A good entertaining watch

I was very skeptical of Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher after reading all the books. Jack is, afterall a huge guy, but i left the movie very satisfied. The story and the character stayed true to the books, and was a stand alone story. All loose ends were tied up and Jack is back on his way. Open for more movies in this series. I certainly hope they make more!

Pretty bland

Cruise is a brilliant actor but the movie was bad. Boring, bland, vague as to plot, if you didn't read the Reacher books you would be completely lost as none of the characters including Reacher were even remotely introduced. The leading lady was completely devoid of any personality or facial expression, very strange. You could easily fall asleep in this movie. Too bad, it should have been a good movie.

JACK REACHER film review

This movie lived up to the hype. Tom Cruise finishes out a miraculous year that began with MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL and continued with his surprising turn as Stacie Jaxx in ROCK OF AGES. This was a suspenseful thrillride from the opening scenes.Rosamund Pike was lovely in the role as the D.A's daughter. And Robert Duvall was a scene stealer as a retired Army soldier who helps Jack in the tense final battle. This was the first time that Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall have teamed together since DAYS OF THUNDER (1990). I can definitely see him continuing this character in a potential sequel.

Entertaining and Fun!

The overall movie was action packed. I liked the movie. Cruise;s acting was superb as usual. The acting was great, the cinematography, writing, and execution of the film was well done. I would not take children under 14.
I rate this movie as a go see. Though I am NOT a CRUISE fan, he is an amazing actor.. I saw this movie weeks ago..

Action at Its Best (and Funniest)

If you like action movies, then I don't have to tell you that Tom Cruise's flicks are always terrific. This one has a wonderful car chase through Pittsburgh at night, and a bunch of great fight scenes. Say what you will about Tom, but he was born to play these kinds of roles. This is also a very funny picture, with many big laughs. I loved it and heartily recommend it.

Much better than I expected

Went to see Jack Reacher because Le Miserables was sold out and I was pleasantly surprised. The film was very entertaining, loaded with action and funny moments. I was glad that I went to watch it to cap off a nice Christmas gathering with the family. I understand that this is a series of books so I will definitely be interested in watching future Jack Reacher films.

Surprising

I was expecting Mission Improbable but this was anything but improbable. Tight script, very believable, great action (not the usual Hollywood explosions and fireballs), perfect hero, no sex. Horrible crimes portrayed, but not gratuitous. I'm going to be seeing this movie again, and it will join my BR collection, and I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Jack Reacher left me wanting...

From the previews, I had high expectations for the movie. It didn't meet those expectations though. The action was there, but the acting was sub-par at best. The story line seemed rushed at the end and simply left me a bit disappointed.

Predictable but worth the money

Not Cruise's best acting but it delivers a good story line and is worth the $11.50 for entertainment value. Many will be made uncomfortable by the first scenes of sniper fire, especially since we are still raw from the tragedy in CT, but if you stay with the story, you find out that the shooting scene is important to the plot and Cruise's part in solving the mystery behind the shootings. Robert Duvall is awesome as always in his cameo role.

I'd recommend if you just want a mindless adventure for a couple hours.

The movie was good, but I don't know how anyone that has read any of the Reacher novels can say "Cruise nailed it". He just dosen't fit the Reacher character. I admit he tried but just couldn't make it. But go see the movie, you'll enjoy the action. Then read the novels - they are worth reading!!

Good Action Film

Much better than trailer! Saw it with wife and two teen-age boys; everyone liked it. Only one S-word and no f-bombs or makeout scenes. Solid plot with twists. Last movie we saw was James Bond Skyfall which we all liked....thouht this was almost as good.

Good, but Tom Cruise was mis-cast.

I was unaware of the Jack Reacher character until the movie trailers came out, so first read the book it was based on, "One Shot". The book was suspenseful and the story more complex as it progressed. The movie was just "good", though the plot was simplified and changed somewhat. Tom Cruise did an excellent job but ultimately he is entirely different physically than the book character. In the book Jack Reacher is 6'5" and 250 lbs. His size is an integral part of who he is. For example, in one scene a character is killed by the bad guys by one punch to the head in an effort to frame Jack. This was done because normally this would require a very large man to do this, so the whole reason was wasted using Tom Cruise at 5'8". Perhaps Liam Neeson, who is 6'4"wasn't available because he would have been the logical and perfect fit. Also one scene in the movie was completely ridiculous and done for a few laughs, but was so slapstick it cheapened the movie a tad. I give is 6.5.

thought it was good!

I didn't catch myself becoming bored, the movie was long, but liked that it kept moving along. Had funny humor but loved the whole conspirecy story line. Thought Tom Cruise did a really good job in his character.

Having read a few of the books with a much larger Jack Reacher, I was skeptical about Tom Cruise playing the part. But, he pulls it off quite well. He is arrogrant and over confident and that is what the part called for. It had enough subtle humor in it to get a few loud laughs from the audience. I would go to see the next in a series of Reacher movies if that is the plan. My wife thought it moved along well and kept our attention.

Suspense, Action, Intrigue, Romance, Good Story, Well Done!

I like trying to figure out who the mole is, and this was a fun movie to do it with. There were several twists and the 'who-done-it' shifted a number of times, along with the added 'who are these guys, and what do they want'. The chase scenes were well done and believable and the SS 396 not coming out of the last one in such good condition was a little heart-breaking, but understandable. This movie was a reliably "Cruisin" movie that was plenty of fun. If you like Tom, it's a good bet you'll like this. If you don't, why would you go? I do, and I say, GO!!

ps - the "Critics" are a bunch of bums that stopped having fun about 20 years ago.
