Childhood stories fromt he early X-gens

A very neat take on the childhood stories of the Sandman, Toothfairy, the Easter Bunny, and of course Santa I remember my mom telling me when I was young. Definitly a feel good movie for the Holiday season.

    Rise of the Guardian 3D

I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!! The theater totally SUCKED!!!!!! IMAX Regal theater in Deer Park NY. They charge more than any other theater. it smells like a barn, they had one line for concessions where the manager split us up and put a large # of us on a different line. There was no cashier and we were almost forgotten about. I went to guest service who said it wasn't her department. should have said sorry, I'll get the proper manger for you. Finally that manager did put us with a cashier and denied she put us on an empty line. Then the ticket attendance directed us to the wrong theater, so as I stood there with winter jackets oversized, overprized drinks and small snacks with 2 kids, we sat in the wrong theater to 20 minutes when we realized it wasn't 3d which I paid extra for. I had to go back to the attnendanct who couldn't care less. Another employee was very nice helped me get my kids, my stuff and the 3d glasses and walked us right to our seats. I will never go to that theater again!!!

    WAY fun!

The last couple of movies I've watched were all based on superheroes or video games, so I'd almost forgotten that some kids' movies actually have a soul. This was a charming and visually stunning take on the Velveteen Rabbit-style myth about the power of children's beliefs.

Great 3-D Animation With a Good Message

    by drancon

Great family movie. Excellent 3-D animation, fun characters, and a good, happy message for everyone this holiday season. Funny, not too scary for smaller kids. Though the basic story is predictable, it is a nice new twist. David Lindsay-Abaire is a terrific screenwriter (and playwright!).

    So imaginative and fun.

I really really liked this movie. It was more exciting than I thought it was going to be, and more bad***, too. The whimsical holiday stuff was nicely balanced with humor and action, to the point where nothing felt super forced. For a movie ABOUT the imagination and believing in magic, it never felt too hamfisted or underdeveloped.

    Thought it was just "ok"

The plot of this movie moved fairly slowly and thought the mood of it was too dark for kids. I thought the villian of the movie was a particularly dark figure and that it was a little too scary in some scenes for small kids. That said, i did think the animation was fantastic and the viewer cannot help but be captivated by the flight scenes.

    Entertainment

Maybe it is the holiday season that makes this movie so enjoyable. Whatever the reason, Rise of the Guardians is a good way to spend 1 1/2 hours. The concept of a tattooed, Russian, sword-wielding Santa, who has Yetis creating toys, is hilarious. Loved the tough Easter Bunny storyline, also. However, these very images that amused and entertained me MIGHT not be entirely appropriate for children younger than 9 years.

    Much Better than Expected!

    by

When I saw the commercials with an Aussie (Hugh Jackman) giant Easter Bunny and Biker-like Russian Santa, I wasn't sure I'd like this film. But my 6 yr. old coerced me into taking her with her big brown eyes and very glad she did! If you can get over the strangeness of those two characters and enjoy the original fantasy and heart-warming story! She and I are both in love with Jack Frost now, and it will remind you of the wonder and beauty of being a child again! Highly recommended for kids and adults will enjoy it too. The 3D esp. made it fun when the characters are flying through the air!

    Clean, mindless fun.

    by

The Rise of the Guardians is nothing special, in terms of deep, thoughtful drama, but is a suitable holiday entertainment, pitching childhood fantasy heroes Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, and The Sandman, (joined by Jack Frost) against Pitch Black, the purveyor of everything dark, fearsome and scary in kids (in other words, the BOOGEYMAN). Good entertainment for kids upwards of about six to seven years old with their parents, as well as anyone with a vivid imagination. 3d effects were somewhat uneven, and were mostly of the in-your-face variety, so save your money and see the version without the bells and whistles....

    Ready to See it Again

    by ccbcpw

LOVED IT!! I knew when I saw the previews months ago that I would enjoy the movie. I liked it more that i thought! My girls are 12 and 8...they loved it. We are planning to take our 5 year old nephew soon. It is very much a "good verses evil" story. The 3-D was great and the characters were very cool. I'm looking forward to seeing it again and buying it on DVD.

    Rise of the Guardians

Absolutely delightful! My six year old laughed through the entire movie. It manages to incorporate all childhood magical characters into a worthy story. We will buy it on DVD so we can see it again and again.

    Better than the newspaper reviews

I went with my nine year old daughter. She liked it, and so did I.
It wasn't fantastic or a "must see" but I thought it was pretty good and not nearly as bad as some of the newspaper reviews I read.

A Good movie with good and bad against each other.

    by

I really liked the movie. It's so much better than the animated movies I've seen before. There was the good vs. bad in the movie and it showed about working together is the right thing to do. The 3-D effects were pretty good, too. I'm really glad that I went to see it with my brother and his son. It was a fast moving movie, too, which is usually really good with kids.

Rise of the Guardians might have been better if...

    by Cahbean

The movie theater had bothered to check that the 3D was aligned and showing properly. Most of the movie was blurry with the glasses on and the effects were less than impressive.

Better luck next time I hope!

    Awesome Movie!

    by jlavi

I found this movie to be typical Del Toro. Characters have an edge and aren't sugar coated. There is some darkness to it. The animation was awesome. Good for kids and adults. Great story and message. I recommend this film.
