Fun concept but needed more detail
"Rise of the Guardians," is full of action and splendid animation but it has its setbacks in areas that could have made this movie a real showstopper. The concept of each character is unique and that is a reason to see this movie. Santa as a swordsman with a Russian accent, the Easter Bunny as a gruff and strong Austrailian rabbit-man, a mute Sandman and a teenage Jack Frost is certainly something not seen everyday. The characters were very cool. Director Peter A. Ramsey did a good job with his adaptation William Joyce's storybook, the Guardians of Childhood and the animation of the film is vibrant and very aesthetic but one can't help but think this movie has fallen short somewhere. Perhaps the screenplay from David Lindsey-Abaire ("Robots") was too conservative. Not enough liberties were taken in trying to get this movie to really become something wonderful. "Rise of the Guardians" is a likable enough motion picture to completely enchant the imaginations of children. Not the parents.
