    Intel bubba's wet dream...

    by

Zero Dark Thirty, is a good movie, not great, but good. We all know what happens.

It is a Hollywood portrayal of the hard work of intel gathering, a part of military life, not glorified by movies. As an Infantry Marine, and vet of OIF, I understand the importance of intel, and this movie gave me more of an insight on why our intel was always wrong. The tactics are wrong, the acting is....ok. But a movie based on a blatant opsec leak made by the president is always going to be over the top.

All in all I liked the movie, its long, and obviously long. Some parts are slow. But a story about the man hunt to kill the trash responsible for 9/11 will always get my money.

    Zero Dark 30

The movie starts and slowly draws you in until you can't look away from the screen and find your heart pounding from the time you first see the helicopters. Go.

    Liked it

Good movie. Well produced, directed and acted. Doesn't really take sides politically. A gripping account of of the years long search for (more than the killing of) Osama Bin Laden. The raid in Pakistan isn't the bulk of the movie which is all about one woman's campaign to find him. Good show.

I watched it one night until 2 AM and was absolutely glued the TV. So the next day I watched it again (within my 24 hours rental) and saw even more! Definately a MUST GO!

Don't let the torture hype fool you.

    by Jans368

This documentary style film is well worth the watch. The earlier hype about the torture depicted was unwarranted. It happened; unless you were a hermit you already knew about it. It is such a small (but necessary) part of the story portrayed here, it would not be a shame to miss this well written account of a very important part of our history. Parts are brutal but then war is never pretty.

    Great movie!

    by

Definitely go see it. Some of the explosions will come at very surprising times and the final portion of the movie is tense as hell. I wasn't sitting on the edge of my seat, only because I knew what was going to happen. The title cards before each major scene were unneeded. Great sound, great acting, and one hell of a final scene! Definitely worth seeing.

    Zero Dark Thirty

This could very well be the best movie of the year, I still don't understand how the Academy can justify both Katharine Bigelow and Ben Affleck not being nominated, they both deserve to be nominated. This movie was brillantly and geniusly directed, very well written, and very easy to follow along with. The cast, immpecable. As much as I loved Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linging Playbook, Jessica Chastin should get best actress. The other cast members were perfectly casted, and some moments were pretty funny for a serious matter. This is one movie that everyone should see, but don't take my word for it, see it for yourselves.

    Very real, good movie

My husband and I went to this over the weekend. Very good, I liked this movie except the ending. I wish the ending would have been different.

    The History of the Hunt

    by bgmayes

It's a story about one person who would not give up looking for UBL and how she found him and the subsequent raid. It's a pretty good story and gives you a little insight into what it takes to find someone who knows how not to be found... Great movie

    Slow Build to Terrific End

    by GregorC

I believe Kathryn Bigelow has an incredible insight into the overall tedious nature and grindingly slow pace of actual wartime. Unfortunately, she makes her movies to reflect this frustratingly snail-paced existence. I think it's intentional. I can't criticize her vision. The direction is pointed and specific and highly realistic. It's just not a particularly gripping movie until the mission to kill Bin Laden begins near the end.

Fine performances from everyone in it make it watchable, however.

    LONG and SLOOOOW!

Let's face it. We all know how it ends. So I'm not spoiling anything. It's a solid 2 hours 15mins of a headstrong girl with something to prove doing various detective work, and 20 mins of compound raid. The entire back-story is slow with ZERO twists and NOTHING exciting. I was in the military (did two tours to the Middle East) and all the political office chatter was not entertaining at all. This movie is essentially a History Channel documentary with a main character storyline. YAWN!

    Gives you new perspective

I appreciated that this movie highlights how very difficult it is for the intelligence community to monitor and locate people who desire to do harm. It also shows us how very dangerous and life-consuming their work can be.
I loved the real-time reinactment of the raid on the Bin Laden compound. It was fascinating watching it portrayed so realistically. Definitely my favorite part of the movie.

    Zero Dark Thirty

I thought is was going to be exciting from begining to end but it was slow going and unfortunately I fell asleep during those parts. But when it picked up again I was opened eyed.

The ending was pretty entertaining going in blowing off doors and much more. I guess this might be more of guy flick then a chick flick.

For me it was and ehh ok show..

Great movie.4 stars. It's an adult film for sure for language, violence and content. My only question to the Oscar nominating commitee is how can they nominate this as a best picture candidate and not it's director Katherine Bigelow? The academy is way too political to not acknowledge her great direction of a fantastic script.Jessica Chastain may win an Oscar for her outstanding performance. Enjoy this 2 and 1/2 hour film that is extremely well paced.
