3D still just a gimmick, unfortunately

The story was okay, but as with every 3D film to date, the 3D really did not add to the story. And story is what makes a film good. My 14 year old daughter enjoyed the film. My 11 year old son thought it was just so-so. And I got a very expensive nap. There was little to care about in the characters and the story just didn't have a well-defined arc. This is definitely a missable movie.

    Go Guardians!!

This movie was awesome! Great holiday family movie. It will reach children and adults alike with humor and good messages about overcoming fears to find the joy in life. LOVED IT!!!

    Rise Of The Guardians

This move was a surprise as I really didn't know what to expect. My 26 year old daughter and I have a tradition of going to matinee every Black Friday since she was %. We always try to see a holiday movie if possible.
We both enjoyed this 3d adventure and how Jack Frost became a "Guardian".
I did feel sorry for the other is theater who had brought young children, ages -10 as I thought it was little old and dark for them.

    Such an experience

    by

I was really excited about this movie before I even stepped in the theatre. Yes, it is a kids movie, but that doesn't mean it's just for kids. I was not disappointed in the least. The story was fantastic, enjoyable by both children and adults alike. The animation is incredibly impressive. Awestruck.

    Very Fun Children's Movie

I had the opportunity to take two 14 year-olds (one boy, one girl) and two 9 year old (one boy, one girl) to this fun movie, and all of us left with smiles on our faces. We all talked about the movie after we had seen it for the rest of the night, saying things like, "That was a buyer, when it comes on video" and "I haven't had that much fun at a movie in a long time."

At the "heart" of this movie, is a fun loving enjoyable movie that reaffirms your belief in the magic of all of the holidays. Very young ones might find the "Boogey Man" a little scary, but one the major themes of the movie is about how he can't hurt you, if you don't believe in him.
    I was thoroughly impressed!

    Great for kids

    by ddomer

This movie was wonderful and has a wonderful message for kids. I was even able, if even for 1 hour and a half, to escape reality and go back to my childhood!! Love it and in 3D even better!

    Rise of the Guardians

We didn't get to see it, because the theater wasn't able to get the 3 d version to work. I was very disappointed because I had spent almost 40.00 dollars on food and drinks for me and my grandchildren and then sat there for over an hour while they tried to get it fixed. Then ended up throwing most of the food and drinks out and only getting vouchers to come another day to see the film. I felt we should have been reimbursed at least for the money for the drinks and food! I was very disappointed in the lack of customer service provided by this establishment!

    Way to go Dreamworks

I LOVED this movie. The promise of Jack Frost, a Russian Santa, and Australian Easter Bunny lured me in and once I was there they had me. The movie was really good and they took it to places I didn't expect. Dreamworks usually does a good job and for me this was just another job well done.

    Awesome movie! Definitely a favorite!

    by

Wow, this was a great movie! I took my 9-year old and she literally sat on the edge of her seat the whole time. The entire FULL theater started cheering and clapping at the end; it was really wonderful. The story was incredibly meaningful and special and totally topped off the "belief" meter in my child, something I was worried about this Christmas at her age. Kids grow up so fast these days. Maybe now we'll get through this season with Santa intact for at least another year!

    Entertainment

Maybe it is the holiday season that makes this movie so enjoyable. Whatever the reason, Rise of the Guardians is a good way to spend 1 1/2 hours. The concept of a tattooed, Russian, sword-wielding Santa, who has Yetis creating toys, is hilarious. Loved the tough Easter Bunny storyline, also. However, these very images that amused and entertained me MIGHT not be entirely appropriate for children younger than 9 years.

    Visually stunning, smart family fun!

This was beautiful to watch. The look of the film is crisp and vivid . The 3D effects definitely enhance the experience, rather than distract from it.
The writing is smart and the pace is fast. My 8 and 10 year olds never moved or peeped during this one, and it really was over before even I knew it.
And stick around after the first round of credits, fun stuff!

Rise of the Guardians might have been better if...

    by Cahbean

The movie theater had bothered to check that the 3D was aligned and showing properly. Most of the movie was blurry with the glasses on and the effects were less than impressive.

Better luck next time I hope!

    Rise Of Guardians

Very well done....kids enjoyed it...not too long, so parents can make it through ok.
Nothing great on the 3D experience, so would recommend seeing it in just regular 2D

    Cute Flick

Saw this with my teenagers, and we really enjoyed it. Good story, terrific animation, 3D was nice but not overwhelming. We payed full price, and it was worth it for the 3D effects.
