I liked the movie very much, I was not happy with some of the lanuage, The lanuage using God's name was not called for, other words could have been used with out taking away from the moive.Other than that I think all other parts were very good

No Wasted Motion

You can compare the entire movie to the simple, but brutally effective, martial arts style Reacher uses to pound his foes. No fancy spinning kicks or wire assisted flips. He simply lines them up and puts them down with just enough pain to make them stay down. No more and no less. That philosophy colors every element of the film. There's nothing gaudy or flashy about "Jack Reacher". They give you just what you need to be a tight action/ "mystery"/ thriller. Including one of the best car chases I've seen since Bourn.

Tom Cruise in no Jack Reacher.

The title says it all. Tom Cruise is in no way, shape, or from, Jack Reacher. The only thing they have in common is that they are both male.
Cruise is a wimp and in no way personifies the Largeness of Jack Reacher. What a HORRIBLE miscast.
Just because you buy the rights to a movie should not mean you should play the main character. What a narcissist he is.
This movie is CRAP.

Jack Reacher movie

This film should have been a straight to DVD release. The action scenes were unrealistic and the dialogue was something you might see in a comic book. Overall two out of five stars.

Entertaining and shallow

I saw Lincoln last week and so the comparison is not a good one. Lincoln was thought provoking and JR was thoughtless. That being said, it was action packed and fast paced so there is no possibility of falling asleep. I am not sorry I saw it but would not go out of my way to see it in the theatre. In terms of fun flicks to see that are out now, I liked "Silver Lining" better.

JR might be a good flick to catch at home.

Great Entertainment.

Well-done action yarn with a plot, tempo and acting that were all well done. Cruise still effective as a good-guy badaz. Watching that bitchin Chevelle get banged up in the filming of the chase scene was a little tough to take. Overall good balance of drama, action, suspense and humor. Got my money's worth.

Good Story Line.

I liked the lay out of the story line, but I think the lead role could have been done better by some one else like Jason Statham, Daniel Craig, or Liam Neeson would have been my choices over Tom Curse.

Jack Reacher

After reading all of Lee Childs Jack Reacher Books I went to this movie thinking how can Tom Cruise ever do the part of Reacher justice. Well he does it good. This is a must see for Reacher fans and a great movie for everyone. Followed the book well,only a little corny in one place (the bath tub scene,a little overdone). Great car chase scene (I personally dont care much for them but this one was different,shades of the French Connection Movie chase scene). Just go see this movie its 2hrs plus, but never a lull like most 2 hr movies. 5 Stars out of 5 +++++.

Slow but Good

Tom Cruise's fast comebacks are trademarks that make the movie interesting, especially in the slow parts. Overall, it is suspenseful and keeps your attention. Hey, my husband who falls asleep in just about any movie, especially if it is slow at times, stayed awake and actually found it to be a good movie.

This movie was action-packed and suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The car chases were great - I felt like I was in the car with him. Cannot wait for another in this series of movies.

Awesome Movie!

Brilliant movie! Tom Cruises best movie yet! Characters and story line was flawless! I recommend everyone to go see this movie take the whole family want a fun night out with your lady go see it you wont leave disappointed!!! Perfectly Hilarious!! I would see it again and again!

A really good one

I've read all of the Reacher series and I think that this movie caught the essence of Lee Child's character and certainly ran fairly true to the original novel's story line.. Action scenes incredible - too bad they had to trash that beautiful chevy! Bad guys really bad, good guys really good as Reacher metes out his particular but believable form of justice. Glad to see Child's Reacher series hitting the big screen. Cruise did an excellent job and the other actors supported him very well. Hope they can do more of the series just as well.

I Was Skeptical

I honestly wasn't sure what type of movie this was going to be; I was skeptical and couldn't enjoy myself. I was happy to find that there was a good plot with a mystery to be solved. I'm not into some of the violence personally, but I liked the occasional unexpected humor to ease the tension. I do think the rating is accurate. Don't bring little ones; this is more for teens and adults. One small warning, if you're upset by recent events in the news, you may want to wait to see it. The opening made me a bit emotional because of this.
I have never read the book that this movie was based on; so, I can't compare the two. The movie, however, had enough twists and turns to keep me interested, and the main characters got me to cheer for them. I think the movie was well acted, and had some very visually exciting scenes(cars, fights, I don't want to give too much away).
Overall, in my opinion it's pretty good. I'm going to need to see it again when I can relax and enjoy the show

Fell to sleep on this movie. Good thing, I didn't rush out to see it. He's trying to play a hard ass. Sorry, it's not his MO. Maybe next.

Loved it!

I thought this was a great movie. There were a few funny parts which I loved b/c I so love to laugh. There were no sex scenes, so I didn't regret bringing my 11 year old son (also loved it). I loved the way the detective, Reacher, was so intuitive and always had the final word (or blow). Typical Tom Cruise movie/acting. Loved the movie and T.Cruise.
