    Zero Dark Thirty

Over all it was a good movie with one exception - torture. It implied that we got actionable intel from torture. We didn't, and Senator's Feinstein and McCain (two senators that I seldom agree with) got it right when they protested the torture implications of the movie.

Good but not as good as ARGO

    by ecritic

It was a good film but the torture scenes seemed overdone in relation to the plot and the linear use of the single analyst oversimplified a complicated tale and detracted from other character development. In fact, the leading character seemed more a plot device than a real person--at the end we knew little more about her except that she was focused and RIGHT! Finally, per the heading, it seemed that Argo took a somewhat smaller but equally dangerous and complex tale and drew a number of complicated threads together to create a riveting story. We knew the outcome of both sagas but with Argo we really cared about the people more.

    Zero Dark Thirty

This movie is pretty lengthy so be prepared going in. At times the film seems to drag on but I felt that it was very interesting just for the fact that it deals with events that are still very current. Great storyline and actors, I would definitely say this movie is worth the price.

    Gripping

    by lol_kat

While it's not as "action packed" as I thought it would be, watching the story behind Bin Laden's capture was thrilling. Even during the office scenes, you feel like the world could explode at any moment. And even though we know how the movie ends, the big takedown has you on the edge of your seat.

    Zero Dark Thirty

This could very well be the best movie of the year, I still don't understand how the Academy can justify both Katharine Bigelow and Ben Affleck not being nominated, they both deserve to be nominated. This movie was brillantly and geniusly directed, very well written, and very easy to follow along with. The cast, immpecable. As much as I loved Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linging Playbook, Jessica Chastin should get best actress. The other cast members were perfectly casted, and some moments were pretty funny for a serious matter. This is one movie that everyone should see, but don't take my word for it, see it for yourselves.

A great hunt for osama bin ladan

Ok, this is going to be hard to explain so heres a pros and cons list. Pros: Storyline, Interviews, and acting (espicailly Jessica). Cons, Character development and length. The movie is good, just not what I thought it would be and 2hrs 30mins is a long time to keep someone in. This movie shouldn't win any oscars except for maybe Chastain, and the movie isn't all about Osama, its about his messengers, which I would have wanted to know before. Bottom Line : If you like a hunt journey of a oscar contender, go see this movie, no questions asked, but I would recommend seeing Argo instead.

Bigelow scores again with Zero Dark Thirty!

    by

Zero Dark Thirty" is intense as hell! I don't think I blinked during the entire film. Not quite as gripping as "The Hurt Locker" but well worth the price of admission. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal make quite a team. Go see this!

    Zero Dark Thirty

This is not a documentary but it is based on the hunt for the al Qaeda terrorist leader , Osama bin Laden , which lasted around ten years [starting right after September 11, 2001 until May of 2011] . It's directed by Kathryn Bigelow [The Hurt Locker] and focuses on Jessica , a C.I.A. operative that spends the better part of a decade looking for Osama . In the early years , you see the not-so-legal [and much frowned upon] uses of torture and then there is the exhaustive tracking down of every lead in her search . Joel plays the squadron leader of the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 , that performed the victorious mission . The title of the movie comes from a military term referring to a non specific time when it is dark outside [usually very late or very early] and it is actually pronounced 'Oh-Dark-30'] . It is a good film [if you are interested in the subject matter] but it is slow-moving [the actual raid is not until about the last 30 minutes of a two and a half hour movie] .

I mean it was okay but it wasn't even close to as good as Garfield 2: A Tail of Two Kitties

    Go see it

Started a bit slow I thought. The trailers show a lot of SEAL team footage but they don't even come in until about 2/3rds of the way through the movie. If you like Homeland go see this flick. It's good it was just a little different than what I had expected based on the trailers.

    A must-See

Don't miss it in the theater. Even though you know the outcome, I bet you had NO idea what went into making it come to fruition. We easily forget all that these Americans overseas do to protect our freedom...

    Decent Movie Overall

    by

This movie was very slow in the beginning and unless you've kept up with current news and events over the last twelve years, you're going to be confused as to what the actors are talking about. The movie does very well in keeping the story in line with the actual events in the sequence of the manhunt and it properly illustrates the frustrations in the intelligence community during the manhunt. Overall I liked this movie, but I would not pay to see it again in theaters.

    Great Movie

Awesome movie based on real life accounts of brave Americans who tracked down one of the most pathetic excuses for a human being the world has ever known.

    Zero Dark Thirty

This is an excellent movie and had a lot of information that I didn't know. Jessica Chastain was wonderful and she should win the Academy award. It kept you on the edge of your seat when the Navy Seals went into the compound. It was amazing that they were able to go into the compound, blow the doors and actually get to the location where Osama was hiding. I would recommend it to everyone who want to have more information about this life changing event.

Good but could have been so much better

The movie focus is on the CIA operatives rather than the Seal Team that executed the mission. It leaves you thinking that the movie was made by or at least the story controlled by the CIA operative whose sole task at the Agency was to find Bin Laden (who also supposedly wanted all of the credit for killing Bin Laden even though a lot of people were essential). This culminates with a terrible ending that focuses on her rather than climaxing with the identification of Bin Laden and his burial in the depths of the dark ocean where he belongs. I look forward to a movie that celebrates the Seals and spends valuable film time on their preparation and execution of the raid that resulted in Bin Laden's death. Heck, I think a History Channel documentary will be better. At least then we will know who all was in the house and what happened to everyone. See it for yourself, but don't expect this to be the movie of your life unless you don't read/watch news and know the story going in.
