 when 9/11 happened, you probably should never see this movie. You have no impression of the dread of that day
