History in the Making
The overwhelming impression I got from this film was realism. Although those expecting a fast-paced story may be dissapointed, they will get a taught and engaging experience where the characters' frustrations and motives are shared by all. Upon viewing the final 30 minutes, anyone let down by the pacing will be rewarded with a fine sequence that is exciting and realistic while still remaining understated and understandable. Events are for the most part very true to actual events that were described by its participants. While the film makers could have produced another biased arrogance piece out of this film, they remained down-the-middle and stuck to the facts. The dialogue was somber and straight-forward, with small bits of humor put in to cut the tension and restore the humanity to certain characters. Although the scope of the film was ambitious, and the events spaced over many years, they managed to maintain a coherent narrative.
