    great movie

I fund it to be one of the best cop movies to date, and I will even go a little further and say that it was one of the better cop movies ever. It is that good. This movie has a good story/plot. Lots of action and they make it very real. Go see it, you wont be dissapointed.

    End Of Watch

This was a o.k movie. Way too much profanity. Movie could have been better if the language was not so crude. The acting was very good. The depiction acting was classic for the city in which it was depicting. I rate it a 6, could have rated it higher but again the language was too rough. I would not suggest children or teens see this movie.

    Great Movie

The live, HD cameras give the story a more realistic feel to it. Two partners that are best friends and gives people an idea of how it really is in the streets of central LA

    Great Movie!

This was a great movie. It was more a documentary style which is not what I expected but it is what made it great! The characters are funny and lovable and very easy to connect with. One of the better movies I have seen in a while!

    Profanity to a ridiculous level.

I'm not a prude, have been known to use the F-bomb on occassion, but this movie took cursing to a level that was absurd. The story and acting were obscured due to the profanity.
It was a good story, acting excellent, but I remember most the swearing. I remember that this one of the only movies that I have seen people get up and walk out, never to return. As good as the story was, with all the action, the theatre should have been busier, instead it was near empty, and 10% of those there left less than midway. My friend and I were using a Fandango BOGO deal we had gotten, and she remarked that she was glad we hadn't paid full price.

Such a waste of a good story and acting. Well at least they didn't have to pay much for the writing!

did not like the ongoing video taping in the movie with all of the narration going on was a distraction. the basic movie was ok but lacked a lot of information.

    Really good movie

I'm not big into cop dramas... a little too real for me. I went because of Jake. What I ended up getting was a compelling cop drama with a little too realistic view of south central LA. Wow, makes a girl really glad to be up in Idaho.
-- drawback... it was dizzying... if you've seen Blair Witch Project, or Cloverfield - it's filmed like a handheld camera, which gets disorienting very quickly.

Beyond that great movie. the cast is incredible and it was a great movie to watch. GO see it if you are looking for something that makes real men among us the superheros of the world.

Best Movie I've seen all year

    by Remye

And I've seen some good ones. This is NOT a typical "cops go after the gang" movie. I really liked the interaction between the main characters, and it was the human element that made this movie absolutely the best I've seen this year. Gillinghall pulled off what I thought he couldn't do quite honestly, and Pena was ready for this role it's obvious. The camera angles everyone talked about bugged me for a few minutes, but oncer I got into the plot and the acting, it just became part of the movie.
Go see this one. I hate to be cliche, but you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer.

    Action Packed

Great movie, a lot of action packed scenes. Jake played a great part and it's truly a great way to share what our officers go through day in and day out. Ending had a surprise ending and it's a must see movie!!!!

    Great Cop flick

I understand these guys actually rode around with the LAPD for a while in preparation for this movie. Was pretty authentic. A few goofy scenes like the fight scene in the house. Other than that Great movie. I wouldn't take the kids, tons of F-bombs.

DID NOT WANT THE WATCH TO END!!

    by kkgnca

Gritty? Definitely! Realistic? Absolutely! Brutal? Immensely! Entertaining? Oh my, YES!!
I don't understand why Michael Pena and Jake Gyllenhaal are not at the top of everyone's best actor list this year. Their chemistry is off the charts. Add their performances to a top notch script that is filled with heart, humor and tension and you've got a film that defines what we go to movies for. And for all of it's action and violence, the real story is the loving friendship between the two main characters. Absolutely authentic. I loved this movie!

    Typical Negative Stereotypes

Numerous times times while watching this B acting storyline I started to walk out and ask for a refund. From the beginning of this film I found it obnoxiously offensive due to its negative stereotypes of Black people in it. I found it to be racist and the Black actors should have just put on Black face paint with the exaggerated painted white lips and just shuffled and hamboned throughout the movie as they sung, "I'm in Watermelon Heaven." Not one positive image of anyone Black was shown in this movie. This movie also glorifies the blatant abuses by cops in the Black communities which is something the vast majority of white people do not ever experience. Their are just to many of these type of racist killers roaming the Black communities across this nation who kill with impunity and the system pat's them on the back, telling them they did a good job. This movie desensitizes people to those types of realities that only certain segments of this nation have to endure.

    Dizzy and with a headache

It is difficult to state that this movie has a storyline, it seems more like a series of events that are only linked by the coincidence of the participants. There are very crude images and situations portrayed in the film that depict a sad reality, however in my opinion the movie lacked a better cinematography. The scenes and cameras are so close that you end up getting dizzy from all the fast changes in the cameras.

I understand that the intention of the creators of the film was allow the spectators to live the action upfront, but the end result is not satisfying. Additional to that much of the action is lost by the closed angles on the cameras.

Basically the only aspect of the movie I liked was the ending, because of the drama of the situation, but I was very tired by the single viewing of the movie after watching it. Perhaps it will be better once released on video.

Good, but maybe not what you expect

    Great movie- really enjoyed it.
Fun mix of action/plot/character storyline. From the previews it seemed like much of the movie would be a drawn out war/battle, but that is not the case- so as long as you go in without that expectation I think you will thoroughly enjoy the movie. The action/consequences are unpredictable, which is not normal for run of the mill action movie, but really fits with the police reality/documentary aspect that this film was shooting for.
