Maybe two psychpaths too many
This is a movie that tries a little too hard. The trailer led me to expect something along the lines of 'Snatch' or, maybe closer, 'Two Days in the Valley', but it isn't quite there. Strangely, for some reason I want to compare it to 'Kick-Ass', even though this isn't a superhero movie at all. Christopher Walken is at his most threatening (even as a pacifist), Colin Farrell at his drunkest, Woody Harrelson at his over-the-toppest, Sam Rockwell at his 'unhingednest', and Olga Kurylenko totally wasted (she has one scene). Linda Bright Clay, as Walkens wife, plays a much bigger (and much better) role, yet she doesn't even get to be on the movie poster.
There is a great deal of violence, most of it ridiculously bloody, so you are warned. And the move gets sidetracked by some of the psychopath's stories, which aren't related to the plot, except as Collins' writer character wrestles with his screenplay.
I'll give 'Seven Psychopathcs' *** 3/4.
