    Thought it was just "ok"

The plot of this movie moved fairly slowly and thought the mood of it was too dark for kids. I thought the villian of the movie was a particularly dark figure and that it was a little too scary in some scenes for small kids. That said, i did think the animation was fantastic and the viewer cannot help but be captivated by the flight scenes.

Go - it is a new take on the old tales

    by

Had some good graphics, some laughs and was enjoyable by both children and adults. Not too scary for the little ones, but not boring for the adults either. I recommend as a great family film.

    Great film

This was a fun movie for my son and me. It is a good holiday picture for a child especially with all of the characters in it! I can't say which one I liked the best; however, I am glad the toothfairy encouraged brushing your teeth and left gold coins under the pillow because our toothfairy does that. ;-) Definitely take your kids to see this! It is fun for adults too!

Rise of the Guardians might have been better if...

    by Cahbean

The movie theater had bothered to check that the 3D was aligned and showing properly. Most of the movie was blurry with the glasses on and the effects were less than impressive.

Better luck next time I hope!

    Such an experience

    by

I was really excited about this movie before I even stepped in the theatre. Yes, it is a kids movie, but that doesn't mean it's just for kids. I was not disappointed in the least. The story was fantastic, enjoyable by both children and adults alike. The animation is incredibly impressive. Awestruck.

My child and I saw in 3D, so worth it! You could almost grab the snow flakes! If you get a little motion sickness, be prepared!

    OK But....

My son (17) and his friends loved it, especially the Russian Santa with the tattoos but my husband and I thought it was just OK. Maybe I'm over thinking but some explanation of why the "Guardians" look completely different from how most people see them in their mind's eye would help, Also why was the Boogie Man not called the Boogie Man but called Pitch Black? Needed more story development.

That said, teenagers love it and the fact that it was short was a plus

Skip It, Even When It Comes to DVD

I took my 8-yr-old son to see this movie because we didn't want to be in the house during the baby shower my wife was hosting. Should have endured the baby shower.
This movie seemed to be a story written to show-off 3D effects but even the 3D effects were boring. The current Guardians (Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, & Sandman) can't defeat Pitch without enlisting the help of another non-Guardian? Gee where have I heard that story before? Oh yeah. Hercules! Most animated movies have something to entertain the adults e.g. "inside" jokes or celebrity voices. This movie had neither. A story line that wasn't so predictable would have been nice; 15 minutes into this movie I was ready to leave. If I hadn't gotten these tickets for free I would have been really angry. The best thing about this movie were the elves but they were just a rip-off of the minions from "Despicable Me."
Skip this movie, you won't regret it.

    Great Movie

    by cottlej

I took two 8 year old boys to this movie and they loved it. I thought it was very good as well. I wouldn't advise taking small children as it might tend to scare them a little. The 3D effects were very well done.

    Awesome

    by

My 7 year old grandson and I went to see it and he LOVED it. He says he believes in Jack Frost now, he never knew who he was ... But now he can't wait till he comes! and for the rest of the day he thought he was an Austrailian bunny and spoke to everyone in an accent!!
He asked to see it again as soon as we left!!

Beautiful movie for kids of all ages

    by 1autumn

It was a visual delight and adorable--I loved it!! The children and adults in the audience were having a ball and everyone applauded at the end of the movie--

Sometimes lovely, but misses the mark emotionally

I really wonder why writing, which requires only a pencil and a piece of paper, seems to the the component most often neglected in film making.

Everyone tries real hard to make it fun. It gets maudlin.
