Entertaining and shallow

I saw Lincoln last week and so the comparison is not a good one. Lincoln was thought provoking and JR was thoughtless. That being said, it was action packed and fast paced so there is no possibility of falling asleep. I am not sorry I saw it but would not go out of my way to see it in the theatre. In terms of fun flicks to see that are out now, I liked "Silver Lining" better.

JR might be a good flick to catch at home.

I had my doubts about supporting the "Tom Cruise" franchise, so I alomost didn't go. But I did go and the movie was excellent! For the first time in a while, I was bummed when it was over. Hope they make a sequel!

Good Story Line.

I liked the lay out of the story line, but I think the lead role could have been done better by some one else like Jason Statham, Daniel Craig, or Liam Neeson would have been my choices over Tom Curse.

not quite the action and suspense of mission impossible movies, but still good. you can't beat tom cruise for acting abilities and the story was different, so it keeps you engaged.

Jack Reacher is the new Charles Bronson

This movie was action-packed and suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The car chases were great - I felt like I was in the car with him. Cannot wait for another in this series of movies.

Wonderful movie with non stop action, TOm Cruise was excellent in the role, and so was Robert Duvall and the other cast as well. The plot was intense and only one real gross out scene, other than that, it's a great thriller that should by action movie fans, but don't take my word for it, see it for yourselves.

Cruise actually does justice to the iconic character of Reacher

When I heard TC was going to play Reacher, I was seriously dismayed; however, I think that he really did a fantastic job. TC really showed a different side in this movie which was well written and engaging. For those fans of the book series that are unsure, give it a chance! I think you will be pleasantly surprised...

Good, but Tom Cruise was mis-cast.

I was unaware of the Jack Reacher character until the movie trailers came out, so first read the book it was based on, "One Shot". The book was suspenseful and the story more complex as it progressed. The movie was just "good", though the plot was simplified and changed somewhat. Tom Cruise did an excellent job but ultimately he is entirely different physically than the book character. In the book Jack Reacher is 6'5" and 250 lbs. His size is an integral part of who he is. For example, in one scene a character is killed by the bad guys by one punch to the head in an effort to frame Jack. This was done because normally this would require a very large man to do this, so the whole reason was wasted using Tom Cruise at 5'8". Perhaps Liam Neeson, who is 6'4"wasn't available because he would have been the logical and perfect fit. Also one scene in the movie was completely ridiculous and done for a few laughs, but was so slapstick it cheapened the movie a tad. I give is 6.5.

Outstanding

Absolutely one of the best Tom Cruise movies I've seen. Very well put together and the actors were definitely top shelf. I will, without a doubt, purchase the movie once released.

Jack Reacher Needs to Reach for Something New

This movie did not impress me at all. It was nothing but the DC Sniper (mentality) and of course the same old nothing new cliche Tom Cruise. So predictable. Sorry! I guess I need to stick with comedy.

Not like the book OK, just a awesome Movie!

This film i really enjoyed. I always said in movie why didnt he double tap(shoot) the enemy instead of just shooting him one and he lives for another day. His attitide in this film resemble Liam's Role in Taken, a bad*** Kiil first kind of lifestyle. And the car Chase!!!! Closly resembles the famous Bullit Chase with its no music just the rumble of the engine and close up shots. Real driving not CGI!!!

Definitely worth the view!

The movie "Jack Reacher" will never be able to capture what the book does; Jack Reacher's thoughts, mental calculations of trajectory, weight, height, number of adversaries to be eliminated; who the leader of the pack is,etc., but all that aside, it does the best that can be done. I strongly advise reading the book, "One Shot" first, which you will enjoy immensely, but then see the movie. If you are a Jack Reacher fan you will enjoy it. I agreed with so many others, Tom Cruise is just too short, but honestly, I didn't notice that as much I thought I would, and Cruise embodies Reacher in all other ways.

Jack Reacher: No Car Exploding Going Over a Cliff

?Tom Cruise can?t play Jack Reacher. He?s too short,? was the response to my plans to see Jack Reacher. Height aside (they can do WONDERS with boxes these days), Tom Cruise has never struck me as the bad-*** action hero type. But he is a solid enough actor to watch for an hour and a half, so I figured why the hell not. He?s no Dolemite, but as Rudy Ray Moore passed into the great unknown some years back, Cruise is as close as I?m going to get to Dolemite (out of a short honky, that is). What was entertaining was the film managed to sate my desire for bullets, brawn and beauties without being gratuitously retarded about any of them. Undoubtably this film manages to keep it?s cool because it?s more crime than action, but it could have easily had at least one car exploding after going off a cliff. Don?t get me wrong, I love the explosions, but I have to admit that the lack of funds for special effects leaves more room for story. A solid story, even a predictable one, is damned entertainin

Jack Reacher was a good movie the plot was nice and again Tom Cruise an excellent actor. Can't wait for the next Jack Reacher movie.....A must go see... you will enjoy

Great action flick

My husband and I really enjoyed this movie. Lots of plot twists which kept it interesting. I had read some of the Jack Reacher books so I was in the skeptic group about Tom Cruise and his size not living up to the book version. This was not a problem at all. Tom did a great job as always in this kind of show. Rest of the cast also had good performances.
