Best action drama 2013 thus far

Wow! I was not expecting this movie to be very good, but boy was I surprised with Jack Reacher! Suspenseful, action packed, good story and fairly good humor. Go see this movie!

Tom Cruise saved this movie from awfulness

The best part of the movie was Tom Cruise and the hot guy who's later in Die Hard 5. The leading woman was awful. Her animated facial expressions made it seem like I was watching a bad book. There was no chemistry. She was unattractive and annoying. The movie was good because Tom Cruise played an interesting character. I really liked his parts and they're weren't predictable at all. A character refreshing, new and honest. The plot was eh..the actors minus the two mentioned above were "bad" but Tom Cruise really made this movie. The villains were mostly typical.

Jack Reacher: No Car Exploding Going Over a Cliff

?Tom Cruise can?t play Jack Reacher. He?s too short,? was the response to my plans to see Jack Reacher. Height aside (they can do WONDERS with boxes these days), Tom Cruise has never struck me as the bad-*** action hero type. But he is a solid enough actor to watch for an hour and a half, so I figured why the hell not. He?s no Dolemite, but as Rudy Ray Moore passed into the great unknown some years back, Cruise is as close as I?m going to get to Dolemite (out of a short honky, that is). What was entertaining was the film managed to sate my desire for bullets, brawn and beauties without being gratuitously retarded about any of them. Undoubtably this film manages to keep it?s cool because it?s more crime than action, but it could have easily had at least one car exploding after going off a cliff. Don?t get me wrong, I love the explosions, but I have to admit that the lack of funds for special effects leaves more room for story. A solid story, even a predictable one, is damned entertainin

A really good one

I've read all of the Reacher series and I think that this movie caught the essence of Lee Child's character and certainly ran fairly true to the original novel's story line.. Action scenes incredible - too bad they had to trash that beautiful chevy! Bad guys really bad, good guys really good as Reacher metes out his particular but believable form of justice. Glad to see Child's Reacher series hitting the big screen. Cruise did an excellent job and the other actors supported him very well. Hope they can do more of the series just as well.

My Sis and i went and saw this movie. She read the book its based on and i had not read it and we both really liked it. Just by the name i wasnt planning to see it at all my sis talked me into seeing it and boy im glad she did was a good action movie enjoyed it go see it :)

Reacher was much better than expected

Other than Cruise being 5'6" instead of 6'5", this is a great rendition of one of the many excellent Lee Childs Reacher novels.

The story flows along very clearly with good dialogue and action. There was none of the silliness that the Mission Impossible series has degraded to.

Hopefully this will be the first in a series!

Tom Crusie Rocks in spite of his lack of height

Lee Child fans screamed bloody murder when they learned that Cruise was determined to play Jack Reacher who is supposed to be 6' 6'' tall while, as everyone knows, Cruise is at least a foot shorter. But Child had no say in the casting decision since he had long ago sold the movie rights. Besides, Tom Cruise produced the movie himself. Well now that I've seen the movie, I'm here to tell you that Cruise "rocks" as Jack Reacher! What he lacks in height he more than makes up for with his remarkable acting skills. By way of background, for those not familiar with Lee Child's Reacher novels, the movie is based on the book ONE SHOT, the 9th in the author's series of 17 written to date. Apart from the height issue, the movie script follows the book quite closely, with all the thrills that made this book a bestseller being brought to the screen in a way that truly does justice to the original story. It is hardly a movie for the light-hearted, but if you like action thrillers, don't miss this.

Very Good Movie

I have read 12 of the Jack Reacher novels and was skeptical when I heard that Tom Cruise, a small guy, was playing Reacher, a large man. Cruise delvers! The movie is based on the novel "One Shot" and is very true to the book throughout. Reacher fans will like this movie!

A FAST-PACED, EXHILERATING FILM, STARRING TOM CRUISE AS LEE CHILDS SUPER-HERO JACK REACHER.

There have been a plethora of macho moaners, agonizing (kvetching) over the fact that Lee Childs?s 6?5?, iconic protagonist, mighty, ex -military, super ?hero, ?Jack Reacher? is depicted in the film by 5?7?, Tom Cruise; groan no more; Cruise is sensational and captures the essence and psychology of the reclusive hero; in other words he ?nails it?...
Surprisingly, the movie is richer because of Cruise?s performance; no gimmicky innuendos, ?tweaking, winking at the audience?; he plays it straight from commencement to conclusion; his height is never masked; a fitting example of, ?good things coming in small packages.? His pristine physical physique, Martial Art skills, render his opponents impotent; exhilarating chase scenes, Reacher cannot be felled by mere mortal miscreants...

Tom Cruise in Action the way we like him

Jack Reacher was fun, thrilling, with moments of subtle humor. Tom Cruise presented what we like to see from Tom Cruise. His Jack Reacher was a likeable (slightly sociopathic) hero who I rooted for throughout the movie.
Rosamund Pike also acted well. She is beautiful, and her character Helen was smart and sexy.
It was a nice pleasure to see Tom Cruise and a ?the guest actor? teamed up once again. Their banter seemed genuine, as if that?s how they relate to each other in real life.
Go see it! You will have fun!

Good ....not great

Overall the movie was good. I wouldn't call it the best but it was worth seeing. I thought the car chase seens were a little shotty and the fight scenes were smooth.

Great Entertainment.

Well-done action yarn with a plot, tempo and acting that were all well done. Cruise still effective as a good-guy badaz. Watching that bitchin Chevelle get banged up in the filming of the chase scene was a little tough to take. Overall good balance of drama, action, suspense and humor. Got my money's worth.

Complete waste of time and money.

This should be called. 30 ways Tom cruise can glare at the camera and leave no impact on the audience. It is slow, uninspiring and all around boring. The script contains a never ending torrent of cliché one liners.
After 45 minutes I looked at my watch and wondered if I should leave and do something better with my time than sit here and watch this moronic story. It's like "Taken" with bad lines and acting, or like "Knight and Day" without any attempt at humor.
Just give this a miss.
