    End Of Watch

I enjoyed this movie and I recommend it. The acting was acceptable. This was done with a lot of cooperation between the film makers and the LAPD. The police seem to be a sub-culture to the general society. This film was shot partially from the point of view of the two main characters, who wore cameras on their uniform pockets. Action was brutal and showed the extent of the crime and violence taking place within the streets of our cities. Two thumbs up!!

    Wow.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Broke your heart, made you laugh, got you thinking. Amazing movie, but not for the light-hearted. Very real, very in your face. No boundaries. Amazing plot and even better casting. All around awesome movie.

    Bro Fest

    by

Not a movie for the faint of heart, but the movie definitely got to my heart. The first-person camera really makes the movie go and gets the audience fully invested in the characters. I laughed and cried at every turn and twist of the intimate story. Definitely worth seeing it in theaters!

    stunning reality

This movie ROCKS! The graphic language and imagery bring to view every aspect of a cop's life whether in L.A. or any other large metroplex. There is no pretense in the dialogue and all the actors deliver first-rate performances. The viewer can truly appreciate the problems faced by the police in the area of race relations and the ravages of the drug culture.
Natalie Martinez and Anna Kendrick are especially effective in their portrayal of the women who love and remain loyal to their husbands in the face of overwhelming odds of violence and daily tensions on-the-job.Not for the squeamish, but definitely for anyone who is looking for outstanding entertainment and graphic realism professionally done.

    Watch

If the F word repeated over and over and over bothers you then please don't see this movie. It really doesn't bother me but my wife was pretty sick of it by the end of the movie. The acting and set design were really good...I have always liked Pena...Not for 15 and younger..I would have really liked to have rated it between a So-So & Go...

    Pleasant Surprise

I have been recommending this movie to everyone I know. You should too. The humor, the action is all on point and with perfect timing. Whether you're a cop or a thug, there is something for you in this movie.

    I would see it again.

This was a really great movie. There is a lot of bad language and sexual language, so watch who you take to this movie e.g. your mom. The acting was spot on, and at times hard to watch. I would see it again.

    End Of Watch

This was a o.k movie. Way too much profanity. Movie could have been better if the language was not so crude. The acting was very good. The depiction acting was classic for the city in which it was depicting. I rate it a 6, could have rated it higher but again the language was too rough. I would not suggest children or teens see this movie.

Definite must see for cop-movie lovers; everyone else, ehh...

Don't get me wrong, I do concur that this movie was "good" and I would say I am a fan of David Ayer's previous cop movies, my favorite being "Training Day" which was a tremendous movie for Denzel Washington as well.

Cinematically, this may have the same impact as Training Day did for me; however I just don't think it was a Tour De Force like Training Day was. It's a great guy flick, especially if you are in law enforcement or know someone who is. Do not take a date to this, unless she is a cop, it's not one of those kind of films. If the trailer has you stoked for the film, definitely see it, it's well made, well acted, and a fitting turn for David Ayer's more well known bad cop pictures.

Great L.A. Gangs vs. LAPD movie

    by pedsarq

The gangs of LA have been at war with each other for my entire life. It's not something I'm exposed to regularly since I live on the westside, but I know it to be real and scary. This movie does a great job of reminding us what an epic battle this is, and how every law enforcement officer puts their job on the line every day they go to work. I also appreciated the effort to humanize the cops. It explores the bond that develops between coworkers who depend on each other regularly in life-and-death situations. And, most incredibly, it even spends time showing you their family lives.

    End of Watch

Fabulous movie... on the edge of my seats the whole time! Actors were terrific, believable and even though a bit gory, that was needed to make the point. I even pre-ordered it in DVD as this is one I want to own.

Like a documentary with a plot!

Well written, well paced and brilliantly performed. Jake Gyllenhaal brings his A-game here, but Michael Pena brings the thunder. The interaction between these two is so believable and touching that it seems like it's all real. Stunning piece of filmmaking!

    Not your average cop/buddy flick.

    I'll keep this rather quick...

    Cons
    - the moving camera is by far the worst thing going for this movie. I get it's supposed to be a sign of the times we live in but it was outright annoying.
    - Jake Gyllenhaal's character seemed too bright to be an LA beat cop. Not that cops can't be bright but I needed a little insight as to how he ended up there.
    - The end. I still don't know why the last scene is the last scene

    Pros
    - A very accurate portrait of police life. (i don't know if LA gang violence is still at the pitch the movie gives it, but it makes for a good nemesis.)
    - The writer goes a long long way to get you to like these guys so the end is worth the trip.
    - This is the type of cop movie Hollywood has been trying and failing to make since Colors. It's a full on sensory experience. A Sweet, funny, gross, tense, hardcore, sad, action packed, angry, adrenalin shot of a movie....and it's almost perfect.

    End of Watch?Great movie!

    by nwwoman

I put it at an A- to B+. My male movie mate gave it a B- to C+. I thought it could probably be a pretty accurate depiction of the days in the life of two street cops. I was moved by the emotions of the characters and enjoyed the action. The last couple years have left me wondering if there really are great cops out there. I hope there's a few of these guys roaming our streets. The movie is a go see, thumbs up!

I wish the watch never ended.

    by

The movie was so intense and realistic. The characters were engulfed by pena and gyllenhal. It nonstop all the way through on the edge of your seat. It wasn't just mindless violence it was well planned and it pulled at your heart strings which most action movies fail to do. I think it's the best action movie of the year.I would give it 10 out of 10 but the language kind of took away from the movie with well over 200 F bombs so no one undr 15 or 16 should see it, but with that said its still a 9 out of 10. must see movie.
